Finally giving up on sleep, Aiden swung his legs out of bed, rubbing a hand over his face. He decided to head to her room, determined to have a quick talk and then return to bed. Better to have the discussion and then sleep.
He reached her door and knocked softly at first, then a little harder when there was no response. "Serena?" he called out, keeping his voice low to avoid alerting anyonr else.. Silence. Aiden frowned, knocking again, this time with more force. Still nothing.
His mind raced. Was she avoiding him? After this evening, coud it be that she did not know how to respond and had decided to lie low? Curling his lips, he shook his head and walked away.
Moments later, spare key in hand, he unlocked the door and stepped inside, knocking one last time before entering. However, the moment he stepped inside, he stilled, immediately sensing that something was off. For the room was empty.
