In short: This is kind of a story that doesn’t mess about at the start so you read the first chapter and will know immediately that you like it (or not, but I did). Do yourself a favor and read the first chapter! A very well paced start to the story and the constant switching between past and present keep things engaging rather than disorientating. These switchings help the plot organically develop and emerge in a non-linear fashion. Every time the story switches to the present it shows different aspect of the main character’s life while the past scenes builds up the context that make you curious about how the gap will be filled, so it is satisfying like watching puzzles slowly coming together. The female lead comes across as interesting with intriguing past contrasting with her currently successful career, while the portrayal of her taking care of her kids are realistic enough to make her believable - not just some fantasy/fictional character. The language used is direct but there are enough wit sprinkled on top to keep things interesting. Give it a go!

It's a solid story with a unique story telling. I'm sure there are other works applying the same thing, but this is the first time I read a book like this. The characters are rich, not some empty vessels. It feels like they're real. It's a promising novel. Give it a try.
