Ophelia, sitting in the front of the wagon, raised her head, she wanted to see the great yellow cement arches that formed the grand entrance to the city, the pastel grey streets, made of pentagonal cobblestones, the main street seemed to extend to infinity, as the street stretched out and became one with the horizon before Ophelia's eyes, The wooden and yellowish-brown houses stood out at first sight, in the ensemble that made the houses, the streets, the pavements with their white line of separation from the street, as well as the multiple flowerpots with plants, all green, without any other colour, Ophelia was surprised by the unusual panorama, grey, yellow, and green were the colours that predominated throughout the public areas that they travelled through on their way to the city's warehouse.
Ophelia looked at everything with strangeness, because it was her first time in a city, as important and as big as Gaíshan, although inside I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed, because, although beautiful and classy, the city seemed to lack something important, colour, Ophelia being a magician and dealing with all kinds of rocks, of different tones and shades, coupled with the fact that she lived in a village, she is very used to seeing colours and being surrounded by them. This caused the architecture of the city, however elegant and stylish it was, Ophelia felt as if she was in a city, incomplete, in the process of being abandoned.
- I guess... all cities are like that, I hadn't stopped to think about it, but it makes a lot of sense - said Ophelia with a monotonous voice.
- To tell you the truth, I hadn't stopped to think about it much either, for me the color of the cities is something so natural, but, with what you told me about magic and colors, it makes sense this monotony of color that we suffer in the cities.
- And why don't you paint more colors in the city? - Ophelia asked.
- I suppose that since you can use magic you hardly notice these problems, but the paint is something very valuable, because as you know, the paint has to be extracted from nature and requires a magical process, which makes it expensive and the average person can not afford it. So it is normal that in every city there are only two or three colors in total.
- And in public spaces there are no more colors or the Lords of the city do not invest more in them? - Ophelia said discouraged.
- Only in the main square of the town, where the announcements are usually made. - said the carrier. - It is full of colors and life in general. - I exclaimed.
- Well it is a little disappointing to look at, but the architecture is very nice - exclaimed Ophelia - since we entered the city, I have seen that people are mostly dressed in gray, does the lack of color also apply to clothing? - Ophelia asked.
If for the most part people only have one set of colored clothing, which they usually wear on special occasions, the few people you have seen along the way wearing colored clothing are mostly uniforms and are working.
- I'm confused, I don't know how to feel about it? I'm amazed at how big the city is, but I'm a little disappointed in the way it looks - said Ophelia as she looked at the top of the buildings.
The wheels of the wagon shook, the unevenness of some cobblestones, is barely perceptible, but at every turn taken on the grayish street, the mud stuck on the thick wooden wheels came off leaving in its wake a thin trail of moisture and grime, which was lost with the dust and grime of the other wagons.
The wheels turned right, then left, passed over bumps of gray cobblestones, squeaked at various times they had to stop their movement, picked up the road, turned right again, kept going, turned right again and once more turned left and kept going, before the wheels slowed for one last time for Ophelia, in the middle of a street at the order of a policeman.
- Please stop! -said the officer
who was coming out of a restaurant, and stopped in the middle of the alley through which Ophelia and the carrier intended to pass.
- Didn't they see the no trespassing sign? - said the officer in a loud voice.
- What sign? -Ophelia asked in surprise.
The officer took a step to his right and turned to look at the street entrance with a slight nod of his head.
- No way! - I exclaimed angrily, "I told the new man to put up the sign.
- Well, now you know that this street is off limits. -said the officer returning his gaze to Mr. and Ophelia.
- Could you tell us what happened in the restaurant? -asked the gentleman as he turned to look at the rest of what appeared to be a completely destroyed and burned restaurant.
- There was just a drunken and not-so-drunken fight that went very far.
Ophelia looked at the remains of the restaurant in wonder, as she found this situation very strange, until, from her seat, she managed to see through a hole in the wall a hanging torso of a pig or cow, she could not differentiate it well because it was burned to the point of looking like charcoal.
- Hey, did they serve meat in this restaurant? - said Ophelia a little excited.
- Yes, yesterday they had a big meat party that started in the afternoon, and in the evening the problems started - said the officer annoyed, because of what he was saying, it seemed that just remembering it made him furious.
- That's right! - said Ophelia in a low voice, but she couldn't help having a big smile on her face, due to her discovery.
The officer and the gentleman were looking at her with a curious look, because the gentleman didn't know why she was suddenly so happy and the officer began to suspect that she had something to do with the incident, because why would he be happy because a restaurant was burning, and Ophelia, feeling their looks, came back to herself and regained her composure.
- Sorry for the inconvenience officer," said Ophelia with a sweet voice and a big smile. -She turned to see the transporter who, upon understanding, with a movement of his whip made the horses retreat.
The officer was puzzled, but let it pass, and returned to his post while the wagon moved away from the place.
