Chapter 38: To Know Your Importance, You Have to Be Forgotten

Kylie POV

“Ms. Anne, your 10 AM appointment is here,” the female employee managing the front desk informed me over the phone. “Mrs. Olivia Wilson has just arrived.”

I was in my office—the corner office allotted to me by virtue of my designation as the General Manager of Logan’s pharmaceutical company, Novalife. The client I was scheduled to meet, the person who would bring me one step closer to my objective, had arrived for a meeting. She was none other than Olivia Smith Wilson, Graham’s mother.

My ex-mother-in-law.

She was now standing outside my door, waiting for an opportunity to meet me. I had been hiding from her since the day I survived Graham’s attempts to kill me. Now she was about to see my face for the first time.

“Mrs. Wilson, Hi!” I stepped out of my office to greet her in person, breaching protocol. “Welcome to Novalife. Please come in.”

Olivia was startled when she saw my face and heard my voice. As I had anticipated, she stood frozen in disbelief.
