The unexpected invitation

(Amelia)

"Where are you taking me?" I asked Damien, who was now informing me that we were to spend the day together. I was confused as to why this person who had kidnapped me was partially nice to me all of a sudden.

 Not only that, but I did not forget about last night and the way he had spoken to me, but today was a welcome change.

"Anywhere you would like to go. I've been thinking about it and I can't come up with anything." He replied, making me frown.

"It's too hot to do anything, I can't think of anything right now." I know that I should jump at the opportunity to be able to leave the castle, but if it meant spending time with Damien, then I don't want to.

Shortly after that, I heard a voice in my head telling me to go. The voice sounded just like my mother, so I started to communicate with her after finding out that I could after reading the book.

'No, I don't think so.' I replied stubbornly.

'He's your linker, Amelia; you can't say no as yet. Get him to trust you enough so that Gael can find a breach and get you out of there.' I narrowed my eyes, wondering how she knew that he was my linker.

'Were you spying on me?' If that were the case, then I would not be happy. It would be embarrassing if anything.

'Just last night, funny how you cuddled up to your kidnapper…' Refusing to hear anything else, I blocked her.

"Fine, we can go. But I need to freshen up, and I'm hungry." I said to Damien while getting out of bed.

"That's a brilliant idea. We can have a picnic, I'll have my fairy Sage whip us up something." I agreed with him and left to go and get ready.

~~~~~~
"Stop, you're lying," Damien said, after calming down from laughing too much. I chuckled and shook my head.
"I'm being serious! Do you know how embarrassed I was? I told my best friend that I had a crush on the captain of the basketball team and one day at a game, she saw him and started waving her hand while shouting 'woo-hoo' over and over. When he finally glanced her way, she pointed at me, and I got up and ran." He laughed again when I said that.
It happened when I was in high school. My best friend at the time, Gia, and I would tell each other everything. So, I opened my big mouth and told her about my crush.
Needless to say, she tried everything in her power to get him to notice me and in some very awkward and embarrassing situations, too.
"Damn, that's funny." He said while drinking water.
"What about you? Any embarrassing thing happened to you?" I asked. That got him sobered up, and he glared at me. He's so bipolar.
"Even if there was, I'm not telling you shit." It seemed as if his personality was defensive, so I decided not to talk about it anymore and looked away. I was enjoying this BLT sandwich, and now, my appetite is gone, thanks to him.
"You can ask me anything else apart from that." He said, and that made me smile. At least I could still get to know him better.
"Ok, so the fairies here. Are they assigned to everyone individually?" I asked, and he nodded his head.
"Yeah, but it's a special kind of bond that allows the fairy to choose their owner, and then the king will assign them to you. It's not just happening at the castle, but all over the world as well." I looked at him with shock. How come I've never heard of this before?
"You'll get used to it soon." He said.
"How did you find this place?" I asked, looking around at the trees that were planted in circles. They all had smaller flowers that were planted in front of them, which had different colors.
I watched as the bees and butterflies flew around them, and birds were chirping in the distance. It's such a beautiful day, one that I will never forget.
"Just like the fairies on this land, we were each assigned a spot to call our own. We were sent out one day to choose that particular spot, and there was just something drawing me here." He stood up and made his way towards a tree while placing the palm of his hands on it and his ear as if listening for something.
"Come and check this out." I got up and made my way over to him. Once I was there, I placed my hand on the tree and did the same thing he was doing.
"I'm hearing a thumping sound as if it's a heartbeat," I replied, as my eyes became wide.
"That's because they are alive. One day, you will get to see them moving around. But on hot days like today, they become too lazy to move, and we had to find a way to water them." Well, that's a load of bull. I've seen countless things since coming here, but believing that trees can move was unheard of and a lie.
 I chuckled and nodded my head, entertaining him a little so that he didn't feel bad about me not believing him.
I was shocked once again by what he did next. He took my hand in his and kissed my knuckles.
 I pulled it away from him and started to blush. He's acting strange, I can't help but feel like something was going on. I mean, he hated me and my mother before. The way he treated me when I had just arrived here was still fresh on my mind.
No one can tell me that someone can change so quickly. I wasn't buying it, but I also can't stop myself from feeling drawn to him this way.
The more time I spent with him, the more I wanted to accept him as my linker, my other half. I just don't want to do it so soon and then end up getting hurt.
I have never been in a relationship before because I didn't like the drama that came with it, I have had men coming to my door wanting to court me, but I have turned down every one of them.
Now, here is Damien valquerez slowly breaking down the wall I have placed around my heart, without even trying hard.
Sighing, I went back to sitting do
wn, trying my best to take my eyes off him, but I was failing miserably.
