Savannah's side
Savannah's body trembled as Rodriguez's words echoed in her ears. Tears streamed down her face, making everything blurry. Could this really be true? Her thoughts were all over the place, trying desperately to make sense of the revelation. The small, dark room felt like it was closing in on her, filling her with dread. She breath came in short, shaky gasps as fear gripped her chest.
Outside, Rodriguez gave a satisfied smirk and then walked away, shutting the door behind him with a menacing finality.
In the living room, he flopped down on the couch and poured himself a drink from the bottle sitting on the table. He swirled the amber liquid in the glass before gulping it down, relishing the burn. One drink led to another, and then another. Hours went by, and he submerged in his intoxication, slumped on the couch, his mind fuzzy from the alcohol. A crooked smile spread across his face as he looked up at the ceiling, feeling the booze burning through his body like fire.
Then, as if suddenly struck by an idea, he staggered to his feet, swaying slightly before regaining his balance.
His unsteady steps led him to a particular door. A grin spread across his face as he pulled out a key. He fiddled with the lock, but his hands were shaking so much that he couldn't get it right on the first try. Cursing under his breath, he tried again. And again. His vision was all blurry, making things tough, but eventually, with a loud click, the door opened. He went inside, locking the door behind He stepped inside, locking it behind him, his gaze sweeping over the dimly lit room with a predatory glint in his eyes.
Savannah was lying on the cold floor, her eyes closed, her body curled up as she slept uneasily. Her wrists hurt from the tight chains, and she was shivering from the cold. Rodriguez loomed over her, his eyes dark and sinister. His eyes moved down her body, stopping at her bare thighs. Slowly, he took off his blazer and crouched beside her. His fingers twitched with excitement as he reached out and touched her soft flesh gently.
A strange sensation stirred Savannah from sleep. Her eyelids fluttered open, when she saw Rodriguez kneeling at her feet, a wave of nausea rolled through her. His expression made her stomach churn, his eyes filled with an unsettling hunger.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Her voice was sharp, despite the fear creeping up her spine.
Rodriguez looked at her, his eyes dark and scary. "You're so beautiful," he murmured, reaching out to touch her face.
Savannah pulled back. "Get out. Now!" She sounded strong, her anger fighting the fear. She tried to break free from the chain on her wrist, but it wouldn't budge.
Rodriguez laughed and smiled even more. "Not until I make you mine."
He moved closer, his breath warm on her skin. Savannah struggled harder, pushing at him, but he was stronger, heavier. She had to do something. Her eyes darted around the room, searching desperately. Then, she saw it a brick lying just within reach. Desperation fueled her as she stretched her fingers toward it. Almost... almost...
Rodriguez yanked her hair, pulling her head back. "You're so beautiful," he murmured again, sending chills down Savannah's spine. His grip got tighter, making his intentions clear.
Her fingers finally closed around the brick. With all her strength, she swung. Thud!
Rodriguez's body jerked as the brick struck his skull. For a second, he just smiled like it didn't bother him. Then his eyes rolled back, and he crumpled to the floor with a loud thump.
Savannah panted, frozen in place, staring at his still body. Was he out cold? Dead? She didn't care. She just needed to get out.
Her hands were shaking as she searched for the key. Time seemed to drag on forever before her fingers found the cold metal. She fumbled with the lock, her hands too shaky to steady herself. Finally, with a click, the chain fell away.
Tears blurred her vision as she looked at her freed wrist, seeing the bruises forming on her skin, and the man who had almost taken everything from her. Then she saw him move, letting out a low groan.
Savannah wiped away her tears. No time to waste. She scrambled to her feet, her body sore, her mind screaming for her to run. Without looking back, she bolted for the door, heart pounding in her chest.
She ran for her life.
As she pushed open the heavy door, she stumbled outside into the open air. The night was dark, the moon hidden behind thick clouds. A chill ran down her spine as she looked around.
Tall trees surrounded the house, their twisted branches stretching out like bony fingers. It was just like before—endless forest, same eerie silence. A sick feeling of déjà vu washed over her. Was this just a coincidence? Or were they playing some cruel game with her?
Her breath hitched as she ran her trembling hand through her messy hair. Her mind was racing—should she run or surrender? If she ran, what would she find in the forest? Would she escape, or would she meet the same end as before? Would she wake up in a different year again, lost and confused?
Gathering her courage, she decided.
She ran.
Her bare feet slapped against the wet ground, twigs breaking under her weight.
The cold air stung her exposed skin, and her lungs burned with each breath. The trees seemed to go on forever, a maze of shadows and whispers. Fear gripped her chest, but she kept pushing forward, not letting doubt take a hold.
Meanwhile back at the house, Rodriguez shifted. It had been two hours since he'd collapsed, his head still throbbing from the hit. A voice cut through his hazy, drunk state.
"Boss, what happened? You're bleeding."
Rodriguez's fingers grazed his forehead, coming away slick with blood. His gaze snapped toward the empty space where Savannah had been. His expression darkened, jaw clenching in barely restrained fury.
"Where the hell is she?!!!!!!" he growled.
The man hesitated, glancing toward the open door. "She wasn't here when I came in."
Rodriguez's fists balled at his sides. His blood boiled as the realization sank in. She had escaped.
"Find her. Now."
His order was sharp, dripping with venom. His men sprang into action, vanishing into the night's shadows. Rodriguez let out a sharp breath, feeling his heart pound in his head. Even though he still tasted the alcohol in his mouth, the rage inside him was stronger, taking over. His target had slipped away.
And he would hunt her down.
