The officer's voice echoed in the small detention cell. "Fiona Martinez, someone's here to bail you out."
Fiona stood up and winked at Allie. "Don't worry, I'll figure out a way to help you," she said softly before following the officer out.
Allie sat alone on the hard plank bed, her heart filled with unease. She didn't know how long she'd be staying here or what awaited her. Just as her mind was wandering, the detention cell door opened again.
"Allie Raine, you can go too. Someone has paid your bail," the officer said.
Allie stood up in surprise, unable to believe her ears. Who would come to bail her out? She had no relatives or friends in this city.
With a nervous heart, Allie followed the officer to the police station lobby. The spacious area had several people waiting, mostly relatives of offenders. Allie looked around, trying to find her benefactor.
Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure. Ryan stood in a corner of the lobby, wearing a long black coat, his tall frame shrouded in shadows, looking particularly imposing. Beside him, Fiona was excitedly jumping up and down, her red hair flying in the air like a dancing flame.
"Allie! Over here!" Fiona called out, waving her hand as soon as she saw her.
Allie walked over, her mind full of questions. "Mr. Waters? Fiona? You know each other?"
Ryan nodded slightly, "Fiona asked me to bail you out."
Fiona exclaimed in surprise, "You two know each other?"
Allie nodded, "Yes."
She looked at Ryan, feeling a bit embarrassed that he had helped her again. "Mr. Waters, I'm sorry for causing you trouble again..."
"Your level of trouble-making is on par with Fiona's." He smiled, then turned to give Fiona a cold stare.
"Oh, Ryan, don't look at me like that, it's scary!" Fiona dramatically hid behind Allie.
Allie looked at Ryan and Fiona in surprise. She suddenly realized that there seemed to be some connection between these two.
Seemingly sensing Allie's confusion, Fiona said with a smile, "Oh, I forgot to introduce. Allie, Ryan is my cousin." Her voice was full of pride, as if showing off some precious treasure.
Allie's eyes widened, looking at Ryan in disbelief. So, this mysterious man was actually Fiona's cousin!
"He's amazing, a top scientist from Mercury with multiple patented technologies, and he's also Mars'..." Fiona's voice trailed off as she spoke.
Ryan's gaze seemed to grow colder, clearly disliking others discussing him in his presence.
"Oh, don't be so serious, Cousin Ryan," Fiona giggled. "Allie's our friend now, right?"
Allie felt a bit at a loss but nodded anyway.
Ryan glanced at Allie, a hint of complex emotion in his eyes. "We should go, Fiona. Uncle is on his way home."
"No, who told him?" Fiona exclaimed, the smile instantly vanishing from her face. She turned and ran towards the door, her red hair flying behind her. A red spacecraft hovered outside the police station, and Fiona hurriedly walked towards it, her steps hasty and uneven.
"Oh, right," Fiona suddenly turned back, a smile reappearing on her face. "Allie, don't forget what I said. Make sure to come to my school, okay? I'll be waiting. Here's my contact information, remember to get in touch!" She took out a chip from the spacecraft and handed it to Allie, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Allie took the chip and nodded. "Okay, Fiona. I definitely will."
After Fiona left, Ryan looked at Allie.
"Come on, I'll take you home."
Allie followed Ryan to a waiting black car. The interior was spacious and comfortable, with Allie and Ryan sitting in the back.
Ryan had taken off his coat and was wearing only a white, exquisite shirt made of soft and expensive-looking fabric. Today, the badge was not visible. He seemed very busy, constantly looking at data on a holographic computer, his long fingers moving quickly over the virtual keyboard. Occasional work calls came in, his voice low as he seemed to be making decisions. His brow was slightly furrowed, his gaze focused and profound.
Allie secretly observed Ryan, feeling a mix of awe and curiosity. She had never imagined that this man was a scientist from Mercury. Mercury and Mars were different; Mercury was a planet based on technology, where scientists were the most respected and revered group. Top scientists could easily influence a country's politics, often holding very important resources and power.
Thinking of this, Allie suddenly felt that she might be wasting his time. She was a nobody from the lowest stratum of Mars; how could she keep troubling someone like him? Her body unconsciously shrunk, trying to make herself smaller.
Then there was Fiona, whose smile was as warm as the sun, but she too was from Mars' upper aristocracy. They were simply not from the same world...
Allie tried to sit as unobtrusively as possible next to him, not wanting to disturb this distinguished figure. She stared out the window, lost in thought. The scenery outside flew by - skyscrapers, bustling streets, green trees - everything seemed so distant and unfamiliar.
The car moved swiftly, swaying gently, and Allie gradually became drowsy, falling asleep. Her head tilted slightly to one side, her silver hair falling over her shoulder, her breathing becoming even and peaceful.
"Allie, we're here." After an unknown amount of time, Ryan's deep voice sounded near her ear.
Allie opened her eyes to see a handsome face and a pair of long, deep, stunningly blue eyes looking at her. Allie was startled and immediately woke up. She sat up straight, a blush of embarrassment appearing on her face.
"I'm sorry, I fell asleep. Are we already here?"
"Mm-hmm."
"Then I'll get out. Thank you very much for today, Mr. Waters." Allie quickly unbuckled her seatbelt and prepared to open the car door, her movements a bit flustered.
"Allie," Ryan called her name.
"Yes?"
"How do you feel about using the bracelet?" Ryan looked at the silver band on Allie's wrist.
Allie instinctively covered the bracelet. "I haven't really used it much yet, so I don't have much of a feeling about it." Her voice was a bit hesitant, unsure how to describe the strange sensation.
"Is that so?" Ryan's gaze rested lightly on Allie. "If you feel any discomfort, contact me. Here's my contact information." He also handed Allie a chip.
Allie took the chip and put it in her pocket.
"Alright, I understand. Bye, Mr. Waters."
"Bye, Allie."
