New Horizon High School was one of the more prestigious highschools located in the city of Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria.
Or you could say it was a somewhat higher class Academy seeing as how the school was filled mostly with students from rich homes whose parents could afford to pay the expensive tuition fees.
It wasn't as expensive as the football Academy the twins were attending until last month, so their father didn't have any problem taking care of the tuition fees.
Moving on, the school had quite a lot going on for it to make sure the message of it being a tier above the others was conveyed properly. On the physical level, at least.
It had a massive compound with the football pitch by the right side stretching up to ninety meters.
Up ahead, away from that was where the buildings were located, every one of them were surrounded with beautiful flowers which stretched out along the paths the students used for moving around, outlining the shape of the whole area beautifully.
The environment was beautiful and refreshing, but Evan didn't really seem to be paying much attention to that as he had his gaze fixated on the pitch while dragging his box alongside his brother.
"I was expecting their pitch to be okay, but I didn't expect it to look good." He remarked, an elated smile on his face.
"So, you didn't believe my words?" Eric responded.
"You just said it was decent, I couldn't clearly make out anything from that."
"Yeah, right." Eric muttered before turning away from him, increasing his pace to get a little ahead of his brother.
Seeing that, Evan had to increase his pace to catch up to him.
The two continued further down the path until they got to the reception area.
A small open area with a roof to keep out the sun and rain. There were about five students in there with two teachers sitting in front of them, and looking at all of them, the twins came to realize how out of place they looked.
While they were in casual wear the students were in uniform, the boys were wearing red checker shirts with dark brown trousers, and for the only girl in there, she was wearing a red checker dress.
"We don't have our uniform yet." Evan muttered as they made their way to the area.
He made eye contact with the woman sitting in there and for that split moment, he felt some sort of chill run down his spine.
"Hey, you two."
That voice came from behind, and in quick response, the twins turned around to find a young man who seemed to be in his early twenties looming over them.
He had a much fairer skin compared to the two so he couldn't exactly be called dark skinned, and he had a tablet held close to his chest with his left hand.
"You must be the Onyeka twins, correct?" The man inquired.
"Yes." Eric responded with a nod.
There was no immediate response from the man as he stared at both of them quite intriguingly with his right hand on his chin.
"Hmm, I see." He nodded before walking past the twins to enter the reception area, leaving them perplexed.
"What's his deal?" Evan leaned closer to his brother to whisper.
"Go ask him if you want to know." Eric retorted.
_______ _______
Checkout for the twins didn't take too long for the twins, and once they were done with that, they were asked to head up to their class.
The academic block was located just opposite the reception area so it was just a straight walk for the twins who were making their way there at the moment.
The academic block was almost the largest building in the school, a three-storey building with classrooms spread out across all the floors.
One thing the twins noticed when they walked in through the gate was how quiet the whole area was, however, the closer they got to the building, the more that idea dissipated in their minds.
There was a lot of rowdiness going on, and anyone would think it was a collective effort from different classes, but that didn't seem to be the case.
All the noise was coming from just one class, the one at the very top.
"Hmm, she said our class was the one on the highest floor, right?" Evan asked as he slowly looked up.
"Mhm." Eric nodded.
There were a few students taking a peek at them from the classes on the lowest floor through the window, but they chose to ignore that.
They had to climb the long stairs to get to the highest floor, and the closer they got, the louder the noise got. They didn't need anyone to tell them that the class was to the left after getting up to the fourth floor.
It was all inaudible to them when they were far away, but now that they were up there, they could make out some of what was being said.
It was quite appalling to find out that a teacher was in the class with that much rowdiness going on in there.
Sure, she was writing on the board currently but it was still like she wasn't even there.
The entrance to the classroom was on the other end away from the staircase, but the windows stretched to the door started from close to the staircase, so the twins already had countless eyes on them before they got to the door, they would have probably gotten less attention if they were in their uniform.
Anyway, they avoided the numerous gaze from their soon-to-be classmates as they made their way into the classroom, trying their best not to appear awkward.
The noise in the room got a sudden boost as soon as they walked in through the door as they were more whispering among the students with some of them not even bothering to keep their voice down.
It seemed like the noise going that high was the limit for the teacher as she pressed down hard on the marker before she could finish the word she was writing.
"Will you all shut your trap!" She screamed as she turned to the class, her eyebrows furrowed and her lips tightly folded.
Most of the students stopped speaking after that, but they were still those who just couldn't help themselves, and looking at all of them, the teacher just couldn't help but shake her head after letting out a sigh.
She scanned the classroom for a few seconds before her gaze fell on someone sitting in front, a girl who didn't seem to be bothered enough by anything going on in the class to be awake through all of it.
She had her face down on her desk and looking at her, the teacher couldn't help but sink her teeth into her lower lip, a furious expression on her face.
"Shameless set of students." She scoffed before smacking the notebook she was holding on her head.
That seemed to have worked, as she moved her head soon afterward before slowly raising her head, a seemingly annoyed expression on her face.
"Ole ihe ọwu? (What is it)" She grumbled.
"Don't ask me that stupid question and stay awake when I'm teaching." The teacher retorted before smacking her on the head once again.
"Hey." She scowled, grabbing hold of her head with both hands.
Most of the students burst into laughter at that sight as the teacher turned to the twins after letting out a huff.
"And who are you two supposed to be?" She asked, glaring at the two.
"Why is she glaring at us?" Evan whispered to her brother.
"Keep quiet." Eric responded before turning to the teacher. "Um….we're new here and were told that we're supposed to be in this class."
"Oh, then that must be your seats over there at the back." The teacher remarked, pointing at the seats on the farthest back of the first and second row.
"Oh."
"Now go take your seats and try not to contribute in disturbing my class." She said before turning back to the board to continue what she was writing.
"I guess we should go then." Evan shrugged before taking the first step ahead of his brother.
The two were barely close to getting to their seats when something suddenly came flying their way at full speed.
Someone had launched a tennis ball at them, and it would have smashed right into Evan's face if Eric had not reacted in time to catch it.
Evan was left a bit disoriented and flabbergasted as to what just happened while Eric looked around the possible areas where the ball could have come from but everyone was acting like they didn't see anything happen.
"The hell kind of class is this?"
