Chapter Two

Hazel was surprised.She didn't expect Reena to easily accept her marriage with a stranger.Hazel quickly said"Reena you don't have to marry him.I was just saying nonsense.I didn't say you have to marry him.I just thought you should know since it involved you."

"Mom I know you wouldn't force me.This is my decision.I agreed to it on my own.You don't have to worry about me.I will be fine."Reena replied.

Hazel sighed."I can't stop you,can i?"

"Nope"Reena said and chuckled.

"You..."Hazel said with a shake of her head.

"The doctor said you can be discharged today since it was just an injury but you will need to use some ointments for it to heal completely,So let me arrange for you to be discharged.I will be right back."

"Arrgh!Thank God.I hate the smell of medicine in here."Hazel said and playfully twisted her face in disgust.Reena chuckled at her childish act.

After Reena left her mother's ward,she thought of how her life was going to change when she got married.She wasn't even going to have a wedding.She was just going to her new house the next day without knowing who she was getting married to.She was still lost in thought that she didn't notice someone was walking towards her until she hit her forehead on something hard.

"Ouch!Hey don't you have--"Reena's words got stuck in her throat when she saw who she had bumped into.

Why did she have to see this man again?!

The man in front of her smirked"We meet again"

"W- what are y-you doing here?"Reena asked and regretted it immediately.

The man chuckled coldly."What?You can come here but I can't?"

Reena clenched her gist and gritted her teeth. "I haven't even held you responsible for what you did to me and now you are pestering me"

The man smirked."It's not that you dont want to.It's just that you can't."

Reena was so angry that her eyes turned red.She knew what the man said was true.She didn't have the ability to suppress him.

Reena suppressed her anger and said"I have things to attend to.I will get going now."Reena said and walked away.

The man gave David a look.David was his assistant.

David who had been by the man's side for years naturally understood his boss and could understand his look very well.He left to carry out his task.

The man's eyes darkened slightly before saying to his subordinates"Let's go."

Reena was still angry and felt frustrated.She kept thinking about how her life was going to change from the moment she got married.She wasn't even going to have the wedding she dreamed of.

Reena sighed and brought out her card to pay for the hospital bills when she was told that the bills were already paid for by someone.

"Who paid the bills?"Reena was puzzled.

"I'm sorry ma'am,But the person didn't drop his information."The lady at the front desk said and smiled apologetically.

He?So it was a man.But who could it be?It couldn't possibly be....?

Reena snapped out of her thoughts and smiled,"It's fine.Thank you".

 "You are welcome ma'am"The lady said and flashed a polite smile.

On the way back,Reena was absentminded.Hazel noticed it and asked her about it.

"Reena are you okay?"

Reena snapped out of her thought and forced out a bitter smile.

"I'm fine mom"

"You know you don't have to get married"

"I know but I want to.Maybe we would love each other and we will be happy"Reena said with a smile.

Yes!This was what she was going to tell herself every day till she believed it herself.

Hazel sighed and didn't bring it up again.

When they got home,Reena took out her phone and called her best friend,Layla.

"Hey girl!"Layla's energetic voice came from the other side of the phone.

"Hey"Reena said with a bitter smile.

"Ree,are you okay?You sound...sad"Paula asked.

Reena smiled at how attentive her friend was.Then she went ahead to tell her about her marriage.

"What?!"Layla yelled so loudly that Reena taught she wanted to spoil her eardrums.

"No need to get so excited.We are only going to be married for six months,"Reena said remembering what her mother said.After these six months we are going to get a divorce.

Layla clicked her tongue twice and said"Sigh!Too bad.He must come from a rich family."Layla said feeling bad for Reena."But the good thing is you get to live a good life for six months.Don't forget to treat me to a meal at one of these expensive restaurants when you become a rich woman."

Reena laughed and said"Of course I will.I have to start packing now.Bye"

"Don't forget to update me on everything.Bye" Layla said and hung up.

Reena flashed a smile that was real.

This Layla sure knew how to cheer someone up.

Reena let out a sigh and stood up to start packing her things.

She was preparing for her new life now.

The next day.

Reena and her mother had just had their breakfast and were chatting when they heard a knock on the door.Reena stood up with a puzzled look to check who was at the door.

Reena opened the door to see a young man dressed in a professional suit with a group of black clad men behind him.

Who were they?Big shots or what?

The young man seemed to understand Reena confused look and explained,"Good morning Madam.I was sent by the old man to take you to the old mansion."

Oh!So they were sent by the old man.

"Oh okay.Let me just take a few of my belongings."Reena said and closed the door.She turned around and saw Hazel looking at her with a puzzled look.

Reena sighed and explained"They are here to take me to the old mansion"

Hazel let out an"oh".She thought they were good people because they went someone to pick her daughter.She was a little bit at ease knowing her daughter would be in good hands.

After Reena took the important things out of her belongings,She hugged her mother and they stood in that position for a while.Neither saying,anything just silently crying.

After a while they let go of each other.Reena bid her farewells and took her bag and left with the bodyguards.

After a long ride,the car finally entered the mansion gate.

The mansion was located in the outskirts of the city which made the place quiet and peaceful.It was a good place for the elderly to live in.Reena got out of the car and continued to admire the place.

There was a water fountain in the compound.The mansion looked old but also looked modern at the same time.

As Reena walked forward she realized how nervous she was and her footsteps slowed down.

"Ma'am let's go in quickly the old man is expecting you"The young man's voice broke Reena out of her reverie.

When Reena entered the mansion she saw four people seated.There was an old man seated whom she guessed was probably her grandfather-in-law,and there was a man and a woman who looked to be around fifty.They were probably her husband's parents.And there was a young man who was sure to be her husband.

But Reena couldn't see the man's face because his back was turned to her.

All eyes turned to her and Reena finally had a good look at her husband's face and her eyes widened at who she saw.

Why was it him?
