But would Ren Ying allow his close to a month of countless suffering gone to waste?
Of course not.
So, when he felt the Zapper Eel almost slip out of his hand, he increased his strength even further, suppressing the beast firmly within his hand.
Seeing that the beast had been held firmly, Ren Ying shot out of the water with his full speed.
Just as he got out, he threw the 4-meter-long Zapper Eel straight into the air.
He didn't look at it making its way above the sky, but took out a two-star sword from his space ring instead.
Only with a weapon in his hand, did Ren Ying glance up toward the Zapper Eel, flexing its body crazily in the air as it fell back toward him slowly.
Watching the Zapper Eel pitiful look, he didn't feel much turmoil inside him, unlike before he met Yang Chen and completed his first training session of Lightning Embrace.
This Zapper Eel had courted death on its own by making the first move on him. If it wasn't for him being strong enough to overpower it, then his bones would definitely sink deep into the pond, becoming one of its trophies.
So, the thought of sparring this Zappy Eel if it happened to attack him first had disappeared the moment it popped up in his mind.
As the Zapper Eel in his vision was falling down, closer to him.
Ren Ying held his sword up, aiming for the core part of the beast.
Seeing the deadly sword pointed up by Ren Ying, the Zapper Eel trembled even more aggressively, trying to adjust its position to avoid the sword.
But unfortunately, the distance wasn't far enough for it to readjust its body to a safer place.
Ren Ying stared at the Zapper Eel as it ultimately got penetrated by his sword.
The sword entered through its lower body, and appeared back at the top of its body, tainting the sword tip bloody crimson.
Fresh blood flowed slowly along the edge of the sword, down to the hilt, staining Ren Ying's hand as the Zapper Eel body was stuck in the middle part of the sword. Some blood continued to drip even further away from his hand, into the crystal clear pond, polluting it.
The fishy smell spread everywhere within the pond, masking out the scent of nature.
The Zapper Eel body twisted endlessly in pain, trying to get out of his sword.
But alas, its struggles were determined to be fruitless, as it could only make the sword tremble slightly before returning back to its position as Ren Ying grasped the sword tightly, keeping it still in the air
Ren Ying's face remained unchanged at the sight of Zapper Eel's pitiful state and its bloody smell after living for more than a month in this world.
Wouldn't he feel guilty for killing it?
Unfortunately, no, Ren Ying was too tired to care about such things.
Besides, if the enemies could be cruel and merciless when facing him, why couldn't he do the same?
Being merciful in such a world would never be a good idea.
...
Ren Ying shifted his attention back to reality as he noticed the Zapper Eel body became motionless.
He gritted his teeth lightly, as such a peaceful moment had been ruined by this beast.
Seeing that he couldn't enjoy himself peacefully in the pond anymore, Ren Ying made his way out of it onto the ground while placing the Zapper Eel inside his space ring.
When he arrived on the ground, he took a long black robe out of his space ring and put it on himself unhurriedly.
The moment he put his clothes on, Ren Ying could feel his body temperature rising up bit by bit, making it a bit comfortable.
Next, he took out all of the necessary items needed to create a campfire.
And just like before, he began by arranging the rocks in a circle, followed by dropping a bunch of wood inside.
Then, armed with a steel and glint in his hand, Ren Ying began to strike it against each other.
With the experience from last time, Ren Ying didn't take much time to successfully light the campfire up, instantly radiated its warmth onto his face.
Feeling the warmth from it, he let go of his teeth gritted together slowly as he breathed deeply.
His eyes wandered on the flame, waiting for the right moment to take out the Zapper Eel.
As the flame reflected inside his deep pupil reached half of his height, Ren Ying took out a stick and the Zapper Eel body out of his space ring.
He cut the Zapper Eel body into several parts as its body length and weight were too much for his wooden stick to handle.
Afterward, Ren Ying picked out the best part of the eel and stuck his wooden stick into it as he threw the rest of it into his space ring.
With the fresh Zapper Eel meat in his hand, he found a random spot close to the campfire and set up wooden stands next to each other, before he placed its fresh meat in a stick on it.
Next, he pulled out a bunch of small bags tied tightly from his space ring.
As he learnt his lesson about the poor quality of taste in a food of this cultivation world, Ren Ying had asked for a lot of spices from Yang Chen.
The first time he asked for it, all he got was a scolding from Yang Chen instead of the spices.
Not only that, he also ended up getting plenty of lectures out of Yang Chen too, about how one shouldn't be distracted by such mortal pleasures as this and that.
But Ren Ying refused to change his mind, he kept on asking for it every time he got struck down by lightning.
Perhaps it was his pity and stubborn look that somehow made Yang Chen unwillingly take the spices out of his storage and give them to him to prevent Ren Ying from annoying him any further.
"Tch, stinky old man."
Ren Ying shook his head as he recalled how hard it took him to eventually get this.
He opened the spices bag one by one, and scattered them on the cooking meat with a little smile on his face.
After he was done with it, Ren Ying sat down next to the campfire, his eyes wandering around on the dancing flame.
Time did indeed fly by fast.
In a blink of an eye, he had ultimately finished his first training session with Yang Chen.
Though it left him with heavy mental pain, Ren Ying was still glad he got to train the Lightning Embrace under the guidance of Yang Chen, even if that guy didn't have a good intention.
With just almost a month of training it, he could feel a tremendous increase in his overall strength, like his physique had gotten stronger, faster, and sturdier, which would allow him to survive longer along with building a stronger foundation for his later journey.
Especially the change in his mental strength and mindset, that would prepare Ren Ying to face off against a more difficult and troublesome obstacle in the future.
Besides, he also got to learn more about Yang Chen history too.
Unexpectedly, Yang Chen wasn't from this region, but a farther one away from Desolate Mountain.
It was called Stormwatch Ridge, a second tier region.
The overall size and strength of Stormwatch Ridge were three times greater compared to his region, Desolate Mountain, according to what Yang Chen had told him.
As for how he ended up in this place and the mission that Yang Chen would give to him later on?
Yang Chen had always turned quiet every time Ren Ying inquired about it.
Ruining his plan from getting more information out of him.
Smelling the savory aroma coming from the food, Ren Ying's eyes regained their focus.
He stood up to check the food, whether it was fully cooked yet or not.
He grabbed the meat stick up and flipped it upside down.
Seeing that it was cooked thoroughly, Ren Ying went back to sit on his last spot with the cooked meat in his hand.
He lifted it up closely to his nose to savor its smell carefully.
When the smell entered his nostril up-close like this, he felt his mouthwatering while his stomach began to growl louder as if it couldn't wait any longer.
Feeling how hungry he was, Ren Ying stopped dragging as he lowered the food next to his mouth.
"I hope this taste good..."
He hoped for the best out of this food before biting a small chunk off.
When the food touched his tongue, his tired eyes became energized instantly.
"This is soo good."
He exclaimed shortly as he chewed the food inside his mouth intensely.
Only after he broke the food into several small pieces, did Ren Ying swallow it.
A second after the food traveled from his mouth into his stomach, he could sense a bit of rich energy appearing in his Qi vessel, as the cooked meat got digested once it dropped down to his stomach.
