Drama!
Family drama this time!
"I'll take this quickly" I told Ana and went to one corner.
"What is it?" I said before Aunty Laura started sprouting rubbish.
"Typically you! Your father wants to see you today so dinner it is" She said as crooky as ever.
"My father? That's so funny! I thought you were educated than this. Don't you know that difference between a father and an uncle? Father? You better stop being delusional" I don't want him to be called my father. He saw everything going on in that house and didn't object to them maltreating me.
Yes, he wasn't an active partner but he was the passive one.
"Fine, I'll let you have the last word. See you soon orphan"
"Stop calling me an orphan!" I yelled but she hung up on me.
I let off a stressed grunt and wanted to go back to Ana when I stepped on something.
"Holy shit!" I yelled and fell on the floor. It was a guy, actually. A weirdo! So sure. He was all alone at this corner eating the fruits he plucked from the tree.
He is average in height and not that bad looking but certainly not my type. I wasn't going into this love thing again. After two heartbreaks I decided to take long rest.
"Calm down, its just me. Hi, I'm Bernard" He kept his fruit on the cemented chair and wiped his hand off with is shirt. So gross!
He stretched those hands to me.
"Amiyah. Miya, for short" I took his hands quickly not showing my reluctance. His hand was so cold.
"So is someone tormenting you?" He asked. Certainly, he heard my conversation with Aunt. The nosy type, I don't like them.
"I'm cool. I'll take my leave now" I smiled, weirdly and left.
"Oh, God. Save her from the tragic calamity to befall" He prayed.
"Hey" I met Ana waiting for me while whiling away her time with her phone. I knew she was talking to her boyfriend, that Mark guy. She hasn't seen him face to face before, it was an online relationship. But don't know how that guy manages to put a smile on her face always.
"Lets go" She smiled at me still chatting with him.
"I'm going home for dinner" I informed her.
"Will you sleep over?" She asked with those pitiful eyes I hate a lot.
"Of course not. I'd rather die than sleep there"
"Listen, don't hold it back. If they bring it cool give them your cool side but if its hot show them your hot side also. Don't let them think they've won. Cheer up!"
"Do you really need to tell me that? Bye. I'm off" I hugged her and ran towards exit two which was way easier for me to get home in my Bolt EV. I brought it to school but left it far from the compound. I don't want to be the centre of gossip but I think I am already, thanks to Liam.
*Liam's dorm*
He sighed of relief and sat down on the sofa.
"Hey, this is not the time to be relaxed. Your crazy sister is here" He trembled and sat beside his friend.
"Veronica? Why is she here all of a sudden?" He asked out of plain curiosity. She isn't the type to visit her brother and show him brotherly love.
She is a complete psycho.
"Why are you asking me that? She is your sister"
"Where is she?"
"I'm right here" She was behind the curtain. He was two years older but she didn't regard him as her elder brother at all.
"Ahhh, you were here all along" Tom was very nervous.
Did she hear everything ?Who knows what she will do now?
"Yes, I heard everything. Ever...thing" she dragged the world to threaten him shooting daggers from her eyes.
"Hey, stop picking on him and go straight to the point. Why are you here?" Liam finally spoke.
"Hey, you should offer me a sit first" she sat down and crossed her legs.
"You know I have tabs on you. Who is that girl you stood up for in your college? Are you finally getting married?" She was excited, almost dramatically.
"Whoever your informant is, the person got it all wrong. She is an old friend" he explained, reasonably.
"What the hell, don't tell me I was happy for nothing?! Hey, an old friend can be a lover eventually. It happens..."
"In movies" Tom interrupted by mistake. He didn't know he said that out loud.
"I'll really appreciate it if you keep your mouth shut. I'm having a conversation with my brother here!" She yelled.
"Why are you yelling on him? Also, why are you bent on getting me married?"
"Because I want to get married too"
"Who is stopping you?"
"Grandma! She said you have to do it first. Does she think her old world still exists? See, Liam go on dates, marry a good girl so I can marry the love of my life before its too late!" She took her mini bag from the coach and stood up.
"Are you sure you don't want to get married because of the 150 billion villa and not because of love?" This question made her stop on her tracks.
"How is it your business? We aren't that close enough to share secrets, are we?" She looked differently. This time with anger.
Seems like he caught her red-handed and she has to act out to save herself.
Liam laid to rest on the sofa when she said.
"She is mine!!" She scoffed. He took a throw pillow and threw it but he missed his target she closed the door and sticked her tongue out.
She did that to make fun of him.
"That girl is something else. How did you put up with her crazy attitude?" Mark remarked.
*Miya*
I drove all the way to Hermes House. It was a mansion, pillared and painted white.
I shrugged off everyone's greetings. I don't want to be familiar with them after all that happened.
"Oh, big sis!" Rose came to welcome me jovially as I stepped in. Scripted act! Nothing but a gross meaningless scripted act!
Rose stole my boyfriend, Liam. Envied everything I have and made sure she snatched them away. I don't know why she is so wary of me.
"How long has it been? You look so pretty today although your beauty can't beat mine" she touched my hair and I made a reflex. It was part of me now. I hated it if a member of this house tries to lay their filthy hands on me. I yanked her hand away.
"Cut the crap! We still saw each other last week" I was finally granted the freedom I wanted last week. To be freed from this den of wolves.
"Really? I didn't really keep count" she smiled, mockingly.
"Where is Uncle?" I asked going further in. It was 8pm now and I won't like to waste time and end up crashing here.
"He's in the study. Let's first..."
"I'll see him first" I cut her short and went directly to the study.
"Uncle" I knocked the already opened door to show courtesy and Rose tagged along.
"Oh, Amiyah. You're here" he smiled at me.
"I want to talk with Uncle. Alone!" I look pointedly at her as I emphasised on the last word. Now, she finally left us.
"Yes, what do we need to talk about? I bet you didn't call me here to just chit chat" I sat down on the blue armed chair.
"That's why I like you. Nothing goes pass you so I'll be direct. I want you to come back home" he said more like a commanded.
"Home? And where is that" I retorted, trying to supress my smile.
"Stop being sarcastic!"
"I'm not being sarcastic I'm being realistic! Uncle, let me make this clear to you. I don't like being here. It's suffocating!" I admitted.
"So you lied to my mother to transfer school because of that" He asked more like said.
"Why are you asking the obvious?" I tried to be calm because I was losing it in my head.
A normal me wasn't able to do this before. Retorting , I mean. But after Rose took Lian away from me. I became strong. I don't care what they say. There is a limit to everything and this is where my patience ends.
First, I blamed myself. Asked myself "Where did I lack?"
"Was I really not able to keep him happy?"
It hurts but I'm going to forget everything and move on. I heard love is a luxury for some people. I'm among those people
"Are you going to keep talking back?! What did I ever do to you?!" He yelled and threw some files at me.
"Uncle Ben, what are you trying to save yourself from?" A soundless, tearless sobbing clogged my throat.
"What?"
"I know you have been ignoring everything that was so clear to you. You knew it! You knew I was oppressed and abused in this house!"
"Stop yelling. They are many ears here" He replied to everything I have said. I couldn't help but let out a scoff.
"Typically you. I'll take my leave now"I took my bad on the table and left his study. I was so mad by his answer. He was a coward that would've kept me safe if he really wanted to.
I sighted Aunty sitting in the dining room and ignored her.
"Amiyah, sit and have breakfast. I made your favourite" she more like ordering me to stay.
"And poisoned it. Just like you did ten years ago?"
"Gosh, you keep malice a lot. I'm not like you who murdered her parent at a tender age" She was trying to get on my nerves again.
She made blame myself again. If I hadn't begged them to come pick me up in Grandma's place to celebrate my birthday, they wouldn't have died.
I recalled the event....
"Hey, Amiyah. Try to understand that mama and papa are busy so they won't make it today" Grandpa tried to talk me out of it but I insisted on calling my parent so he gave in.
"Dad, Mum, if you don't make it to my birthday party today I won't forgive you" I sulked.
That was the first time they were going to miss my birthday because of reasons made unknown to me.
"I'll be there, don't worry" Dad assured me.
"Dear, pinky promise. Why would we miss our precious daughter's ten year birthday?" Mom assured me also.
"Be a good girl. We will be there soon. We love you, dear" Dad said. Little do I know, that was the last time I'll hear their beautiful voices.
