Chapter 6 - Day 10-12

Day 10:

Yesterday i wasn't feeling well so i didn't do much.

Today i felt better so we got to loot in the closed apartment.

The 13th floor is not good for now as there are 2 zombies inside so we decided to go for the 9th and 8th floor for today.

We set off at 9:00 all geared up.

Lana takes the lead and we start to go down step by step, floor by floor

On the 9th floor, she checks the hall first, but nothing, we go in and there are no zombies, there are no zombies inside too.

We quickly looted this place but below we heard a lot of noise we thought there must be zombies.

So we looted from the 14th to the 4th, except on the 8th where we heard a lot of zombies, and on the 13th where i saw two zombies it's doable but we'll go later on.

For now, as we still have enough supply we decide to not risk it and go back up.

I think we need to muscle up, so starting now when we are safe enough we will do a bit of exercise every day, we don't have any equipment for now but we might find some in the future so for now we just use the ground and our bodies.

We need to strengthen not only our minds but also our body for what's to come. I wanted to train our stamina too but there is not enough place or not enough equipment for the like of running.

Day 11:

"Today will be the day we get to the first floor."

-"Yes but i don't know if we can get out of the building, the ground floor will surely be swarmed with zombies."

"Yes, we should try to escape the city to go to the countryside."

-"Indeed, there are just too many zombies in here we'll need a nuclear bomb to kill them all."

"First let's go all the way down to the 2nd floor while taking everything we can on the way."

And that's what we did.

We encountered a zombie that i took care of alone with a push and i put my metal bar into its head. I think now we can kill a single zombie easily ourselves.

We found quite a lot of comics which is good news against boredom.

On the second floor we can hear a lot of growling just below us, looting this floor was quite stressful.

We get on the staircase. I gulp, i look at Lana, she is as anxious as me.

My hands are moist, my mouth is dry, and every single cell in my body wants to run away, i feel a tingling sensation through my body, its adrenaline, excitation!

I open the door to peek at the main hall, i don't know how many zombies there are here. 30 to 20 i think.

I get out of the way and Lana looks in the opening of the door.

She gasp.

We went back up to the 14th floor.

"We looted everything now, we can last 15 days with the food and water we have."

-"Yes, let's make a plan to get out of here and get out of the city."

"Maybe we could use the guns to kill them we have enough bullets for this number."

-"But that's if we put just one bullet in each zombie but i never shot with a gun before, and the sound could attract zombies from outside."

"We don't have silencers but can't we make them? There were videos of it."

-"No it wouldn't work with our gun and ammo even if i knew how to make silencers."

"Why wouldn't it work"

-"Because suppressor or not the sound still goes over 110 decibels, so we would need special ammo called subsonic that doesn't go over the speed of sound but below so the sound is greatly reduced. For a minimum of silence, you would need these types of bullets and a silencer, then we wouldn't be heard from very far."

"So we can't do this."

-"No we can't"

"How about luring them away with sound like music we have a radio here maybe if we threw it outside they will free a path for us?"

-"That's a good idea, so we will throw the radio from the second floor to the front door and we get out by the backdoor."

"That could work but we need to know the situation of the backdoor before, let's look at the window."

-"There are 4 of them right now it's doable but let's take our time, we have 2 weeks maximum to get out of here."

We had found another backpack on the 4th floor.

For the next day we prepared for our journey, we packed clothing, water, food, medicine, and daily necessities ready to take off at any moment we had found. I took some books too in my backpack.

We stayed up there looking out the window to see if the zombies close to our exit route go away. I am looking at the city from the terrace, it has been a while, i see zombies everywhere, and sometimes i can hear gunshots, looking at the city from up there feel lonely. That may be why i didn't look from the moment i wasn't alone anymore.

While i was looking at the sun setting Lana came to me.

"There are 2 more, now there are 6 at the door."

-"Hmmm. We have another radio?"

"Yes, we do."

-"Then we will bait them so we can run into the city's back alley, there was never anyone in the back alley as they are narrow and dirty but it's perfect for us, we will walk to go to the outskirts of the city, i think it will take 1 hour if we walk fast."

"And we will kill the zombies on the way as the alleys are too narrow to be encircled, that's a good plan. I think we need to go after lunch so that we can go on long enough without a break."

-"There are many zombies in the street here as it is densely populated but in the outskirts we will find a car and get to the countryside."

"Can you drive?"

-"Can you?"

"Yes, i have a license."

-"Then you'll drive."

"Sure."

Day 12:

In the morning Lana went to fetch some rope to attach to the radio, if we just throw it it will surely break.

Today we will test our back alley bait we got to the window a little farther from the one we used to observe the door and i started the radio attached with a rope. I take the rope and let it slide down until the radio touches the ground.

The zombies, hearing the emergency message broadcasted in a loop get to the radio and move away from the backdoor. As they were about to walk over it i took it back.

-"It worked."

"Yes, but they almost broke it what if the radio goes off and the zombies get back to the door?"

-"Yes that's true it will take a minute to get to the door of the first floor."

"I have an idea, instead of putting it on the ground how about letting it in the air but above them, they will be attracted but no longer able to catch it."

-"That's brilliant let's do that but we need something else for this plan."

"What do we need?"

I start to head out of the room and say:

-"Some tape to attach the rope to the window."

"There is some in the living room in my apartment."

-"That's good news"

10 minutes later i got back with the tape and stuck the rope to the window.

The radio goes just overhead while they stay just below.

"It worked!"

-"Yes, pull it we need to save battery and now we need to think about the part of the plan concerning baiting the zombies from the main hall outside or just at the front door."

"Can't we do the same thing with the radio?"

-"I don't know but i think the one too far inside will most likely not hear the radio outside, it can make sound but not that much you see."

"Indeed it's not that loud."

-"I am going up i will think of a plan."

"Alright."
