CHAPTER ONE: THE WATER DRAGON SLAYER
A runaway boy was running in the forest in the cold rain. "GET BACK HERE BOY!" a voice yelled as the boy started running deeper into the forest. He ends up tripping and falls into the river. He tries to pull himself up but he started going back down again. He would have drowned if he wasn't saved by the Water Dragon.
"Hello, boy. What are you doing out in the rain?" The Dragon asked.
"I'm a runaway. My father hits me." The boy replied.
"I see. I'm the Water Dragon, Kaito" The dragon introduced himself.
"I'm Airavata." The boy told him.
"Mind if I call you Aira for short?" Kaito asked.
"Sure." Aira replied.
"Well, Aira. How would you like to learn Dragon Slayer Magic?" Kaito asked.
"Really? I always wanted to be a wizard!" Aira replied.
"Well then, I'll teach you Water Dragon Slaying Magic, the power to slay dragons." Kaito explained.
"Cool! When do we start?" Aira asked.
"Tomorrow, I heard it is going to rain as well." Kaito responded.
The Next Day...
Kaito wakes up at the sound of rain and realized it was just another day of rain. He turns and finds Aira sleeping under his wing, cuddling next to him. Kaito smirks to himself and roars loudly inside the cave. Aira jumps up and covers his ears.
"Do you have to do that, Kaito?" Aira shouted at Kaito, trying to stop his ears from ringing. Kaito throws Aira out of the cave and into a shallow river.
"Help! I'm gonna drown!" Aira yelled, splashing in the water. Kaito picked him up and sat him on the grass.
"It's time to start training!" Kaito tells him. Aira raises an eyebrow.
"I thought we weren't going to start until next week. And when it stops raining." Aira responded. Kaito sighed. He has a lot to teach this boy before he become a full Dragon Slayer.
"If you want to learn Water Dragon Slayer Magic, then you must train in the rain." Kaito told him. "You must become one with the rain, as when it rains it makes you become more powerful in battles."
"You can't be serious." Aira chuckled, Kaito looks at him with a serious look.
"I'm dead serious, Aira." Kaito replied. "Now get in the river and run from that tree and back." Kaito points to the farthest tree.
"You're kidding, right? I'm not running in the river." Aira complained as Kaito glares at him.
"Fine! I'll do it!" Aira gets in the shallow water and starts running, splashing water as he runs to the trees and back.
"I... can't... take this..." Aira gets out of the water and drops on the wet grass.
"You better, because the real training starts tomorrow." Kaito told him.
Kaito wakes up and sees Aira is still sleeping. He sets out into the rain and fetches some fish from the river. He grabbed a cup of water and set it beside Aira along with the fish. Then, he uses his roar to wake him up.
"Kaito, why do you keep doing that?" Aira asked. Kaito gives him a glare as Aira looks away.
"I got you some fish." Kaito informed, pointing to the fish that was next to the cup of water.
Aira ate the fish. "Couldn't you find anything else besides water?" He complained.
"Drink the water, it makes your power stronger." Kaito explained.
Aira looked at him and drank the water. "Now, time for some training." Kaito walks outside into the rain with Aira following him.
"Now, repeat what I do." Kaito lets out his breath attack. Ocean blue water shot out of his mouth destroying trees that were in the way.
"That's so cool! Can I try it?" Aira asked. Kaito nodded.
"Now, focus and become one with the rain." Kaito said.
Aira relaxed and took a deep breath. "Water Dragon's Roar!" It was similar to Kaito's but smaller and weaker. It only destroyed a few trees. Aira sat down and crossed his arms, looking up at Kaito who chuckled.
"What's so funny?" Aira shouted angrily as Kaito stopped laughing and looked at Aira.
"Nothing, my boy. You still have a lot of training to do." He said.
"I'll never become a powerful Dragon Slayer." Aira said.
"Of course you will, I just need to train you more." Kaito stated.
1 year later...
As always, Kaito teached Aira to become a Water Dragon Slayer. Not only has Kaito taught him magic but also taught him to read and write until one day, Kaito was walking around in the forest when he saw a dark blue lacrima.
"Aira! Wake up!" Kaito growled as Aira rubbed his eyes.
"What, Dad?" Kaito shows him the Water Dragon Lacrima.
"What is that? Can I eat it?" Aira asked. Kaito chuckled.
"No, my boy. This is called the Water Dragon Slayer lacrima. I found it at the edge of the forest. It's supposed to give you Dragon Force and the power to heal yourself and others. I am giving it to you." Kaito told him as he put the lacrima inside the boy.
"Do you have something that will keep me dry?" Aira asked. Kaito looked at Aira who's clothes are wet. Kaito finds a light blue scarf.
"Wrap this around your neck." He told Aira as he took the light blue scarf and wraps it around his neck.
3 years later...
Aira walked around the rainy forest, wearing a black shirt and his light blue scarf, looking for his target. He sniffs the air, but nothing was found. He suddenly heard footsteps. "Gotcha!" He thought and quickly runs over to where he heard it.
"Water Dragon's Roar!" Kaito uses his breath attack and aims it at Aira. Aira turns around to see a blast of ocean blue water coming his way. Smirking, he dodges the attack, making his way behind Kaito. The Water Dragon looks around for the boy.
"Water Dragon's Wave Fist!" Water covers Aira's right fist and aims for Kaito's head. Then, Aira disappears from sight.
"Where are you, Aira?" Kaito wondered, looking for the dark-blue haired boy but couldn't find him anywhere.
"Right here!" Aira shouted as Kaito looks at him. "Water Dragon's Crushing Fang!" Aira shouted as he swiped his hand towards Kaito.
"You have to hit me harder than that if you want to take me down completely." Kaito said, chuckling at Aira. Aira growls angrily as he cracks his knuckles.
"Water Dragon's Gale Force!" A dark blue Magic Circle appeared in front of him as a huge blast of ocean water went towards Kaito. "Water Dragon's Wing Attack!" Streams of water appeared, aiming for Kaito's wings. "Water Dragon's Talon!" Aira shouted as water surrounded his right foot and he kicked Kaito. Finally, he does one last move. "Water Dragon's Tsunami!" A huge wave of water appeared as it headed for Kaito.
Kaito didn't expect this much from the boy. He collapses to the ground. Aira rushes over to him.
"I hope I didn't hurt you too much." Aira said as he sat down next to his father, proud that he finally knows how to use Water Dragon Slaying Magic. Kaito gets up as his wounds heal.
"I'm very proud of you, son." Kaito gives him a smile. Aira smiles back. They go back to the cave, finally going to sleep. "Get some rest."
"Goodnight, dad." Aira curls up into a ball, going to sleep. Kaito waits until Aira goes to sleep so he can go meet someone. Kaito heads out of the cave and flies into the sky to meet this specific someone.
At a different location...
Kaito leaves the rainy forest to a place where it's more dry and greener. He arrives to his destination, late at night, waiting for someone. Kaito picks up a scent and the footsteps, turning around to see but there was nothing.
"Looking for me?" A deep voice says to the water dragon. The voice gets closer and closer to Kaito. Out of nowhere, the mysterious figure with a fire breath attack. Though Kaito quickly counter attacks it by using his breath attack, canceling out the fire. The figure tackles him to the ground. Kaito is pinned to the ground by a dragon on top of his back.
"Igneel!" Kaito shouted at the fire dragon who happens to be Igneel, the Fire Dragon King.
"That was some tough water you got there, water breath." Igneel chuckles at Kaito, his life time rival. These two Dragons have a long history with each other. As people say "Water can destroy Fire."
"Get off of me, hot head." Kaito shouted, struggling to get out of his position. Igneel gets off of him, clashing their heads together, insulting each other. They break their fight so they can talk about something serious. "Why did you want me to meet you here?"
"Both of us know that we have been training Dragon Slayers for years." Igneel starts off. "I think it's time, Kaito."
Kaito widens his eyes, shocked to hear Igneel say that. Knowing what he is talking about, Kaito nods his head in agreement. "When?"
"Tomorrow, on July 7th, X777." Igneel replied. "I don't want to do it either, but we don't want them to become a monster like Acnologia."
"Alright then. On July 7th, X777 we will enter the Dragon Slayers' bodies via Secret Dragon Slayer Art." Kaito finally agrees to Igneel's plan.
"I already told the other Dragons to enter their Dragon Slayer's bodies on the same day." Igneel informed. "Hopefully one day, the Dragon Slayers will meet each other. Especially ours."
"Until then, I'll see you when my boy meets yours." Kaito says his final words to Igneel. Igneel nods in agreement, smiling at him. The two Dragons fly away and go back to their homes where their sons are waiting for them.
Back home...
Kaito returns back to the cave where Aira is sleeping. He stares at Aira, thinking about all the fun things they did together. Kaito lets one tear escape his eye, hitting the ground. Kaito takes a deep breath before using the Secret Dragon Slayer Art to enter the Dragon Slayer's body. Kaito uses the spell, finally entering Aira's body, early in the morning on July 7th, X777.
"Have a good future, Aira." Kaito vanishes as he says his final words to Aira.
Aira wakes up the next morning, being blinded by the sun. It finally had stopped raining but Kaito is nowhere to be found. Aira walks outside and looks for his dragon/father. "Kaito! Where are you?" Aira called. "Kaito! Don't leave me! Dad!"
Aira finally gives up. He goes back to the cave and grabs his things, heading out to search for Kaito in the real world.
