“Remi let’s go, we're going to be late!” I yell from the bottom of the stairs of dad’s house. Remi runs down the stairs after changing her outfit for the fifth time.
“Okay I’m ready.” She says skipping to the front door. She is dressed in a really cute pink and white dress.
“Don’t you look pretty?” I tell her and she beams up at me.
“Thanks.”
She gets into the car and I place the cookies on her lap.
“Protect these cookies with your life okay Rem?”
She nods.
“Yes, ma’am.”
She seems to be in a much chipper mood today.
“So Remi... who are you trying to look cute for huh?” I ask her and she blushes and giggles.
“So there's this boy...” she begins and I gasp.
“What? Remi I was just kidding. You’re only ten!”
She sighs.
“I know, but I have a crush on a boy named Leo. You remember him... he goes to church sometimes.”
I chuckle. I do remember that kid.
“Remi he’s always sleeping during service.”
“Yeah, but he’s so dreamy.” She says holding her blushing cheeks.
"Dreamy... I see what you did there.” I poke her cheek.
“Why don’t I ever see mitch anymore, Heather?” She asks rotating in her seat to have a better look at me. My goodness I totally forgot I was going to eventually tell her Mitch and I are no longer an item. Here goes nothing.
“We broke up, Remi. I’m sorry but you won’t see Mitch anymore.” She gasps.
“Really? Dang. I really wanted to have a drawing competition with him.”
I frown.
“I’m sorry kiddo but I could draw with you whenever you want, ya know?”
She nods with a smile.
“That sounds great!”

At the charity event people have begun setting up tents at the back of the church were lays a huge lot of land perfect for events like these.
“Heather, Remi, hello!”
Olivia pines yells from a nearby lemonade stand. And waves us forward. Olivia was a good friend of mom's back then.
“Hello Miss Pines, beautiful afternoon isn’t it?”
Her smile is bright and kind.
“It sure is. I want to tell you that if you needed a table for your cookies you can use half of mine, I’ve got plenty of free space.”
Oh the table, I forgot to pack it in the car!
“Thanks so much, I can’t believe I forgot my table.”
She nods.
“It’s no problem at all. Leo had the idea to share a table since mine is so big.”
Remi snaps at attention by my side.
“Where’s Leo, Mis Pines?” She asks her and Olivia points to a group of kids and teenagers, in the bouncy house.
“He’s over there playing with his friends.”
Remi tugs at my arm.
“Can I go play at the bouncy house Heather?”
“Yes, but be careful not to get hurt, or accidentally hurt someone.”
She nods and runs towards the bouncy house.

ACE POV:
I show up to a bar downtown with Cameron for a bit of day drinking and poker.
“Dude, ya know I’ve been thinking about getting a new tattoo,” Cameron says sipping on his beer.
“Alright, what are you thinking of getting?”
“An ass tattoo.”
I look at him and just blink, why am I surprised he would say that?
“I’m not tattooing your ass Cameron.” I take a swing from the beer and order another one.
“But you haven’t even heard my idea yet!”
I sigh.
“Okay let’s hear it.”
He grins.
“I want a tattoo that says “Shit happens, on my left butt cheek.”
I laugh nearly spitting out my drink.
“I hate to admit it Cameron, but that’s actually kind of genius.”
“Right?! The ladies are going to love it.”
I shake my head.
“Aren’t you still fooling around with, what’s her face? Vanessa or something?” I ask him and he shrugs.
“She was nice while it lasted, but it turns out she’s married.”
I chuckle.
“You do have that kind of luck Cameron.”
He nods.
“Yup, and I would ask about your love life, but it seems obvious you are only focused on one woman, and her nickname involves icing.”
I glare at him.
“Don’t go there Cameron.”
“Why not? I’m your best friend you can tell me anything.”
I chug the whole bottle down.
“That bad huh?” He asks shaking his head.
I through the bottle into the trash can on the other side of the bar and land it.
“Yeah man... It’s that bad.”
“Tell me about it.” He says as he eyes a pretty redhead walking in.
“It’s just, Heather is different ya know? I don’t want to just screw around with her. She’s the kind of woman, men picture as their wife. She’s perfect, but I’m not the kind of guy woman picture as a husband. I’ve always just been the fun, funny dude with tattoos and is great in bed. Besides she doesn’t even know about my past.”
Cameron slams his hand on the bar, and I run a hand over my face.
“Forget your past Ace, you have a perfectly good woman who is clearly into you, and you are wasting it! Take it from me, I know what that’s like.”
Does he now?

Heather POV:
The charity event was a success, and I lay on my bed exhausted, and bored, so I text my bestie.
Heather: [Hey Clara what’s up?]
Clara: [I’ll tell you what’s not up. I haven’t gotten laid in a long minute.]
Heather: [Speaking of... What’s your history with Cameron?]
Clara: [Damn. You noticed didn’t you? Well... long story short, I secretly dated Cameron in high school, but we didn't want my brother finding out because we knew he would be upset. You know because if Camron and I were to break up it would break our little trio. That being said, it didn't stop us from secretly dating each other, and I love my handsome stoner so freaking much.]
Heather: [I'm rooting for you two. Y’all just seem happy together.]
Clara: [I can think of two other people that also seem happy together. *wink, wink*]
I gulp. There’s no way she knows right?
Heather: [ So can I. Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella and prince charming...]
Clara: [Hansel and Heather ;) ...]
Damn it!
Heather: [Your brother and I are just friends.]
Clara: [Right... and I’m just a millionaire. My brother doesn’t fall in love, that’s not his thing, but the way he looks at you. I don’t know...]
Heather: [Well I should probably get some sleep. Good night Clara.]
Clara: [Good night Heather.]
He can't possibly be in love, could he? Clara is so dramatic.
