Jeremy naturally had no objections.
So, the two of them returned the same way, heading straight to where the chicken had been picked clean.
Although she wasn't nearsighted, she still collected all the usable glasses. The gold shop across the street, though partially looted, still had some left.
Charlotte happily stored all of it in her space.
Next were the three restaurants. Charlotte decided to take the best dining table from one of them, intending to disinfect it and move it to the breakfast room.
Then came the clothing store, and Charlotte entered with excitement.
There were still a few long dresses hanging on the racks, suggesting that the apocalypse had hit during summer.
Charlotte asked Jeremy to shine the light while she wandered around the store.
After taking down the long dresses from the racks and trying them on in front of the mirror, she found the styles to her liking. She then picked the right sizes and tossed all three colors into her room.
Seeing Charlotte so enthusiastically picking out clothes in the store, Jeremy actually felt like he was accompanying a woman shopping before the apocalypse!
Who would have thought that someone who never accompanied a woman shopping in peacetime would be doing so now, even thinking that Charlotte looked better in red?
Jeremy's expression was a bit bewildered, but he continued to be the lighting assistant.
Charlotte rummaged through shorts and skirts on the hangers, taking all the appropriate sizes.
She only took sizes that would fit her; the others were useless.
After the apocalypse, women wouldn't wear these kinds of clothes because they were inconvenient. Even if she took them, they wouldn't be sellable.
Besides these, the rest of the store had been looted clean, leaving nothing else to pick.
Next door was a shoe store. The high heels and sandals on the shelves were still in place, abandoned and worthless.
This was convenient for Charlotte, as she didn't need to escape.
So, she sat on a low stool, pulled out all the suitable-sized shoe boxes, and tried on each pair, keeping the ones she liked.
Jeremy watched in silence as she collected over twenty pairs of sandals, all with heels.
Indeed, she had quite the prowess.
Other clothing stores were basically the same, so Charlotte only managed to collect skirts.
Finally, she found a lingerie store, but it was empty.
Charlotte boldly guessed that due to the lack of water after the apocalypse, people couldn't wash clothes, so they threw them away after wearing. This led to the rapid consumption of clothing in the market, and years later, no clean clothes were available.
In the accessory store, Charlotte just browsed casually, only taking items she particularly liked.
After collecting gold and silver jewelry, she wasn't interested in plastic products.
After visiting all the stores, Charlotte was still a bit unsatisfied, so she asked Jeremy if there were any similar stores nearby.
Jeremy nodded and led her outside.
Near the supermarket were several high-end clothing stores. Although the doors and windows were broken and the floors were covered with rainwater, Charlotte's enthusiasm for finding new clothes was undeterred.
In such stores, there were only a few sample items on the racks, and the goods were in the back warehouse, so Charlotte went straight to the warehouse.
Upon opening the door, she found high shelves stacked to the ceiling, but there was no stock on them. The goods were on the ground, in boxes, and had been rummaged through.
Charlotte had Jeremy move a full-length mirror in and continued to shine the light as she began unpacking suitable sizes and trying them on in front of the mirror.
For T-shirts and similar items, she took all sizes, and she collected all the cropped pants as well.
Of course, there were mostly skirts—waist-exposing suits, sheer long dresses, plaid floral skirts, cinched-waist short-sleeve long dresses, collared fitted knit dresses, pleated long skirts... she took them all.
After going through several stores, she collected hundreds of skirts!
That should be enough!
Wiping the sweat from her brow, she noticed Jeremy's exasperated expression and laughed.
"Waiting anxiously, huh? I love wearing skirts, especially when I can take them without spending any money. I just can't stop!"
Jeremy changed legs to support himself and said淡淡地, "Understood."
"That's good. Let's move on to the next store!"
After hearing what she wanted to hear, Charlotte smiled like a little fox and waved for him to follow.
Jeremy had never felt this tired before; it was more exhausting than fighting zombies all day!
Women really can shop for hours!
Charlotte turned into a building, and it had a total of five floors. The first to third floors were for shoes, and the fourth and fifth floors were for down jackets.
Seeing Jeremy collapse onto the sofa as soon as he entered, Charlotte guessed he must be hungry. She bought a portion of braised pork ribs from the food court.
She set up a table, placed the steaming pot of stew on it, along with two bowls of rice, and ordered two cups of fruit tea.
Jeremy stared at the steaming pot in shock. It contained golden, crispy pork ribs and fresh vegetables?!
Charlotte took a sip of tea and placed disposable chopsticks next to him. "Hungry? Eat first. I'll go try on shoes. I'm not hungry; you can finish it all. If there isn't enough rice, let me know."
With that, she happily picked shoes from the racks with her fruit tea in hand.
Jeremy, drawn by the enticing aroma, swallowed.
He picked up a rib and sniffed it. It was meat! Real meat!
Seeing that Charlotte was really trying on shoes and not paying attention to him, he drank several sips of fruit tea.
He followed her example, taking a small sip of the fruit tea, which was sweet and slightly refreshing.
He hadn't eaten enough in the morning and had spent the whole morning shopping with her. He was both thirsty and hungry.
After waiting a minute and seeing no negative effects on his body, he relaxed and took a big gulp.
After choosing a few pairs of shoes, Charlotte also felt a bit hungry from the aroma. Checking the time with the system, she realized it was already past two in the afternoon.
Time to eat first; the shoes can wait.
She grabbed a stool, sat down, and noticed Jeremy hadn't touched his chopsticks. Curious, she asked, "Why haven't you eaten? Don't you like it? What do you want to eat?"
Charlotte took a bowl of rice, picked up a rib with her chopsticks, and took a bite.
It was so flavorful! It fell off the bone easily with a bite, packed with meat flavor!
Jeremy shook his head, removed his mask, and also took a rib.
It was incredibly delicious! It must have been made by a five-star restaurant!
He had never had such delicious pork ribs before!
Jeremy's eyes lit up, and he couldn't help but devour the meat.
Although there was breakfast in the store, there were no large pieces of meat. He had been craving big chunks of meat for a long time!
Seeing him eating so eagerly, Charlotte thoughtfully ordered another pot of sauced bones from the food court.
When this pot of sauced bones was placed on the table, Jeremy looked at her with eyes like a puppy looking at its owner. If he had a tail, she probably would have seen it wagging wildly!
Charlotte once again felt the allure of good food.
Previously, Jeremy's gaze had been so cold, but now his eyes were bright as light bulbs, and the corners of his mouth even curved up?
Seeing him eating too quickly and choking, she took out a jug of barley tea, which was complimentary from the food court, and poured him a glass.
"Eat slowly; all this is yours. No one is going to take it from you."
The breakfast room had no limits either. The two machines could also get boxed meals. Why did he still look so starved?
Charlotte ate her fill, took a sip of tea, and looked at Jeremy, pondering.
Could it be that she had become so used to eating well?
