Upon listening to Monk Guangzhi's words, the Six-Eared Macaque thought about how last night it was he who incited that monk to go and kill their master and disciples and then take the Kasaya. Now that the Jinchi Elder was dead, he was acting as if nothing had happened.
"What do you mean by that? Could it be that you had long coveted that Kasaya, then hid it away, which led to the Jinchi Elder dying of anger and grief, and now you act here as if nothing has happened?"
Monk Guangzhi, already feeling guilty, was at a loss for words upon being pinpointed by the Six-Eared Macaque, stuttering, "No, there's nothing like that, I didn't do anything, I really didn't."
"Is that so?" the Six-Eared Macaque said, squinting at him, "Since you've done nothing, then where is my Kasaya? Where did you take it?"
