My God, Ava

Sophie

The Guys bought me and Ava some drinks. It cheered me up and made me forget about the encounter with Mr. Asshole. There were many private booths adjacent to the bar separated by a glass door. Inside the booth, it was elegantly designed to give you that surreal drinking experience. Ava sat beside me at the table, and looked in high spirits and was chatting cheerfully with the guys. I was glad I came here, I guess it is nice to go out sometimes and have fun. I should take Ava's advice for that. It is not that I don't want to enjoy and have a bit of fun but I am afraid that If I become too happy something bad might happen. I know most people have that fear of unknown but in my case it is extreme given my past experiences. But, I try to be as calm as possible and not let fear overtake my mind. I try to do things normally as much as possible.

I was deep in my thoughts, when Ava poked me quite mercilessly.

"Awwwww", I cried violently startling everyone on the table.

All eyes on the table stared at me with concerned eyes, One of the guys uttered worriedly, "Is everything fine, Sophie?"

I was embarrassed and looked menacingly at Ava, "Yeah, I am fine. I felt something on my arm, might be some insect. Don't worry" replied I grimacing with pain.

When everybody returned to their conversation, I turned to Ava "Are you crazy, Why did you poke me?" Said I angrily.

Ava looked at me and smirked. My god, she smirked. I was fuming now and was going to burst into anger when she replied, " I tried to 'gently' call your attention, Madam but you were lost in your world"

"Oh my bad, Ava and Why were you gently calling me? " cried I breathlessly. This girl is just too much sometimes.

Ava looked at me and commented, "Well you look agitated. Calm down Sophie, you look ready to fight."

I was ashamed to lash at her like this way.I took a deep breath and calmly replied, "I am sorry for lashing at you like that, Ava. I am a bit wound up after seeing that A-hole."

It piqued her interest like a mouse seeing a slice of cheese and told me to tell her who I was talking about.

I told her what happened at the ballroom and she listened intently.

""How was he, I mean what did he looked like?" replied She shamelessly.

"Seriously, I told you about an a-hole who I met and You are asking me how he looked. How does it matter how he looked, he acted like a jerk." Cried I infuriatingly.

"Okay look, You were the one who were standing in the middle of a ballroom when you collided with him and you were the one who banged her head on his chest. He saved you from falling in a ballroom full of people. You should have thanked him Sophie." Stated she blankly. What she was saying was true. He sure saved me but he should have acted a a bit civil. He straight out called me a gold digger and in-clear-terms a rich-man-trapper.

I was burning red with rage, "Are you his friend or mine ? And after he so selflessly saved me he insinuated that I was deliberately standing there waiting to collide with a gentlemen to trap him in my clutches." mentioned I furiously.

Ava was smiling now.

I stared at her disbelieve evident in my eyes, "Now, you are getting on my nerves Ava."

"I have never see you so angry on anyone. Your face looks like tomato. It's funny to see such a reaction for an unknown man" Stated Ava trying to suppress her laughter. It was not just a man it was Him that handsome-overbearing-judgemental-jerk.

"Okay okay enough about me Back to the point on why you poked me?" Replied I changing the subject. I don't want to talk about that man.Even thinking about him sent my blood boiling.

She was going to reply when a waiter came and said my name at the table.

"Yes" Said I. He turned his eyes towards me and replied pointing towards a beautiful looking colored drink on the tray he was holding in this hand . "Madam, This drink is for you. Complements from a gentleman here."

Oh, this was not expected. Who sent me this drink? Should I take it or not? Probably the best would be send it away. I had enough drinks and who-knows who this gentleman might be. Could be any random or even a creepy guy here.

I was going to send him away with the drink when Ava literally shouted, " Keep it here and tell him thanks".

Now it was my turn to poke Ava, " What are you doing accepting a drink from a stranger? We had too many drinks, we don't need it anyway." Murmurmed I. Nevertheless, it had been done. The waiter kept the drink on the table at my side and went away.

Ava turned towards me, "Don't overthink Ava. Just drink it. I don't think anyone would here would add anything in your drink. Trust me, This is a safe place and this gentleman can be handsomely rich and might ask you on a date? It would be so romantic" Said she with a gleam in her eyes.

If I said anything to Ava, I know it would not make any difference. I was already angry and she was probably right. I should not think too much about it. I took the drink in my hands and took a generous sip. It was beautifully adorned with slices of fruits and it tasted delicious with a tinge of fruitiness. I quite liked it. It was my type of drink, I savoured it and it brightened my mood.

Everyone at the table was looking at me. " Is something on my face?" Questioned I wiping my mouth.

The Guys looked embarrassed and were looking here and there anywhere but me. It was awkward. Ben sensed the puzzled look on my face and declared that my face was fine. It was just I was smiling at my drink.

"Oh that, This drink is really amazing." Stated I matter-of-factly and continued enjoying it. I thought to myself, I would definitely ask about this drink and get its name from the bartender.

Now, it got me curious as to who this gentleman was who sent me this drink. I can say that his taste is meticulous. Maybe, I can find the waiter and tell me who the gentleman was.

It was getting pretty late. We should leave now. I turned to Ava to tell us we should be leaving, when I noticed Ava was not there. When did she leave and most importantly, Where was she now? I got up hurriedly and asked the guys If they knew where Ava was. They had thought she had gone to ladies room. I told them I was going to look for her. They offered to find Ava for me but I politely declined the offer and said my goodbyes. They seemed upset that I was going to leave after finding Ava.

One of the guys, Carl said hurriedly, "It's not safe leaving this late. I can give you both a ride home if you are fine with that. We can exchange contacts and you can contact me after finding Ava".

It seemed genuine but I was not sure of accepting his Offer. And I have to ask Ava If she would be okay with Carl dropping us at home. With that thought, I told him that I will see what Ava says and left to search for Ava.
