"I don't know, stay here, let me go and say hello," Daniel said. He moved Abigail from the window and to a couch in the living room.
The expression on Daniel's face was not a good one at all. "Dad?" Abigail called him, as he was about to leave.
"Yes princess," Daniel answered. He smiled as he turned to his daughter.
"You look worried, what is the problem? Do you know the man?" Abigail asked. She looked up to her father.
"No, no dear, there is nothing wrong, is it just that I am worried about the corn, I mean that the smoke of his car might not be good for the corn," Daniel said. He looked outside the window at the man standing outside looking at the house from the cornfield.
The huge man, standing behind the man wearing a suit, a black suit, to be precise, is obviously the bodyguard of the man.
"Sir, it seems that he has seen us," the bodyguard said. He looked at the house, monitoring the shadows of the occupants of the house.
"Yeah I know, that is the main point of standing here, no need to knock on the door, when you can send a message without you moving. Let him be fast, I don't have all day, it is about to fall, damn! I hate farms, we are far from civilization, just isolated, easy to invade, I hope there is a network around here, besides this place stinks," the man wearing the black suit said.
"This will be a good place to start your operations, Sir," the bodyguard said.
"Yes, indeed, it will be a good place, that land area, away from the eyes of the public, and taxes. All these will be mine if we can reach a fair arrangement, that is it," the man wearing the black suit said. He smiled.
"And what if we did not reach a fair arrangement? What next? Sir," the bodyguard asked. He was still monitoring the shadows and movement from the house, from where he stood.
"We will take it. Is that simple, or he might or must agree with me if he wants to keep harvesting corn," the man wearing the black suit said. He laughed.
"I like the sound of that, sir," the bodyguard said. He smiled.
"Dad, he looks gentle, I mean both of the men look gentle, is he a friend or a foe?" Abigail asked. She peeps out of the window again.
"Is not my friend nor foe, well. Not yet but, I just have to say hello to them, just be friendly, and everyone looks gentle in suits, no matter the color," Daniel said. He looked straight into his daughter's eyes. He pulls her away from the window to back to the couch.
"Even a bad person looks gentle in a suit?" little Abigail asked. She is always curious about everything happening around her.
"Yes, they do, now sit here, and don't come out, or near the window okay?" Daniel said.
Daniel stood up to leave.
"Is he a bad person?" Abigail asked.
"No, I. I don't know," Daniel replied. He was getting tired of her questions but he couldn't be harsh to her.
"So what is he?" Abigail asked.
"Visitor! Just a visitor," Daniel said. His voice startled her, he could see the shock she felt.
"Sorry Princess, I don't mean to yell at you, okay? Daddy has something important to handle, okay? And I would love it, if you just go to your room, and umm. Keep this drawing of our family safe, can you do that for Daddy?" Daniel asked. He held his daughter's hands as he spoke to her politely.
"Okay Daddy, sorry for bothering you, I am going to my room now," Abigail said. She took the drawing and she went straight to her room.
"That is my girl," Daniel said to himself, as he watched his daughter obey him.
"They have taken a long time to respond to our present Sir, are you sure they saw us, or they are ignoring us?" the bodyguard asked.
"They will not dear, ignore me, just give them five minutes to come out," the man wearing the black suit said.
"And what happens if after five minutes, till no sign of anyone, what next?" the bodyguard asked.
"Then you know what to do, pay a visit," the man wearing a black suit said.
The bodyguard nodded, and he started the countdown.
A few seconds later, the house door, which both men were looking at, opened, and a man came out of the house, which was Daniel.
Daniel was adjusting his white shirt he got on, he was checking if his jeans trousers, and boots he got on were clean enough because he noticed that those men were rich, or looked rich.
As Daniel approached them, he put on a weaved hat. The man wearing a suit smiled at him, and he whispered, to his bodyguard, "he is lucky,".
"Good day, gentleman," Daniel said. He greeted, and he took off his weaved hat, as a sign of respect.
"Well done, my good man, how is everything going around here?" the man wearing the black suit asked.
"Great, lovely sun, fresh air, good rainfall, good soil, and I can't complain. My name is Daniel by the way," Daniel said. He offered the man wearing a suit a handshake.
"Sorry, I don't shake hands, especially farmers but we all know why, germs and all that. But my name is Jake, by the way, for you, call me Mr. Jake or billionaire Jake, ready to do business with you," the man wearing a suit said, introducing himself as Jake, or billionaire Jake.
"Oh, I see, what are you doing on my farm then?" Daniel asked, he was hurt about the handshake stuff, but he still managed to smile,
"Just business my dear friend, I just want benefits from your fertile soil," billionaire Jake said. She smiled.
While his bodyguard was intimidating, Daniel with his presence.
"Oh, I see, if you want to buy this land, I am not selling it, it is all that I have left, okay? So I can't sell sorry, I wish it was something that I could help you with," Daniel said. He turned down the offer before it was made.
"I see, it is a good season, I can notice from your crops, and I know, you want the best for our land, I am not buying it, I just want it…., let us say. Resented it, for some time, don't worry, I will pay the rent, I will pay upfront also, I think a million dollars will do," Jake the billionaire said. He smiled and he spoke calmly.
"Million dollar?! Just for rent? Wait, what kind of business or activity do you want to use part of my land for, before you pay such rent, you must generate more than that a month or week, so what is the activity?" Daniel asked. He was surprised by the proposed amount, he started having double thoughts.
"That will be classified, I can double the rent but my activities will be none of your business, do you accept it?" billionaire Jake asked.
It was looking like a devil's deal, Daniel was not okay with it. "Sorry, I can not sell or rent, even though you double the rent, I don't want issues, please," Daniel said, and he turned them down again.
"I see, you must be a smart man, like that. How is your daughter?" Jake the billionaire asked, and he smiled.
"She is fine, how do you know I have a daughter?" Daniel asked.
