Blaze faced the enormous steel doors of the warehouse, his nerves on high alert. The quiet around him felt eerie, with the wind rustling against the abandoned buildings. His security team had locked down the area invisible but present. He adjusted his earpiece to ensure he could talk to Arthur and the team.
"I'm heading in," Blaze said in a low determined voice.
"Got it, Boss. We've got eyes on all exits," Arthur replied .
Blaze gave a nod and signaled. Two of his men stepped forward with crowbars forcing open the rusty doors just enough for him to squeeze through. The doors creaked , the sound echoing in the vast dark space inside.
Blaze entered the warehouse. Dust and a hint of oil filled the air. The huge area had little light, with just a few overhead bulbs blinking now and then. Piles of left-behind boxes and equipment made a maze of dark spots. Blaze moved , his keen eyes looking for any sign of motion.
A quiet noise caught his attention—hushed voices echoing from the warehouse depths. He clenched his teeth as he tracked the sound, his fingers grazing the hidden gun at his hip. The voices grew louder as he approached.
Blaze shoved the other door open, his keen eyes sweeping the dim interior. Rust and dust filled the air, and his faint footsteps added to the unsettling quiet. The huge bare area stretched before him lit by random light beams streaming through cracked windows high above.
Savannah wasn't there.
He raised his voice, a sharp command cutting through the silence. "Move in!"
His security team, clad in tactical gear, swarmed into the building, their weapons drawn and their eyes scanning every shadow. They moved systematically, clearing corners, checking for hidden compartments, and looking for any trace of Savannah. The tension in the air was palpable as they realized the place was completely deserted.
"Boss." Marcus, the monitoring chief, approached with care, tablet in hand. The screen showed the live tracking feed they'd followed to the warehouse. "This is the location where the car stopped. There's been no movement since."
Blaze took the tablet, his sharp eyes analyzing the data. The car had indeed stopped here, and there were no signs of it leaving. His fingers tightened around the tablet as realization began to dawn on him.
"This was too easy," he muttered under his breath, his tone laced with frustration and suspicion. "He wanted us to find this place."
Arthur, who stood nearby, looked confused. "Boss, what do you mean?"
Blaze pointed to the empty area around them. "Think it through. Every step we've tracked brought us here. A car that's a mirror image of mine. A spot that's simple to trace. It's almost as if he's leaving us clues."
Arthur's eyes grew large as he understood. "You think he did this on purpose? To throw us off?"
Blaze nodded, his face getting even darker. "He's messing with us. He wanted us to find this place because it's empty. He's either buying time or leading us further away from where Savannah really is."
The realization rippled through the team as Blaze's words sank in. The room, once filled with the sounds of methodical searching, fell silent. Everyone's focus shifted to Blaze, waiting for their next orders.
Arthur spoke up, keeping his voice calm even though things were getting tense. "If this is a distraction, he must have a reason. Maybe he's moving savannah, or he's just trying to slow us down while he gets ready for something else."
Blaze's mind was spinning as he thought about their choices. He squeezed his fists thinking about Savannah being used like a pawn in this sick game. "Marcus," he shouted, "Check every camera within ten miles. I want to know if any car matching the one we're looking for has left the area."
Marcus nodded, his fingers flying over the tablet as he accessed the broader surveillance network. The team scattered once more, searching for any hidden clues or evidence that might have been left behind.
As the team worked, Blaze stood in the middle of the warehouse, staring off into space. The pieces of the puzzle were all there, but something was missing, driving him crazy. Why did they go through all this trouble to set up this scene? What was their end goal?
"Boss!" Marcus called out, interrupting his thoughts. "There's nothing. No vehicle left the area in the past hour. It's like they vanished."
Blaze clenched his jaw. "They must be using blind spots—private roads or hidden routes we haven't spotted yet."
Arthur came over, sounding careful. "What's the plan, Boss?"
Blaze faced his team, his face showing both anger and resolve. "This isn't just about finding Savannah anymore. We need to outsmart whoever is behind this. They think they're in the mind games, but they're wrong."
He turned to Marcus and Arthur. "Split up the team. Half stay here and check every corner of this place. Look for anything—footprints, fibers, anything strange. The rest come with me. We're searching farther out. Use drones to cover blind spots."
Arthur nodded and started giving orders through his earpiece. Marcus hesitated and then said, "Boss, if this is a trap, going any further without a solid lead could be really dangerou-"
Blaze's eyes got cold. "It's already dangerous. For Savannah. I'm not just sitting here waiting while she's out there."
The room fell silent at his words, the weight of the situation sinking in for everyone present. Blaze turned toward the exit, his long strides purposeful and filled with determination.
As the team set out to follow Blaze's orders, the tension kept building up. Blaze hopped into one of the SUVs, with Arthur sitting next to him. The convoy of vehicles took off, ready to widen the search area.
Blaze's head was spinning with thoughts and feelings. He just couldn't get Savannah out of his mind—her face, her voice, her laugh. Whoever took her really messed up. They didn't realize how far he'd go for her.
As they sped away from the warehouse, Blaze stared out the window, his fists clenched. His voice was barely audible, but the intensity behind his words was unmistakable.
"You can play your games, for now." he muttered.
"But when I find you, you'll regret getting your hands on what's mine. You won't win. Not against me. Not when it's her."
