Unexpected guests

The next day nausea wakes me up like an unforgiving slap in the face. I struggle to release myself from Ace’s sleeping arms around me, but once I do I make a beeline towards the bathroom and let it all out. As I’m vomiting I hear footsteps heading towards me before feeling Ace’s warm hand on my back.

“Is this normal, Heather?” He asks concerned.

“Yeah, it’s just morning sickness, it will go away eventually.”

“Don’t come to work this week, work from home instead okay?” He tells me as he helps me up, and away from the toilet.

“Ace I don’t want you giving me any special treatment at work. People will notice and lose respect for me.”

He shakes his head.

“No one will lose respect for you, without losing their jobs in the process. I don’t play around when it comes to my family.”

I agreed on staying home, and working from our house office. Ace leaves to train a new tattoo artist for his shop, and I can’t help but feel incredibly tired all day. I took like 7 cat naps.
