Chapter One: Introduction

Six months later,

''Greetings ma, we are very happy to see you'' Mr. Lugard said.

''Welcome madam, we are glad that you finally made it here'' Mrs. Esther spoke.

I acknowledged them, by nodding my head, while the security man opened the car for me. I came out, and found hundreds of workers patiently waiting and standing. It was the first time of me seeing and standing in my husband magnificent company. I couldn't have come over, if not for John's illness, that has kept him in a helpless state. Thus, he has no other option, than to delegate power for me to handle the administration of his company, until he comes. While I was thinking of John, I decided to greet one in one, those workers who assembled to welcome most especially the company's executives.

I shook hands with each of them, until I reached a certain level, and held my hand back.

Damn, I was surprise to see Kelvin also standing. The moment he saw me, he was full of shock and surprises. I was also shocked because he never expected me there. Yes, he was probably expecting another woman, but was hited by my presence.

Oh my god, my heart boiled the more after I saw him, and anger filled all over me. When I was still married to Kelvin, he didn't tell me he was working for ''Cherubim Limited'', He always told me that he was a general manager in a hotel in New York.

Now I know that he hates me. He hated me to the core to the extent that he never wanted me to even know where he was working.

''You are welcome ma'' He bowed his head and greeted in shame.

'' Thank you'' I responded.

''Thank you, everyone. I shall visit you all in due time'' I informed, and was taken to my expected office by Kelvin and other executives of the company.

I was wondering why in the first place, Kelvin was among those following me to my office, until I asked about the where about of the general manager.

''I am''

''You?'' I asked Kelvin, after he said he was in charge of all workers.

Finally, I accepted the fact that he is, but something has to be done about it.

I expelled everyone from my office, except my body guards, whom I needed to stay right behind me. My husband John, has instructed me to always work with the body guards he mandated for me, until he comes.

I sat in my office, and was full of happiness. I never knew that John had such kind of big company in the country.

Now, I see reasons why some group of secret dudes wanted him dead. He is a popular and an influential billionaire, whose wealth and influences has gotten to the eyes of many. However, I need to make changes before he comes. The doctor has previously informed me that he only have few weeks to recover from the food poisoning and before he comes, I must make some changes.

I called on my secretary Mrs. Newman, to immediately check Kelvins past record. My intentions, was to check whether he was actually qualified for such high position that was given to him.

She quickly suspended whatever she was doing, and attended to my demands. Three hours later, she came with a clean file, where she has documented her findings and reports. She handed it over to me, and I became engaged at the spot.

To my greatest surprise, I saw that Kelvin didn't worth the position given to him. How then, did he climbed to such extent? I asked myself.

From what I was seeing, he has no good record with the company. So, how come? Something must be wrong and fishy somewhere.

 However, he has been a dubious fellow since I knew him. My intuition was now suspecting him. Although, this is business, and I must be very careful not to let emotions rule over me.

My husband John, has been affected by negative forces around him, who has tried to eliminate him. I met him a frustrated and hopeless man, despite how wealthy he is. His Ex-wife betrayed him, by divorcing him on the ground that she was no longer enjoying her marriage and now, she is engaging in a legal case with him, over the splitting of his wealth. She is demanding that his wealth must be divided equally. John told me that a mysterious man is standing behind his ex-wife's back and till today, he has no knowledge of whom this dude is.

This was one of the things that contributed to his health challenges but since we met and had a one- night stand on the night I was divorced and chased by Kelvin, he has been depending and hoping on me to assist him in winning all his cases against his enemies.

I am not a lawyer, neither am I a security officer but the best and least I could do for him, I will.

After scanning through the document about Kelvin, I folded it and kept it in my handbag then, I went round all the departments of the company, to check and see what workers were busy doing. I was surprise to see that many workers and staffs were just jesting and gossiping. They seem to be playing with their jobs.

''But I thought managers and H.O.Ds are watching over them?'' I asked one of my body guards.

''I think they are not serious, and they are not been watched after'' Samuel one of my body guard spoke.

No wonder my husband was complaining to me that his company was about to fall, that the Morales of his workers were deflated and declined.

To me, it looks like they were doing eye-services because they all rushed to their various work, the moment they saw me. I just laughed because they don't know whom they are dealing with.

After the inspection, I called for the presence of Kelvin my ex-husband and manager of the company into my office.

The moment he came in, I gave him a letter in an envelope and when he opened it, he saw that it was a letter of demotion. His services as the manager of the company, was no longer needed.
