Dave plated the fried egg and calmly said, “Don’t worry. Nothing happened. You just held onto me and didn’t let go.”
Bianca’s mind went blank after hearing his words.
It turned out she had initiated the intimacy!
Bianca felt so embarrassed she wanted to disappear. “I drank too much last night, and I wasn’t thinking straight, so…”
Dave walked past her with two plates of breakfast. He set them down on the table, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
“Breakfast is ready,” he said, looking at Bianca.
Bianca closed her mouth and sat down opposite him.
Dave lowered his head, hiding his emotions. He calmly sliced a piece of egg and ate it thoughtfully.
He seemed so composed as if nothing had happened last night.
Seeing his unbothered expression, Bianca cleared her throat. “Mr. Evans, we didn’t... We didn’t do anything we might regret last night, did we?”
Dave looked at her, a subtle gleam in his eyes. Suddenly, he chuckled. “Even if we did, so what?”
After all, they had done the deed that night, hadn’t they?
“Well... I don’t think it’s appropriate. I mean, we just met…” Bianca lowered her head and murmured softly.
“But didn’t we get engaged yesterday? Now, I’m your fiancé,” Dave said, his tone casual.
Bianca looked up in shock, meeting his gentle gaze.
Dave’s words were unexpected, but he continued eating as if it was nothing. Bianca stared at him, confused and speechless.
‘Was he joking?’
“Mr. Evans, don’t joke like that. You know our ‘engagement’ was just a show to humiliate my ex-boyfriend,” Bianca said, forcing an awkward smile.
Dave frowned. “Are you saying I’m not good enough to be your fiancé?”
Bianca felt a headache coming on. Sure, Dave was much better than Haris in looks and personality, but that wasn’t the issue.
“Or do you think I’m too poor for you?” Dave asked, putting his utensils down and staring at her. “Is that why you want to end things?”
“No, no, I didn’t mean that!” Bianca shook her head firmly. She never even thought about it like that.
In Bianca’s mind, Dave was handsome and fit, and he could cook. Besides not having much money, she couldn’t find any faults with him. But they barely knew each other, and she didn’t even know his full name!
Biting her lip, Bianca said hesitantly, “Mr. Evans, you’re a good man, but we’re practically strangers. We’re not even friends. How can we be engaged?”
Dave didn’t respond. Instead, he focused on finishing his breakfast. After he ate the last piece of egg, he wiped his hands with a napkin. It was a simple gesture, but it seemed noble.
Looking at the uneaten food on Bianca’s plate, he asked, “Why aren’t you eating? Is something wrong with the food?”
It wasn’t that Bianca didn’t like the food; she was just lost in thought. She snapped out of it and took a bite of the fried egg. The savory taste of the egg, creamy milk, and cheese was so delicious that she couldn’t help but open her eyes wide in pleasant surprise.
“Delicious!” Bianca grinned at Dave.
‘This man was practically perfect!’
Unbeknownst to her, all the ingredients Dave used were freshly imported and delivered on the same day, making the food taste even better than the usual restaurant fare.
Hearing her praise, Dave’s expression softened. He stood up with a smile. “I was just joking earlier. I promise nothing happened between us last night.”
Bianca watched blankly as Dave put his empty plate in the sink and then went back to the bedroom for a few minutes. When he came out, he was back in his usual clothes, with his cold, distant look.
“I have some work to do, so I need to get going,” he said, opening the door and leaving.
His calm demeanor made Bianca start to doubt if they had even kissed the previous night. Maybe it was all just a dream.
Alone in the strange house, she felt a sense of loss. Bianca bit her lip, trying to reassure herself that it was all just a show. Now that the show was over, they would go their separate ways. Even if she found out his full name, what would it change? They still had nothing to do with each other.
After breakfast, Bianca washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen before leaving.

She couldn’t wear the fancy evening dress to school, so she went home first to change.
As soon as she walked in, she saw Stacey relaxing on the couch while Peter peeled an apple. Her father looked at her with love as he fed Stacey the apple.
Before, it was usually Stacey who looked after Peter. Bianca had never seen her father show Stacey this much affection before.
Rolling her eyes, Bianca went straight to her room. After changing, she went back to the living room.
Stacey asked sarcastically, “Bianca, are you by yourself? Where’s your wealthy fiancé?”
Bianca didn’t want to waste time arguing with Stacey, so she ignored her and headed straight for the door.
Seeing her impoliteness, Peter was about to get upset, but he held back, considering their father-daughter relationship.
Still, he stopped her from leaving so quickly.
“Bianca, if you don’t like Haris, you could’ve just told me. I would never force you to marry someone you don’t love. But you shouldn’t have caused a scene at the engagement party. You embarrassed not only Stacey but also me and our whole family.”
Bianca took a deep breath and turned to her father.
“Dad, I always thought you were smart. How could you be so blind? Open your eyes! Stacey and Haris teamed up to try to take our family’s properties. Did you ever question if the baby she’s carrying is really yours? If you keep letting her get away with this, she’ll betray you sooner or later!”
Stacey’s eyes filled with tears right away. “I’m part of the Scott family too. Why would I want to hurt any of you? You’re just afraid that the baby will threaten your place in the family, so you’re trying to get rid of me. But the baby is innocent...”
“Stop pretending, Stacey. Your fake tears might fool Dad, but not me,” Bianca said, sneering.
Hearing this, Stacey changed tactics. She wore a pitiful expression and threw herself into Peter’s arms, crying bitterly. “Peter, do I have to kill myself to prove I’m innocent?! I don’t care if I die, but what about the baby? Does our innocent baby have to suffer, too?!”
Peter’s face darkened. He believed Bianca targeted Stacey because she didn’t want to share the family assets with her future sibling.
