"Where are we, Uncle?" I asked, looking around, and all I could see was an unfamiliar wilderness.
Not Westmont, not Eastonville. We were in the middle of nowhere, and I dared not imagine what would happen next.
"I don't know, but it's safer here than out there, isn't it?" said Uncle Ray, who fell silent when Lex, who was in the back, chimed in.
"You're just entering vampire territory." Uncle Ray and I looked at each other and turned to the back bench to stare at Lex, who still looked weak. "Make a U-turn, and I'll try to show you the right way."
Shoot! Why didn't he do that earlier? So when he said that, I gave him a disapproving look, and so did he.
"You're the same as your race, which made a mess but kept silent!" I snapped, which made his eyebrows dive. "If you had told me earlier, we wouldn't have gotten lost like this."
