Chapter 10

"That was fast." Jaden noted when he saw Elijah coming out of the house in like thirty minutes after going inside.

"I finished my food first." He said and walked past Jaden to the car and entered inside.

Jaden joined him inside the vehicle and started the engine. "I guess you ate perfectly then." They both knew they weren't talking about the food.

To Jaden, Elijah was like a young boy who needed all the love he could get. Elijah was the closest to his mother, and her death at his young age was traumatic. It traumatized the young man and left him with nothing but a dark soul. He could only help by being by his side and supporting him.

To Elijah, Jaden was a friend. Someone he could call a friend. The older man understood him like the cover of a book and he hated it, at the same time, he was grateful, even though he never and would never voice it out. The older man was hired by his father, but he took up the position to guard Elijah and did so perfectly. He helped Elijah do dirty works like wiping away his father's spy on him. Elijah knew his father knew he had caused the demise of his men but didn't have any evidence nor balls to tell it out to him.

Elijah leaned his elbow beside the window in the car as he looked at the street lights. His mind took him back to the young girl he stayed with, earlier that day. She was lovely and he knew she wasn't for his dark soul. If he wanted her, he was damn sure as hell going to get her. The way she laughed, widened her eyes and spoke, it all entranced him in ways it shouldn't and he accepted it all with open arms. He knew somewhere deep down, something was starting to grow for the girl and he did little to nothing to stop it.

"Where were you, though. It wasn't noisy so I guess it wasn't the bar." Jaden asked as he steered and turned.

"The hospital." Elijah responded, still looking out of the window.

"Ah. Was it Tate?" Because it was only Tate, Jaden knew as Elijah's friend. Elijah hardly kept friends.

"No. It was a girl." As though his words were a bump, Jaden hardly pressed the break and Elijah turned to glare at him. "Do you want to kill me too, Jade?" He harshly bit out and realised they stopped at the red light.

"Sorry Master." Jaden sighed out. "It was just too surprising." And asif a light bulb lit in his head, he turned to Elijah who was facing his side of the window. "Is it that sick girl with pink hair from the school?"

"Mm." Elijah heard Jaden's "wow" then his scoff. "I'm going on a date with her on Sunday. Clear anything that might stop me that day." He glanced at his bodyguard who had his mouth open wide and he turned back to his side of the window. Pink hair... He noted.

"Woah... I guess going to your mother's school that day did a lot of changes to you." His lips curled up.

Elijah smiled at Jaden's words.

...

Cassandra packed her hair in a bun as she stared at her phone with toothbrush inside her mouth. "Why hasn't he texted or called?" She scrunched her brows up in a frown. Her words came out muffled because of the brush and the paste foam that slipped her mouth. She kept her phone and finished brushing her teeth. Coming out of the bathroom, she slumped on her bed as she remembered how her day went. "Elijah..." She moaned and buried her face inside her pillow as her face turned red.

She recalled how he brushed her hand with his thumb. What his smile did to her body and how that deep voice made her shiver, "Gosh... What is wrong with me...? Where's the no-falling-for-men Cassandra?" She sighed as she turned and looked up at the ceiling with the pillow stop her chest. Sunday felt too far. She wondered what she was going to wear for the date and she made a mental note to tell her aunt the next day. Cassandra thought about Elijah until she slept off and met him in dreamland.

Cassandra groaned and got off the bed. She looked at her bedside clock and it was still six in the morning, her classes started by eight. The previous day, after she left the hospital, she went straight home as she felt tired and couldn't go back to school though classes still went on.

Cassandra did the necessaries and left her room in a different blue and black uniform. She climbed downstairs and saw the dining was already prepared. "Morning, aunt Jess." She greeted the older lady who was already seated. Cassandra took her own sit.

"Morning, sweetie." Aunt Jess smiled at her niece who started eating her yogurt-cooked meal. "How are you this morning?" Cassandra had told aunt Jess about what had happened the previous day as she had come home earlier than usual and her aunt was worried.

"I'm feeling alright, auntie, thank you." Cassandra ate quickly and finished but didn't leave the dining yet. "I finally got the hostel, aunt Jess." She said with a smile and heard her aunt gasp.

"Really?! Does your job pay you that high?" Jess remembered Cassandra had started just a few days ago.

Cassandra shook her head, "It's not the job. It's my friend, he paid the hostel fee for me. I'm also going on a date with him on Sunday."

"Wow." Aunt Jess patted Cassandra's head with a smile. "When are you going to bring him so I can meet him?" Cassandra laughed at the lady's words.

"Soon auntie. Have a nice day." She kiss

ed her aunt on the forehead and left the house
