After getting shooed away by his father, Julius went back to his royal chambers to get changed into his princely robes. Looking at himself in the mirror, he saw a 4-year-old with smooth pale white skin, brilliant sky blue eyes, and charcoal black in a bowl cut that he thought looked hideous but his father forced him to get, just to match him.
Julius was wearing a princely tailored black military robe with a royal red sash across his upper body, from his right shoulder to his left hip, where his training sword also lay in its scabbard. This royal red sash had a golden eagle in the middle of it with R.M.N.M written underneath it. On his feet were a pair of black shin-high boots.
'Damn, this is what I look like at 4; imagine what I will look like when I'm 20. All the girls are gonna be swooning over me if only I weren't engaged to that little bitch Zyla Hesper, princess of Hesper kingdom.' Julius thought to himself as he became enamored by his own appearance as any true narcissist does.
While Julius was lost in his own appearance, his personal maid, Keira, knocked on the door 3 times and, upon no answer, walked in to see him lost in his own appearance once again.
'Again? How can a four-year-old get lost in his own appearance multiple times? At his age, he should be running around having fun and playing catch, not becoming self-absorbed, ' thought Keira upon noticing Julius.
"Your Highness, Hello?" Said Keira, approaching him until she taped his shoulder, startling him.
"AH, Kiera, I didn't see you there, err what's the problem, I was just admiring my handsomeness." said a startled, slightly awkward Julius
Trying to stifle her laugh, Keira replied, "Your Highness, your parents are waiting for you by the royal balcony, ready to address the crowd here for the birthing ceremony."
"Okay, Keira. I will leave immediately," Julius said as he started walking to the door. Walking through the familiar corridors ordained with royal red carpets and precious art, Julius felt nostalgic. It had been nearly four years since he had entered this world into loving a loving family and a powerful one, too.
5 Minutes later, he arrived at the entrance of the royal balcony, seeing his impatient parents with his new younger siblings in each of their arms, dressed to the nines with disapproving looks. His Father was wearing the same outfit as Julius, with his golden laurel leaf crown resting majestically on top of his head. Julius' mother, on the other hand, was wearing a long flowing royal red dress and her counterpart tiara on her head, It was impossible to tell if she had recently given birth, which gave her the air of a goddess descended upon the mortal world.
"Why did you take so long, my son? Were you checking yourself out again?" Julius's mother, Aurora, joked.
Going completely red Julius answered with "No mother I was just struggling to get into my princely robes again."
"HA AHH, Julius no need to get embarrassed, you get your good looks from your incredibly handsome father." Said Junius as he laughingly replied.
"Enough you two, the citizens are waiting for your fathers big speech Julius." Said Aurora as the balcony doors were opened.
Instantly, the roaring crowd was heard, cheering and celebrating the birth of another Kraser, bringing more stability to the kingdom. Upon hearing this, with a massive smile on their faces, the Kraser family slowly walked out to their adoring citizens, many getting a glimpse at them for the first time since the previous birthing ceremony. When the Krasers reached the edge of the balcony, Junius reached his left arm up and called for silence from the crowd so he could start his speech.
"My people I come before you in a mixed mood, today is an incredible happy event for my family, yet up north the war continues to be waged against those filthy barbarians. They dared to invade our border, kidnap our people to sell into repulsive slavery, and steal our food supplies after a bountiful harvest.
This act of savagery cannot be allowed to go unpunished and punish the enemy we have. Already, our men have conquered the barbarians nearest cities to the border, Fremba, Averom, and Yeom, but this has come with a cost. The cowardly barbarian High Chieftain ambushed soldiers much weaker than him and slaughtered them, including the Legate of the 2nd Legion. Our soldiers fought back and eventually sent him fleeing with his tail between his legs.
The legions fought bravely with steel and determination to take these cities from the barbarians, their blood dripping with every step. I hereby announce a 1 silver pension per soldier so that these families will not struggle financially in the wake of their loved ones' death."
Suddenly cheers of "Long live the King" and "Eternal glory to the fallen" rang out as the passionate citizens expressed their love for the king and the country, happy that the royals cared about the fallen soldiers. After a couple of minutes of cheering, Junius put his hand up again, signaling for quiet so he could continue.
"My people, I am glad you care so much for our fallen heroes. We will beat back the barbarians and liberate them from their unsavory ways. To end this war quickly, I will personally lead the 5th and 8th legion, as well as a contingent of Royal Guardians and Mages, to the northern battlefield, intending to end the war quickly and return peace to our land."
The crowd erupted once again at the news of their King, returning to the battlefield for the first time since the revolution.
"Thank you, my people, for your applause. Onto a happier topic: I would now like to get to the birthing ceremony. I would like you to join me in celebrating the birth of twins, my son and daughter, Prince Septimius and Princess Claudia."
The crowd erupted once again in reverence shouting, "Love live your Highnesses"
"Today, the kingdom has become more stable with a growing royal family. Our stone road network is mostly complete, allowing trade and commerce kingdom-wide, even in far-off villages. Just this morning, I approved a proposal for the port city of Brutium to invest in rebuilding the dilapidated old port left to ruin by the tyrant king.
Among everything that is happening around the continent, I would also like to announce that our ties to the Hesper Kingdom have once again become stronger. My eldest son, Crown Prince Julius, has been engaged to Princess Zyla Hesper of the Hesper Kingdom, who is also 4 years old this year. This will open up a wide variety of options between our kingdoms, including more trade and the possibility of a full military alliance to help defend us from outside threats.
Finally, my people, I wish to thank each and every one of you. It is an honor to be your King. Because of your resilience, we have bounced back from a tyrant king to a fresh and prosperous Kingdom.
Long Live The Kingdom Of ROMANIUM!" Junius shouted at the end, pouring all his heartfelt emotions into his speech.
After waving at the crowd for another couple of minutes, the Royal Family of Romanium walked back through their balcony doors to spend some family time together.
