9: Second chance with camella

Ethan's POV

I took her to a hospital, the one where the pack doctor was. I watched as they rolled her in and paced around till the doctor came back.

"Is she okay?" I asked immediately and the woman nodded.

Dr Maria sighed as she read Camella's charts.

"Her cut wasn't that deep, so she'll be fine. But..her memory.."

"Her what?"

She closed the chart and looked at me, "Checking the scans, she touched the part of her brain that deals with memories when she hit her head."

"What does that mean?" I asked, confused.

"It means that, she might have a little memory loss or a lot, I don't know."

I sighed in confusion. "Well…can I see her now?"

"She's resting, Milord. How about tomorrow?"

I nodded as she walked past. I made my way towards a few benches and plopped in one, exhausted.

I had no idea what was happening now.

"Lord Ethan, wake up. You can see Camella now." Dr. Maria's gentle voice broke through my slumber, accompanied by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the fatigue. I had spent the entire night in the hospital waiting room, anxiously waiting for any update on Camella's condition. I stood up, stretching my muscles, and followed Dr. Maria to Camella's room, she opened the door and walked away leaving me with Camella.

As I walked in, I had no idea what to expect. Would she be groggy? Disoriented? Angry? But nothing could have prepared me for the sight that greeted me.

Camella was sitting up in bed, a bright smile spreading across her face. Her chubby cheeks were flushed with excitement, and her dimples were on full display. Her eyes sparkled with joy, and her whole face lit up when she saw me.

"Ethan! You're here!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

I was taken aback, my heart skipping a beat. I had never seen her look so happy to see me before. In fact, I had never seen her look so happy at all.

I stood there, frozen in surprise, as Camella's smile faltered for a moment. "Ethan, is everything okay?" she asked, her brow furrowed in concern.

I shook my head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "Yeah, everything's fine," I said, trying to sound calm. "I just...I didn't expect you to be so...happy."

Camella's smile returned, and she reached out her arms. "I'm just so glad you're here," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. "I've been asking for you all morning."

I walked over to her, feeling a mix of emotions. What was going on? Why was she so happy to see me? And what did she remember? I sat down beside her, taking her hand in mine, and tried to process the situation.

I kept looking at her, confusion etched on my face. Had she forgotten? Our last encounter had ended with her in tears, fleeing from me after another one of my thoughtless outbursts. And now, she was smiling at me like I was the love of her life.

"Camella, do you remember us?" I asked, trying to gauge her memories.

She nodded enthusiastically. "Of course, I remember us. We're... together, aren't we?" She reached out and took my hand, her touch sending shivers down my spine.

I hesitated, unsure of how to respond. "And what about Leo?" I asked, trying to probe her memories further.

Camella's expression faltered, and she looked at me with confusion. "Your stepbrother? Yeah...I think so. But I don't remember...is he okay? Married now?" She looked at me with genuine concern, as if she truly cared about Leo's well-being.

I realized, with a start, that she didn't remember. She didn't remember the pain I had caused her, the tears she had shed because of me. And she didn't remember being mated to Leo after I got sent to rehab.

It was as if a spell had been removed from her, erasing all memories of our tumultuous past. Which explains everything now.

As the truth dawned on me, Camella leaned in closer, her eyes sparkling with affection. And then, she kissed me. It was a soft, gentle kiss, but it sent shivers down my spine. I was taken aback by my own reaction - I had expected to feel annoyance, or disgust, but instead, I felt a spark of desire.

I pulled back, surprised by my own response. Camella looked up at me, her eyes shining with love. "What's wrong?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. "Nothing," I said, trying to sound calm. "I just...I don't know what's going on."

Camella's face fell, and she looked at me with concern. "What happened to me?" she asked, her voice filled with worry. "I don't remember...I don't remember anything."

I took a deep breath, trying to decide how much to tell her. But as I looked into her eyes, I knew I couldn't lie to her. But then…she was looking at me with such trust.

Camella's POV:

I slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was in a hospital room, but I had no idea why. My head was pounding, and my memories were fuzzy. But one thing was clear - I remembered Ethan.

As I rang for the nurse, a flood of memories came rushing back. Happy memories, hazy and unclear, but definitely happy. I remembered laughing with Ethan, smiling at him, and feeling safe in his arms.

The nurse came in, and I asked her to call Ethan. She nodded and left, returning with him a few minutes later.

Ethan looked as handsome as always, his sandy brown hair messy and his gold-colored eyes warm. I felt a surge of happiness seeing him, and I couldn't help but smile.

He sat down beside me, looking concerned. "Camella, do you remember us?" he asked, his voice low and gentle.

I nodded, feeling a bit confused. "Of course, I remember us. We're... together, aren't we?"

He asked me a few more weird questions, but I ended it with a kiss. I just wanted to feel close to him, to forget about the confusion and pain.

As we pulled back, I asked him, "Why am I in the hospital? I don't remember..."

Ethan was quiet for a while, his eyes filled with a mix of emotions. Then, he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. "You had an accident. I...I slammed the brakes too hard, and you got hurt. I'm so sorry, Camella."

I looked at him, trying to process what he was saying. An accident? I didn't remember anything. But Ethan's eyes told me that it was true, and that he was filled with regret.

I smiled and kissed him again, trying to reassure him. "It's okay, Ethan. I'm fine."

He smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the corners, and leaned into the kiss. I felt a flutter in my chest as he deepened the kiss, his lips gentle but insistent.

As we pulled back, he asked, "Are you hungry?"

I nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! I'm starving!"

Ethan chuckled. "Okay, I'll get you something to eat. And I'll ask the doctor if you can go home with me today."

I nodded happily, feeling a sense of excitement at the prospect of leaving the hospital and spending more time with Ethan. I watched as he stood up and walked out of the room, feeling a sense of contentment wash over me.

As I waited, I couldn't help but think about how much I loved Ethan. I didn't remember everything, but I knew that I felt safe with him, happy with him. And as I thought about it, I realized that I didn't need to remember everything. I just needed to be with him.

After what felt like an eternity, Ethan returned with a tray of food and a smile. "The doctor says you can leave with me today," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

I grinned, feeling a sense of joy. "Really?"

Ethan nodded. "Really. So eat up, Let's get you out of here and home where you belong."
