Chapter 218: Black Horn
In the strange valley, the fierce battle was still raging, but Nebular's confrontation was nearing its end. Propping himself up with his sword, he struggled to stand, shouting, "You will definitely be judged by the Master!" His words were distorted and almost incomprehensible.
Luo Ning carefully examined Nebular's broken leg. Surprisingly, there was no bleeding; it seemed the injury hindered his movement more than anything else.
"Who exactly is your master, Elliot?" Roning stepped closer, his Flowing Flame Sword ablaze. "Why have I never heard of this name?"
"Hahaha, you ignorant human, you haven't even heard of Lord Elliot's name!" Nebular's expression turned wildly fanatical, as if he were a devotee worshipping a deity. "She is the great messenger of God, the embodiment of holiness, the perfect queen!"
He glared at Luo Ning with madness in his eyes. "Just watch, even if I die today, you will not escape the master's judgment!"
Roning frowned at Nebular's fanaticism, questioning internally if only some churches in novels could breed such zealotry. To his knowledge, the world was mainly governed by lords, with no powerful church in sight. Whoever Elliot was, his ability to instill such fervor was troubling.
Given that these cave dwellers treated humans as food, Roning concluded that no matter who Elliot was, these followers could not be allowed to persist.
"Before your master passes judgment on me, please accept my judgment on you, Nebular!" Roning sprinted forward, slashing powerfully.
Nebular raised his sword to block, but the force of the blow staggered him back.
"It's over!" Roning quickly closed the distance, coming up behind Nebular and stabbing him in the heart. As his fighting spirit surged into Nebular, the silver knight howled in pain and then exploded into powder, just like the bronze knight Roning had previously defeated.
["King of Slaughter" achievement achieved, attribute points +300, energy essence +600]
Roning received a substantial boost from this achievement, designed for defeating a level 5 extraordinary unit.
He surveyed the battlefield: McKen had just dispatched the senior knight, freeing Kurami and Baburin. They immediately joined Horn, Jenny, and others in battling the patrol soldiers, confident of their imminent victory.
Meanwhile, the white-haired female knight Natalia faced a combined assault from Redal, Elrond, and Mikan. Elrond found an opportunity to use his Light Binding Technique to briefly hinder her movements, a critical advantage for Redal and McKen.
Despite the gold level's superiority over silver, it did not guarantee Natalia could withstand attacks from several skilled silver knights, especially not with Elrond's magical support. The deaths of her followers Utan and Nebular further destabilized her.
"Slash!" Redal's sword grazed Natalia's wrist, searing her skin with the spiritual fire. Natalia, disheveled and enraged, tried to retreat but found her path blocked by McKen.
"Damn it! You all deserve to die!" she screamed, her attacks becoming more frantic, yet increasingly desperate.
Puff! Hiss! Hiss— Natalia, overwhelmed and bleeding from multiple spiritual burns, seemed on the verge of collapse.
"She's about to fall," Roning murmured, stepping forward. If Redal and McKen hadn't been restraining their blows, Natalia would already be fatally wounded, the final strike reserved for Roning.
Gradually, Roning had developed a tendency to deliver these decisive blows himself.
Natalia, sensing Ronin's approach and recalling his previous victories, knew she was in dire straits. Surrounded, with even the magician Elrond thwarting her movements, escape seemed impossible.
"Master, now is a desperate moment!" she cried out, summoning a burst of energy to distance herself from Redar and McKen.
Ignoring the pain, she seized McKen's sword, letting it slice through her palm, and leaped towards the hillside.
"You forced me to do this!" She discarded her sword, pulling a black horn from her waist and blowing it with urgency.
A deep, resonant sound echoed through the valley, unsettling everyone present.
"Woo~" A responding roar came from the cave as the ground trembled under its influence.
Natalia sounded the horn again, this time with more desperation.
"Stop her!" Roning shouted as Rydar and McKen rushed to intercept, but a sudden eruption of fire from the cave cut them off from Natalia.
Through the billowing smoke and flames, Roning tried to discern what emerged from the cave. A huge, shadowy figure moved behind the curtain of fire and smoke.
Woo~ The low, ominous roar chilled the spine, hinting at a formidable presence.
As the battle paused, everyone turned towards the cave entrance, their anxiety palpable.
"In the name of the Seven, what is this?" Grado stumbled backward in shock, falling to the ground.
Kurami, Jenny, and the others trembled, their battle-hardened nerves shaken by the sight before them.
Roning shifted for a clearer view, his heart skipping a beat as the creature emerged into full view.
"This is…"
Before them stood a massive creature, nine meters long, its body clad in hard, ice-blue scales shimmering like steel under the firelight.
Its large wings, even folded, hinted at a staggering wingspan. Most unsettling were its ice-blue eyes, large as saucers, devoid of any discernible emotion, only instilling dread.
"Is this... a dragon?" Roning's voice was barely a whisper, awe mixed with fear as he faced the creature from legends.
