Crazy baby

Ace has been very quiet and focused on something in his head all day. He doesn’t think I notice, but I do. Something is stressing him out. I lay my head on his lap as he watches back to the future.

He smiles down at me and pushes the hair out of my face.

“Hey there, cupcake.” There is a worried undertone in his voice, and that proves me right.

“What’s wrong, Ace? And don’t lie to me, I’m your wife, and I just wanna help.”

He sighs deeply and looks away for a moment.

“You can’t help with this situation.” He says so quietly I almost miss it.

I turn his face back to mine.

“Talk to me Ace,” I say softly, not wanting to push him too hard.

“Do you remember Viper?”

I nod slowly. How could I forget the guy that tried to take advantage of me at Cameron’s party?

“What about him?”

He rubs his temples, trying to ease his tension.

“He wants to help me get Trigger and his gang out of our lives for good.”

I look at him in disbelief.
