Chapter 19: Fang Hongyan’s Heart

After finishing his meal and feeling satisfied, Yang Huawei pushed the empty plates aside, patted his belly, and lounged comfortably in his chair. In the future Saint City, such luxurious living would be hard to come by, especially for a warrior who lived on edge every day. There was always the chance that the beastmen would launch an assault with their magical beasts, and warriors had to be ready to fight at any moment, even if it meant interrupting intimate moments.

Outside, Fang Hongyan glanced at the blazing sun and snickered coldly. She turned and hurried out. When she returned, she had changed out of her sexy leather outfit and into a short skirt, a long-sleeved shirt, and a pair of shiny sandals. Her upper body was covered, but her long, slender, and fair legs were visible, causing many people to bump into walls as they stared at her while she ascended the stairs from the ground floor to the third floor.

Fang Hongyan took a deep breath outside the door, patted her face, and put on what she considered her most charming smile before walking in. Yang Huawei was half-reclining in his chair with his legs propped up on the table, eyes closed, enjoying his rare moments of relaxation.

"Brother Wei," Fang Hongyan's voice was as sweet as honey.

"What's up?" Yang Huawei didn't even open his eyes. Fang Hongyan's overly sweet tone had no effect on him; he preferred the serious and gentle voice of Liu Rumei.

Fang Hongyan clenched her fists secretly, took a deep breath to suppress her anger, and reached out her pale hand to grab Yang Huawei's arm. "Brother Wei, let's go for a walk. You can't always wear police uniforms. I'll buy you some clothes." She said, tugging at him. However, her strength was no match for him. Hearing this, Yang Huawei opened his eyes and looked at Fang Hongyan with curiosity. It seemed like there was something off since their first meeting; why was she suddenly so nice to him? Could she be grateful for his guidance?

"Alright, let's go then," Yang Huawei nodded. Since she came to thank him, he didn't want to refuse and possibly leave a negative impression.

As soon as Yang Huawei stood up, Fang Hongyan, although still smiling, was extremely pleased. "Just wait and see, even if you're strong, I'll wear you out on a shopping trip and turn you into a dead dog!"

"We're going," Fang Hongyan said, linking her arm with Yang Huawei's. Yang Huawei frowned slightly and looked at Fang Hongyan but didn't say anything as he followed her out.

"Hey, did I see that right? Fang Hongyan is actually… actually…" Xiao Guo, watching Fang Hongyan link arms with Yang Huawei and get into the Audi, was stunned and tugged his teammate, at a loss for words.

"Uh… I think I saw it wrong too," the teammate was equally stunned. Fang Hongyan was always known for her violence; it was unusual to see her so gentle.

Fang Hongyan was extremely smug in her heart. "Even if you're the strongest guy, I'll use my charm to wear you out. Just wait!" She stole a glance at Yang Huawei beside her, who remained expressionless and was alertly observing everything around him. There was none of the tenderness he showed towards the dirty researcher Liu Rumei. Fang Hongyan's fleeting sense of pride was ruthlessly crushed by Yang Huawei's expression. She couldn't understand why he preferred Liu Rumei's demeanor, a quality she felt she was far superior in appearance and temperament. If Yang Huawei preferred Liu Rumei, Fang Hongyan wondered if she was somehow lacking.

"Hmph, Yang, just wait. I'll make you fall for me and then ruthlessly dump you, haha!" Fang Hongyan imagined Yang Huawei begging her when she abandoned him. Although it was just a fantasy, it made her feel delighted. She laughed and started the modified Audi, which roared as it sped away from the police station.

Binhai City was an international metropolis, its level of prosperity ranking among the top globally. On the bustling pedestrian street, Fang Hongyan walked with Yang Huawei's arm in hers on the cobblestone path. Her beautiful looks and sexy figure were highly seductive, making the rate of men turning their heads reach 200 percent. As for Yang Huawei, although not handsome, his rugged face and strong physique emitted the aura of a real man, making other men, who were either overweight or indulged in vice, feel embarrassed and cover their faces with tears. Yang Huawei's masculinity had a devastating impact on women, with a head-turning rate exceeding 1800 percent.

"Sir, here's my phone number. Could I have yours?" A mature and sexy woman approached Yang Huawei, swaying her hips, and handed him a note, asking softly.

The strong scent of high-end perfume mixed with foundation made Yang Huawei snort, sounding like a powerful stallion. This near-impolite reaction only added to his wild appeal, making the woman almost faint with excitement.

"Hey, what are you doing? Can't you see I'm right here? How dare you try to steal someone else's man in front of me?" Fang Hongyan tried to pull Yang Huawei away, but her strength was no match for his. He remained unmoved. Reluctantly, Fang Hongyan had to step in front of Yang Huawei, separating him from the woman.

"Hmph, just you…" The woman looked down at Fang Hongyan with disdain. Compared to her, the woman was more mature and, although slightly less attractive, had a more voluptuous figure. This made Fang Hongyan unhappy. If they were on a mission, Fang Hongyan would definitely draw her gun and deal with her.

The two women started a verbal fight in the street, critiquing everything from each other's clothing to minute flaws in their faces, and even the asymmetry of their breasts. Women's verbal battles were often more thrilling than men's physical fights, attracting hundreds of onlookers who cheered for their chosen side.

After a while, Fang Hongyan grew bored of the commotion, feeling like a monkey under a microscope. She glanced back, and Yang Huawei was nowhere to be seen. Panicked, she hurriedly searched for him. The woman, engrossed in her confrontation, tried to grab Fang Hongyan but couldn't keep up. Fang Hongyan, a top operative known for her speed, easily escaped the woman's grasp.

Seeing her opponent disappear, the woman proudly lifted her head, but finding her target gone made her lose interest. She sighed and walked away.

"Hey, over here." Yang Huawei was standing at the entrance of an antique shop, waving at Fang Hongyan.

"What are you doing here? Looking to buy antiques? I can't afford it," Fang Hongyan said, glancing at the antique shop's classic decor.

"No, I want this." Yang Huawei pointed to a large, strange rock, about the size of a person and weighing at least four to five hundred pounds. It was covered in blue crystals and looked quite beautiful. The shop displayed it as decoration by the entrance.

"What do you want this for?" Fang Hongyan scrutinized the rock, which looked like just a pretty stone to her.

"Blue crystal, a rare metal on Earth, comparable to the blue gold extracted from mutated trees and magical beast bones. Since we don't have blue gold here, blue crystal will serve as a substitute," Yang Huawei explained. "Despite its size, the usable blue crystal in this rock is at most two kilograms."

"We came out to buy clothes, not stones," Fang Hongyan grumbled but still waved over a sales assistant from the shop.

"Sir, madam, what can I help you with? Our antique shop has items from the Western Han to the Qing Dynasty," the sales assistant smiled and began his pitch. This was a common practice in the antique business—talking up items while you think about what to show the buyer over the next few days.

"No need, how much for this stone?" Fang Hongyan waved her hand and pointed to the decorative stone.

"Ah? This… um…" The sales assistant hesitated, his eyes darting around. In the antique trade, such habits of exploiting customers were common.

"I warn you, don't try any tricks. Don't think I don't know this is just for decoration. If you try to sell it to me at an antique price, you might as well close your shop," Fang Hongyan glared at the sales assistant and briefly showed her credentials, which, although meant to be discreet, were clearly visible to Yang Huawei. Others might not have caught it.

"Uh… I need to ask the boss," the sales assistant said awkwardly, deciding it was better not to cause trouble, just in case.

In the end, the decorative stone was sold to Fang Hongyan at a significant markup, costing her over fifty thousand yuan. Fang Hongyan wasn't bothered and stopped the sales assistant from calling a car, crossing her arms and staring at Yang Huawei.

"So, did you buy it?" Yang Huawei asked.

"Paid by card, fifty thousand yuan," Fang Hongyan rolled her eyes and replied.

"Really troublesome, having to spend money. In Saint City, I could just take it," Yang Huawei said as he effortlessly lifted the stone with one hand, looking relaxed as he faced Fang Hongyan.

Fang Hongyan was taken aback but quickly steeled herself. She thought, "I was worried you wouldn't get tired, but if you insist on carrying this stone, let's see how you handle it. I'm determined to teach this annoying

 guy a lesson."

"Let's go, we still need to buy clothes," Fang Hongyan said, pulling Yang Huawei and leaving the store, leaving the astonished sales assistant behind.
