They Can Lose

This guy… I said slowly, but didn't disturb him.

"Can you handle that?" I asked Dre.

"Yeah, I fought a guy a few days back and his whole power is shield. Talk about luck!" He sounds excited he could finally use this ability.

"Trace." He uttered. If I remember correctly, every time he said that, it meant he used an ability he chose to keep, instead of making it one use.

For context, every ability he copied was one use.

A shield made of familiar energy took form. It looked like the shape of a flower.

After taking form, it floats steadily in front of us.

I didn't stay idle either. By using the mist around me, I could instantly create a protective layer on the shield.

Just as we were waiting for the attack…

"I'm still here!" A female voice came from the sky, announcing her presence. We looked up and saw Miem, flapping the dragon wings on her back. She reminisce of a Valkyrie with that axe and wings.

"Why didn't she use that this entire time?" I couldn't help but complain.

"Annoying monkeys!" Its grand voice filled the sky and land.

It changed its attack to Miem and breathed out. Its attack lit up the surroundings.

From the distance, it looked like three pillars of different colors rising. They were both beautiful and deadly.

"She's going to die." Dre said slowly.

"Believe in her."

Miem descends sharply, facing the breaths head on. She didn't seem to be stopping.

"What is she doing?" Dre put his hands on his head in panic.

I saw through what she was doing and it was risky to ignore it. I raised my hand. The mist in the area flew upward and stopped before the city ceiling.

At the same time, scales start to cover her skin. The breath swallowed her, but she remained unaffected.

The breath continued forward and hit the ceiling. Thankfully, a mist was there to spread out the breath and disperse its energy.

She continued falling and raised her axe to the sky. Then, it increased in size.

"Just what are you!" The dragon was utterly baffled by Miem's abilities. It never saw a human with so many abilities at once, and could easily switch between them!

"I'm your master, I ordered you to return to my side!" Miem swung down the axe and it crashed the dragon's heads. It made an impressive loud thud and the impact caused the heads to hit the ground quite hard.

Dust spread out and exploded to the sky, reaching twelve meters in height and cover everything within five kilometers in radius.

Miem landed near us and panted. Her axe, snake tail, hooves, wings and claws vanished slowly, returning her into a normal human.

"Sunny, how did you… disperse its breath?" She asked between heavy breaths.

"A secret."

Miem looked at me intently. Doubt flashed in her eyes. She seemed to understand something.

"You're a monster, Sunny." She closed her eyes and fell unconscious. I caught her body just in time.

"What did she mean by that?" Dre looked at me, confused.

I stayed silent and took a puff. However, nothing entered my mouth. I got a clear look on my vape, and realized the vape had lost its bottom half.

Before I could say anything, Dre fished out two beads. He crushed one and said hoverboard.

The bead cracked and exploded into a cloud of smoke, and transformed into a hoverboard.

I put Miem on top of it.

"Stay here." I said and walked to where the dragon was.

The dust slowly settled and revealed the mythical beast, laying on the ground weakly. As I couldn't conjure more smoke, I ordered Puffy to protect me. It appeared next to me like a ghost. It gave its bow at me, seemingly saying it wanted its weapon back.

I touched it and it flew away from its hands. I changed its shape into a sword. Yes, only one. If two, the swords would be quite small.

I returned it to Puffy. The phantom stay silent as if observing its new blade. How did this thing even observe? It didn't even have a head!

It slash its new blade a few times, seemingly testing it. It remained silent, as if contemplating if the blade was to its liking. It then raised its thumb.

I swear this phantom is getting more and more alive.

I shifted my attention to the dragon.

"I see, your powers are granted by that person. It makes sense." The dragon opened its mouth.

I didn't know what it was talking about, or I'm interested. Right now, I'm focused on the smoke that's inside its body.

I tried to connect with it and succeed. I guide it to the beast's chest. It took some time.

"Tell me, are they ravaging your land?"

"Yeah, why? It shouldn't be weird to you. You lived for so long and have seen many things. You may also have witnessed many worlds aside from ours."

"Fascinating, how and why did you come up with such a conclusion?"

"Honor's intuition."

"That's what you call yourself, Honor?"

"Yeah, pretty arrogant, right?"

"I've seen humans far more arrogant." It responded and silence ensued. It added, "It fits perfectly."

I didn't comment and focused on guiding the smoke.

"What do you call them?" It asked.

Them? Oh, the shadows, I thought to myself.

"Shadow creatures. Some people call them Dark Devils. People call them with different names. Did you know something about them?"

Then again, it's not like its going to answer, I thought to myself.

"Let them win." It replied without warning.

I frowned and thought to myself, what does that even mean? When I realized the smoke I guided had already arrived on its chest. I turned this speck of smoke into thin wires and wrapped the Primal Bone.

"Any last words?"

"Don't be in despair that you are the only one left… in this universe… in this entire multiverse… only this one still brimming with life, while everything has perished."
