Baldwin's Mansion
After two enchanting weeks in the mountains, Savannah and Blaze finally returned back to their mansion—a place that now felt more like a monument to their journey together. The big double doors creaked open, showing the fancy yet cozy interior lit by soft evening light. The chandeliers sparkled above, and the smell of lavender and vanilla filled the air, making it feel like home.
"Finally," Savannah sighed, taking off her shoes by the door and sinking her feet into the soft rug. Her eyes lit up as she looked around. "As beautiful as the mountains were, I missed this."
Blaze chuckled, setting their luggage down and running a hand through his dark hair. Not as much as I missed seeing you curled up on our couch," he replied, pulling her close.
They spent the evening getting back into their routine. They laughed and talked about their trip while unpacking souvenirs and photos. The crackling fireplace added to the warmth as they eventually sank into the oversized sofa. Blaze wrapped an arm around Savannah, her head resting on his chest.
"Promise me we'll do this every year." she whispered.
"Every year." Blaze said softly, lifting her chin for a kiss.
Bliss of Life
After they came back, life slowly got back to normal. Blaze, always the charming business owner, dove right back into the hectic world of corporate leadership. His days were filled with meetings, deals, and strategy sessions. No matter how swamped he was, he always found time for Savannah—a text here, a call there, and sometimes even sneaking out early just to surprise her.
Meanwhile, Savannah, went back to her job at the hospital. The fast pace of the ER soon had her right back in the swing of things. Her kind and steady presence was a big help to both patients and coworkers. Despite the demands of their respective careers, they never let the distance of the day diminish their connection.
Blaze made it a point to check his phone during his busiest hours, always responding to Savannah's texts with quick, thoughtful replies. Her messages-whether a simple "Hope your day's going well!" or a picture of her lunch with a heart emoji-brought a smile to his face.
Evenings of Love
No matter how crazy their days were, evenings were special. When the sun dipped down, their home came alive filled up with warmth and coziness. Dinner was usually a team effort. Savannah would laugh at Blaze's clumsy cooking attempts, and he'd joke about being a master chef.
They'd sit together at the long dining table, candlelight dancing in their eyes as they chatted about their day. Later, they often ended up on the back patio, staring at the stars and sipping wine. Sometimes, Blaze would pull her close and whisper, "You're my whole world." Savannah would just smile softly and rest her head on his chest.
Five Months of Bliss
Time flew by as Blaze and Savannah enjoyed love, passion, and an unbreakable connection. They balanced their busy careers with their personal lives pretty well. Weekends were all about spending time together, making every moment count.
They'd sometimes go on impromptu road trips, driving by the coast with the windows down, laughing while listening to the waves. Other times, they'd just stay in, watching their favorite shows or reading books in their home library.
Their love showed in the small stuff. Savannah would leave sweet notes on Blaze's desk, reminding him to take breaks or telling him how much she loved him. Blaze would surprise her with flowers at the hospital or give her little gifts that showed how well he knew her.
The mansion, once a symbol of their success, became a testament to their growing love. Its walls were adorned with memories-photographs from their trips, art they had chosen together, and even a few funny mementos from their playful moments.
The Unspoken Promise
As each day went by, Blaze and Savannah's connection only grew stronger. Their shared laughs, quiet moments of understanding, and unwavering support for each other made their life together feel full of love and peace.
While the world outside their mansion kept changing, their life together stayed steady—a safe place where they could always find refuge, no matter what challenges or successes came their way.
One night seemed like any other, but there was something oddly calm about it. In the Baldwin mansion's kitchen, Savannah stood firm, her apron tied tightly around her waist, and her hair pulled back in a messy bun, with a few strands falling in her face. She brushed them away, completely focused on the dish she was making. Lucas, the head chef, watched from a safe distance, looking pretty nervous.
"Mrs. Baldwin," he started, his voice tinged with worry, "let me take over. If something goes wrong—"
Savannah shot him a sharp look, one brow raised. "Lucas, I said I've got this. It's just crispy potatoes with avocado salsa, not rocket science."
"But-"
"No buts! You're here for moral support and emergency help, nothing else," she said, waving a spatula at him.
Lucas sighed and stepped back. He watched closely, ready to jump in if anything went wrong. After almost an hour of hard work, Savannah stepped back to check out her dish. The golden, crispy potatoes looked great next to the creamy avocado salsa she'd carefully seasoned. She smiled proudly.
"Not bad, huh?" she asked Lucas, who nodded unsurely.
"Impressive, ma'am, but it seems like…" He paused.
"Like what?" she asked, squinting at him.
Lucas cleared his throat. "Like it's missing something?"
Savannah's face lit up. "Cilantro! I forgot to add the cilantro." She turned to Lucas. "Can you run and get some?"
He shifted uncomfortably. " Um unfortunately, we don't have any cilantro left, Mrs. Baldwin."
Frowning, Savannah grabbed her phone. She dialed the one person she knew she could count on.
The call connected on the first ring. "Ana?" Blaze's deep, calm voice greeted her.
Savannah stood in the warm kitchen light, holding the phone to her ear while leaning on the counter. The head chef, Lucas, stared at her, puzzled and surprised.
Savannah kept her voice casual but warm. "Can you grab some cilantro on your way home?" She checked the time.
Lucas blinked, finally figuring out who she was talking to.
"Just cilantro? Need anything else?" Blaze asked, sounding amused.
"Nope, just cilantro," she said with a small smile. "Make sure it's fresh. Don't pick anything that looks half-wilted."
Blaze chuckled softly. "Got it, fresh cilantro. Anything else, Ana?"
"Nothing else," Savannah replied, biting her lip in thought. "Just drive safe, okay?"
"You got it, honey. I'll be home soon."
Savannah ended the call, turning back to the counter to inspect her dish again. Her expression was serene, though Lucas was far from it.
"Mrs. Baldwin," Lucas finally blurted, "who… did you just call?"
Savannah looked at him, her eyebrows raised a bit. "Blaze, of course."
Lucas blinked, surprised. "You called Mr. Baldwin to bring cilantro?"
"Yeah," she said like it was no big deal.
"He's picking up cilantro himself?" Lucas asked, still trying to wrap his head around it.
"Why's that so surprising?" Savannah wondered, looking at him funny. "He doesn't mind doing a little errand."
Lucas opened his mouth to reply, then closed it, his mind racing. Of all the things he thought Blaze Baldwin the intimidating business tycoon and a man with a reputation for ruthlessness-would do, running out to buy fresh cilantro wasn't on the list.
Meanwhile, miles away, Blaze stood in a dimly lit room. Candles flickered, casting long shadows on the stone walls. Arthur, his right-hand man, stood next to him with a clipboard, while a few other guys hung around. Before them was a man slumped in an old bathtub, his face pale and his expression filled with dread.
As the call ended, Blaze slipped the phone back into his pocket. His demeanor shifted instantly, his warmth evaporating as he turned back to the man before him.
Blaze said darkly, giving Arthur a nod. "Wrap it up for now."
Arthur gave a curt nod, motioning for the other men to follow suit. Within minutes, the room was cleared, the business left unfinished-for now. Blaze walked out, adjusting his jacket.
In the car, his driver glanced at him in the rearview mirror. "Where to, Mr. Baldwin?"
Blaze let out a sigh, thinking about the woman waiting for him at home. "I need to go to the market for some cilantro."
Back at the mansion, Savannah was carefully arranging her dish on a plate. Lucas watched her, half expecting something to go wrong. The kitchen was quiet except for the sound of utensils clattering and the fridge humming softly.
When Blaze finally walked in, carrying a small brown paper bag, Savannah's face lit up. "You're back!" she said, hurrying over to greet him.
He handed her the bag with a playful smile. "Here's the cilantro you wanted."
She looked inside and nodded approvingly. "Perfect! Thanks."
Blaze leaned down and kissed her temple. "Anything for you, Ana."
Lucas stood to the side, his jaw slack. He watched Savannah go back to cooking, humming happily, while Blaze leaned against the counter, looking at her with a soft smile.
The chef could hardly believe it. This was the same man who struck fear into the hearts of powerful business executives, now fetching cilantro for his wife and watching her cook as if it were the highlight of his day.
Blaze noticed Lucas staring and raised an eyebrow. "Problem?"
"N-no, sir," Lucas stammered, quickly cleaning the counter.
Blaze smirked and turned back to Savannah. "Need help, Ana?"
"No. Just sit and wait. Dinner'll be ready soon." she said, waving him off.
As the night unfolded, the two sat down for a quiet dinner, enjoying the meal Savannah had worked so hard to prepare. For Blaze, the cilantro was a minor detail; it was the effort and love behind the meal that made it unforgettable. For Savannah, it was the simple act of Blaze running the errand that made her heart swell with love.
In their world, even the smallest gestures spoke volumes, and that night was another reminder of how deeply intertwined their lives had become.
