Chapter One

"Aah!"

*screech*.The car halted.

Reena marched towards the car that had almost hit her and banged on the window fiercely.

"Hey you!Come out and see the damage you've caused."Reena screamed at the top of her voice.

The driver of the car immediately came out of the car.

"Madam please calm down.We can sort this out.My boss will compensate you"

Reena turned to the driver and yelled at him"Right!It's all about money.Why can't your boss come out of the car"

Reena rolled her eyes and continued banging the door.

She suddenly stopped when she heard a voice.The voice was deep and magnetic.It was like he could lure someone to do his bidding.

Reena looked up to see who spoke.Her eyes widened immediately at what she saw.

How could someone be so handsome?

He had black eyes that were deep and gloomy.Even the sunlight seemed to be unable to pass through those eyes.His hair was styled in a way that made him look more handsome.And there was a bodyguard who held an umbrella over his head.Everything about this man exuded power.

Everything Reena planned to say was forgotten the moment she laid her eyes on this man.

Reena mentally slapped herself for allowing this man to such effect on her.

"I don't think you want to pay for the car if it gets damaged "

This man sure knew how to turn things around.

Reena gritted her teeth trying to prevent herself from exploding out of anger.

"Your driver hit me with your car.How do you plan to compensate me for the physical and mental damages caused by the accident."

"You should have watched where you were going"The man replied calmly.

Reena's eyes widened.How can someone be so shameless!?

"Watch were I was going?Was your driver blind.What's your problem, you arrogant bastard!.I want my money right now or I will have you arrested!"

"Go ahead.No one is stopping you."

The driver who was left out was sweating profusely.

This woman didn't know how lucky she was.

She dared to shout at his boss.

Reena took out her phone and called the police.

Few minutes later the police arrived.When they came they had their back to the man so they didn't see him.

Seeing that she was the only woman at the scene they knew she was the one who had called them.

"Good day ma'am.Who did you report to us?"The policeman who looked like the boss asked.

"Him"Reena said and pointed at the man behind the police.

The police turned around and their eyes widened when they saw the man.They broke out in a cold sweat.

"Pres.."The first policeman quickly swallowed the words he was about to say when he saw the deadly glare the man sent his way.

The policeman turned to face Reena.

"Ma'am.I believe this can be sorted out among yourselves.We will get going now."

With this,the policemen turned around and walked away im a hurry like they were being chased by something or someone....

"What?!How can you leave?Aren't you going to have him arrested?I could have gotten injured or even killed.Arrgh,forget it"

Reena turned around to face the man. "What did you do?"Reena asked with a glare.

The man simply shrugged."Did you see me do anything?"

Reena was about to ask him why they were afraid of him but decided against it.

"Luke give her some money"With that,the man walked to his car and entered it.

"Ma'am..."

"Shut up!I don't need your money"Reena glared at the driver and walked away,muttering to herself.

"A simple sorry would do.He didn't even feel remorseful."

"You should have watched where you are going"Reena mimicked the man.

Hmph!So what if he his handsome.

I never want to marry someone like him ever in my life.

"Arrgh"Reena groaned.

When Reena got the hospital she went straight to her mom's ward.She was about to enter her ward when she saw a man entering the elevator.

He looked like the man she met earlier.

'Is he sick?He didn't look sick when I saw him.Is he here to visit someone?He is probably not the same person.Reena thought.

Reena closed her eyes and took a deep breath before entering her mother's ward.

Reena couldn't help but cry when she saw her mother,Hazel.Her mother was lying on the bed,staring into space.From her red eyes one could tell she had cried.

"Mom!"Reena cried out

"Reena,dear.How are you?I am sorry for making you worry.""Hazel said feeling guilty for making Reena worry about her.

This was Hazel who cared for everyone around her.She was the one lying on the sick bed but she was the one asking Reena how she was doing.

Hazel had always been a woman who was full of life.But all that changed when she heard the news of her husband's death.She was so devastated.

She just wanted to clean her husband's frame when she saw it on top of a shelf.But she couldn't reach it so she stood on a stool.She was just about to take it when the stool shifted and she fell down.The frame also fell down.Hazel twisted her foot but she didn't care about her leg.Her focus was on the frame in the floor.Her eyes reddened instantly and tears flowed freely down her face.She didn't even bother to go to the hospital to treat her broken leg.It was a neighbour who heard the noise from the fall that took her to the hospital.

"Mom I'm fine.I should be the one asking you that.And besides it's my fault.I shouldn't have kept the frame up there.I was just worried that you would be sad again if you saw dad's picture.I'm sorry."Reena apologized feeling guilty.She had hidden all her dad's picture and left that one on top of the shelf just in case her mother wanted to see her dad's picture but she didn't expect that it would cause an accident.

"It's fine Reena.Erm..Actually...I have something to tell you?"

"What is it mom?"Reena was confused.

What could her mom possibly want to tell her that made her face so serious.

"Actually..An old...friend of your father called earlier this morning before the accident.He said...."

Reena eyes widened after hearing what her mother said.

In a ward in the same hospital Reena was in.

"Grandpa I thought we agreed that you won't interfere with my life but that is exactly what you are doing now.I will get married to whoever I want whenever I want."The young man in the room said to his grandfather who was lying on the sick bed.

The old man sighed."Cyrus I know that .I did say i won't interfere with your life.But I have my reasons for saying you should marry this girl.I know you dont know her talkless of loving her but feelings can be cultivated with time.Just this once and I promise I won't interfere with your life again.I promise."The old man said trying to persuade his grandson.

The old man was diagnosed with a heart disease but it was more complicated to cure considering the fact that the man was already old and the sickness wasn't discovered on time.

"Grandpa..."

Cyrus loved his grandfather so much.To him,his grandfather and his mother were his only family.Even if his mother could be unreasonable sometimes he still loved her.He didn't want to give his father a hard time as the doctor had advices that the old man should be happy at all times and shouldn't be worried.But at the same time he wasn't ready to get married.His whole life revolved around work.He didn't have time for love.

"Six months.Just six months and if you don't love her after these six months then you can divorce her.And I won't interfere.please reconsider."The old man said trying to compromise.

"Okay grandpa.I will marry her.But only for six months.After this I don't want to hear anything about another marriage."Cyrus finally said after a while.

The old man was overjoyed."That's great.I will have officers from the civil affairs bureau come to the mansion tomorrow."

Cyrus nodded."Grandpa I will get going now.I have company matters to attend to."Cyrus said and stood up to leave.

The old man nodded and waved his hand dismissively.

After Cyrus left the hospital,the old man's face changed and an unknown emotion flashed in his eyes....

Hazel's ward.

"What!?"Reena yelled.She couldn't still process what she just heard.

Reena just sat still with her eyes and mouth wide open.It was like everything around her stopped and the only thing she could hear was her mother's previous words.

"You heard me Reena.He said he will help us financially if you married his grandson."

This was what had been bothering Hazel.Coupled with the accident and the broken frame she couldn't handle it which caused her emotional breakdown.

Reena was in a tight position.She knew how her mother was working hard just so they could survive.

They were living fine until the day Reena's father died in a car accident.With no one to go to for help, Reena and her mother had to rely on themselves.But it was hard.

If she got married now she was helping her mother and even herself.

But Reena had always dreamt of having a husband who loved and doted on her.And they would have two children.And live happily together.But she didn't think that would happen anymore if she got married to a stranger.

But she was willing to place her mother's happiness over hers.

Reena let out a sigh and closed her eyes.

"Mom..I-I will marry him"
