Chapter 13: Superpowers

"Ah?" Yang Jinghua was taken aback and then horrified, shaking her head repeatedly, "No, no, absolutely not."

"Your eyes tell me you're lying. Ancient people really aren't honest," Yang Huawei said as he grabbed Yang Jinghua and walked her back to the interrogation room.

"Ah... don't kill me, don't kill me, I don't know anything, I haven't seen anything." Yang Jinghua tightly closed her beautiful eyes and screamed frantically, tears streaming down her face. In her terror, Yang Jinghua unleashed all her potential. At this moment, even the strongest special forces soldier might not be able to hold her, but in Yang Huawei's hands, she was like a struggling kitten, having no effect at all.

"Who said I was going to kill you?" Yang Huawei frowned and pressed Yang Jinghua into a chair, gently pressing a few times on the back of her head with his fingers. As Yang Huawei's hand left Yang Jinghua's head, she quieted down but still stared at Yang Huawei with a terrified gaze.

"Hmm? How can she recover so quickly?" Yang Huawei was surprised. He didn't expect this calming method, which worked on future soldiers who had gone crazy in battle, to have only this little effect on Yang Jinghua. He reached out again.

"Ah." Yang Jinghua let out a scream and tried to dodge. Yang Huawei paused, realizing she was already conscious but still somewhat afraid of him.

"Let's talk. I don't want to scare you into madness," Yang Huawei said, sitting on the desk and crossing his legs. Yang Jinghua's eyes flashed with surprise. This sitting posture, with feet facing up, was something only someone with naturally flexible bones or specialized training could achieve. To see such a strong man also do this was unexpected.

"Well, who is the backup? The military? Impossible. I did some research before coming here. The military isn't that easy to mobilize; they only got involved when things got severe, but by then, it was too late to be useful. The armed police? Possible, but they wouldn't be much use. It should be the Special Task Force 13?" Yang Huawei counted on his fingers and looked at Yang Jinghua's expression, smiling.

"That's right, it should be them. Later, only these so-called superpowered people could make a difference, but their effect was minimal. Sigh, what a worry," Yang Huawei said, pulling at his hair, making it creak. Yang Jinghua winced, thinking Yang Huawei might tear off his own scalp.

"Forget it. Anyway, with the captain not here, I'll make the decisions myself. I've only read about their abilities in books before, so I don't know how they compare to our guys. It's just right to test them and see if they're worth cooperating with," Yang Huawei said, letting go of his hair.

"Um, are you really from the future?" Yang Jinghua, gradually calming down, asked curiously.

Yang Huawei smiled, showing his white teeth, and then raised his arms slightly. Although his police uniform was in the way, one could still feel the bulging muscles under it, almost stretching the black police uniform to its limit. To Yang Jinghua, Yang Huawei didn't look like a person but rather a bomb that could explode at any moment, and a particularly powerful one at that.

"How? Does it not look like it? Can you find a man like me in your time?" Yang Huawei said with a grin.

"This... this is a bit too... too..." Yang Jinghua struggled to find the right words. She had seen the popular Terminator movies but never thought she would encounter a real-life version one day.

"Too incredible, right?" Yang Huawei continued, "Don't just think it's incredible; I think so too. Sigh, I didn't expect the research institute's lunatics to really come up with something, but they lost the captain during the transmission. I wonder if he's alive or dead." Yang Huawei sighed deeply, rubbing his short, coarse hair. Yet, there wasn't much sadness in his expression. In Holy City, every day there were fallen comrades, and the squad members were constantly replaced. Especially in their special forces team, the death rate was high. They had no sadness towards death, only regret and remembrance. Every comrade who fought alongside them seemed to have their souls fused into their own, fighting with them as if they had never died.

"Oh? You're here quickly." Yang Huawei suddenly smiled and muttered.

"What?" Yang Jinghua was puzzled.

"Alright, you can leave. Be careful not to hurt yourself. Every life is extremely precious. By the way, take this fool with you. Although he's a bit foolish, he's still a life." Yang Huawei pointed to Uncle Hai, who lay motionless in the corner.

"Uncle Hai... he's not dead?" Yang Jinghua's face brightened.

"Not dead yet, just unconscious. But if you don't take him away, I can guarantee that he'll definitely die soon. I heard that people from Special Task Force 13 are quite something," Yang Huawei said with a smile.

"Yes, yes," Yang Jinghua nodded repeatedly. Right now, she couldn't care about Special Task Force 13 or 14. The priority was to get Uncle Hai out.

Yang Huawei remained seated on the desk, but he put down his crossed legs and looked around. Finally, a hissing sound came from above his head. With a pop, the fire sprinkler above was activated, spraying water. Oddly enough, the water didn't fall to the ground but gathered in front of Yang Huawei, forming a large water ball.

"Water manipulation ability? Sigh, so disappointing," Yang Huawei's eyes showed disappointment. Although such an ability was quite useful in the future, it was generally used for logistical support. A team with a soldier who could manipulate water didn't need to carry a water bottle, and washing or putting out a fire would be very convenient. However, the attack power of water was too weak.

"Hey, Special Task Force 13, can you send someone else?" Yang Huawei called out.

A cold snort was heard, and a water stream shot towards Yang Huawei from the outside. Yang Huawei just waved his hand, and with a pop, he knocked the water arrow back, causing a groan from outside. The water arrow must have injured its original owner.

"See?" Yang Huawei spread his hands.

"Then let's have a spar. Although I can see you're very strong, making a big commotion here isn't good," Wang Pengfei said.

"No problem, you choose the place." Yang Huawei said with some excitement. He was a born fighter and had lived in constant battle in Holy City. It felt like everything here was fragile, and everything had to be done carefully. But just one day had passed, and Yang Huawei felt a bit rusty.

"Let's go to the outskirts. Destroying a patch of vegetables is very different from destroying a part of the city," Wang Pengfei said, turning into a liquid-like substance and slipping out the window. Yang Huawei laughed heartily, directly crashing into the wall with a loud bang, creating a large hole, and then squeezed through, shaking off the dust as if he had just come out of a washing machine.

"Take my car," Wang Pengfei said, glancing at the young man who was still glaring at Yang Huawei.

"Sure," Yang Huawei said, walking towards the unknown brand of SUV. He stopped at the car door, turned to the young man, and said, "In this era, your superpower might make you think you're invincible, but no matter how strong you are, don't ever think you're the best. There's always something you haven't seen, and you might encounter it in the future. If you can muster the courage you have today, you might have a slim chance of survival. But I'd rather you handle logistics." Yang Huawei nodded and got into the car.
