Fleeing Beauty

Lorenzo-

Damn. This girl could run. He was smiling seeing Sophie flee like her life depended on it. He was standing at the door of his bedroom watching her flee.

Kitten, this is the last time I am letting you run from me, thought Lorenzo with a smirk on his face. He was taken off-guard tonight. He had not expected to see her tonight. She was his sweet surprise, thought he. The kiss, it was amazing. He had been with many women but a kiss had never felt like this. It sent sparks down his spine. He could still feel the taste of her on his lips. She had kissed him back more passionately. It could have turned into mire, had she not started crying. Her beautiful emerald eyes were filled with tears. He could not see her cry, it made unexplainable emotions arise in his chest. He could not bear her sadness. He will make her cry but only in pleasure. She was soon going to be his.

"Sir. You have been asked about. The Guests are waiting for you." A servant had come to where he was standing near his bedroom door. Lorenzo had been deep in thought and the Servant was looking at him with confusion in his eyes. He had never seen lorenzo like this, with a real smile on his face. He was giving Lorenzo an odd look. Lorenzo pulled himself together, gave him a hard look and left to attend to his so-called guests.

This was his family home, where his family lived. His father had been working on this important deal which he had got today. He wanted to celebrate his achievement. Even though Lorenzo doesn't live here or even worked for the family business. He had created an Empire of his own. After doing his first project and creating his dream hotel. He had started working on his own. He bought land throughout the states and started building hotels and resorts. They were a great success and Lorenzo left his family business to completely focus on his own. After acquiring wealth on his own, he bought the hotel which he had so tirelessly worked for in his youth from his father. Today, he was competing with his fathers business. He has as much influence on the business world as his father. But still that didn't exempt him from family duties, he had to show up for every event. He was the elder one and his father expected him to be the heir to his business. He didn't want any of that but he could not run away from his legacy. It was because of his dumb-ass younger brothers. They were not conventionally dumb but were a real pain in his ass. Charles and Dan, they both had no interest in the family business. They keep themselves away from it. Charles is rarely home, he had gotten into his head to travel the world. He is always on the run, always away from the home roaming the world. And Dan, he is doing his medical degree. It was always clear to him that he wanted to become a Doctor and serve the world. He lives in the city but doesn't live here. He has his own place and occasionally comes home. It was easy for them to just walk away and do whatever the shit, they want to do. I am the elder one in the family and unfortunately can't run away from my duties. So, It's me who have both his business and my fathers business to look after. My father is still fully capable of running his business but he keeps making different excuses to remind me of the family legacy. He had called me yesterday to organise this event. I had no interest of doing it but my father has a bad habit of never taking no as an answer. That is the reason, his business had flourished. In all my siblings, I only share this competing streak with my father. We both couldn't take no for an answer.

Lorenzo was walking through the hallways with his back straight and alert eyes, he liked to be on guard everywhere. He didn't not trust anyone. When you flourish in business, you develop many enemies along the way. You can never put your guard now. You have to always keep the strong facade, no matter what's going on in your life.

His family home was a modern-classic architecture. From outside, the structure looks quite Modern but inside it is classically decorated giving it an ancient vibe. The hallways are long and wide with yellow lamps giving it an eerie glow. It's walls were lined with the photos of our ancestors. Many people, both guests and servants stopped to greet me. I gave them a little nod and continued walking. I reached the ballroom and I was not surprised to find two guards were guarding the door. They opened the door for me and I stepped inside. The ballroom was decent sized and now it was filled with people. When I entered, everyone stopped mid conversation. I spotted my father at the end of the ballroom and without giving anyone a glance walked towards him. Tonight I didn't have any time to waste on these small conversations. People made way for me and I reached my father.

I approached towards my father, who was there with my mother laughing about something. They didn't notice me. They were always mushy with each other. I had to cough so they would notice me. They both saw me and a big smile broke on my mother's beautiful face. Eve Rayson was still the most beautiful lady I have ever seen. She was elegant with sharp cut features. Growing up, I was always told that I looked like my mother. But in personality we couldn't be more different. She was loving and kind while I was intimidating. My father was a classic handsome man, even in this age he most certainly looked better than me. My brothers looked most like him. The one thing that we have in common is the Eyes, the grey obsidian eyes. They give us power to make anyone fidget under our scrutinising gaze.

" Son, We were looking for you. Where were you?" My father was questionating me.

" I was here, father mingling with our guest's." I looked him in the eye with a tinge of sarcasm in my voice. My father gave me a hard look. " Enzo, It's so good to see you." My mother and my siblings call me that.

My mother came for a hug. I hugged her and felt better. " Johnathan" She gave him a look that told him to drop the subject. My father always listens to my father so he left it at that. "Come on, Boys. Let's get us some drinks." My mother took both our arms on each side and took us to a table. Mother got us some drinks. They were non alcoholic, my mother doesn't drink and we are not allowed to drink in her presence. Nobody could argue with my mother about that. I was sipping my drink and looking around uninterestedly.

"Enzo, Why don't you come home more often? Your brothers are rarely around." My mother looked sad. I didn't like seeing my mother sad.

" Sorry, Mother. I was busy with work. I will come around more often." I said earnestly.

" I will be expecting you, dear." My mother looked happy.

My father was looking at me with a pissed off expression. There was something he wanted to talk about with me but mother was around. He finally got the chance when mother saw someone and got up to say hi to them.

" You enjoy, Boys. I will just go and say hi." She gave my father a quick kiss and left.

My father made sure that my mother was out of earshot when he spoke looking me in the eye, " What's wrong with you? What's with Lawrence's and you? You know this deal is important for our company. Don't you dare Sabotage it." My father burst into anger. H had this ongoing deal with Lawrence's, he had himself told me to look after that deal. I made time for it and looked into them. I found many loopholes in it. They wanted to invest in the chain of restaurants we pain to open throughout the states, it was fine but they wanted access to our stores. It didn't settle with me so I looked after it. I found they were in some drug trafficking shit and wanted to use the stores for the storage of their drugs,

"Father, I know they are offering a huge investment but I looked into them. They are into some illegal activities. Making this deal with them will sabotage our company." I was sipping my drink leisurely. My father didn't seem convinced but he dropped the subject when he saw Xavier coming. This party was securing a deal with them, we were going to build the city's best hotel together. Xavier was middle-aged but still an impressive man. We had done many projects together. We got up to receive him. We shook his hands and ordered some drinks.

" Lorenzo, it's good to see you son." Xavier said earnestly.

" It's good to see you too, Xavier." I liked this man knowing him my whole life.

We started talking about our latest business acquisitions until my mother came. We stopped our conversation and made way for our mother on the table. Our conversations turned lighter and I ahd good time. But it was getting late, I had to head home. I got up and said my goodbyes. I again ensured my mother that I will come to see her. After saying our goodbyes, I left. I was excited to get home and see what my fleeing kitten was doing.
