Chapter 19: The Recovery

As the weeks passed, the atmosphere shifted subtly but noticeably. Autumn's touch was evident in the fallen leaves, and the usually bustling streets seemed quieter, more conducive to gatherings and shared moments. Those I had wronged or distanced myself from seemed more open to companionship, and groups of friends from different circles began coming together for activities like board games—a rare sight that brought me genuine joy to be part of.

During lunch breaks, we resumed our old habit of gathering together, reminiscent of our early days in the very first semester. This time, there was a new dynamic: while Jackie and Charlize stayed close with Melisandre, I found myself bonding with Joseph, Dane, and our other guy friends. It felt like a balanced arrangement, with support flowing from both sides of our divided group.

Our classes sometimes extended into the late evening, yet despite the late hours, our adventurous spirit endured. We'd venture out to explore different restaurants across the city, sharing meals and stories until well past midnight. On days when classes ended early, we'd organize impromptu badminton matches or Nintendo Switch tournaments at someone's place. These moments with the guys were a nostalgic return to simpler times, where laughter and camaraderie were abundant.

Slowly but surely, the foundations of our friendship were being rebuilt. Everything seemed to be falling back into place, easing the tension that had once clouded our interactions. It was a reassuring sign that despite past mistakes and misunderstandings, genuine connections could still mend and grow stronger over time.
