"Then they all complimented me," she exclaimed, reaching the climax of her story. Her eyes twinkled as she spoke, waving her arms animatedly. A beautiful smile adorned her face, her lashes fluttering.

I was so dazed that I couldn't make sense of her animated explanation. My thoughts were consumed by the feeling of her skin on mine, and the way she radiated happiness. It was almost as if she had a halo. She caressed my hand softly from across the table.

"Are you even listening to me?" she asked, a frustrated pout adorning her face. I struggled to respond, knowing I had not been paying attention. Something else had captured my focus.

"Yes, I am, Yavannah."

She took that as a cue to continue, still grasping my palm. This time, I tried hard to pay attention. "Then Mary was like, 'I scored a nine out of ten. Can you believe that?'" she gasped in disbelief, letting go of my hand in the process.
