Healing and Forgiveness

In the weeks that followed, Mei-Yin focused on herself, spending more time with Xiao Hong and Feng, who continued to be a supportive presence in her life. She began to heal, slowly rebuilding her confidence and sense of self-worth.

Meanwhile, Li-Jie struggled to balance his responsibilities with his longing for Mei-Yin. The public announcement of his relationship with Jane brought unwanted attention, and he found himself constantly thinking about Mei-Yin.

One evening, after a long day at work, Li-Jie decided to visit Mei-Yin's favorite café. He hoped to find her there, to apologize once more and to see her face, even if from a distance. As he walked in, his heart leapt when he saw her sitting by the window, a book in her hands.

"Mei-Yin," he said softly, approaching her table.

She looked up, surprised to see him. "Li-Jie, what are you doing here?"

"I needed to see you, to apologize again. I miss you, Mei-Yin. More than words can express," he confessed, his eyes pleading.

Mei-Yin sighed, closing her book. "Li-Jie, it's not that simple. Trust takes time to rebuild."

"I know. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes," he said, his voice sincere.

They talked for hours, sharing their feelings and fears. Mei-Yin opened up about her hurt and betrayal, while Li-Jie listened, acknowledging his mistakes and expressing his regret.

As they left the café, Li-Jie took a deep breath. "Mei-Yin, I don't expect you to forgive me right away. But I want you to know that I'll wait for you, no matter how long it takes."

Mei-Yin nodded, her heart heavy but hopeful. "Let's take it one day at a time, Li-Jie. That's all we can do."

As they parted ways, both felt a sense of closure and a glimmer of hope for the future. Their journey was far from over, but they were willing to face the challenges ahead together.
