Chapter one
Gwen staired at her mother with her eyes full of tears . Juliet staired at her daughter and forced a smile.
"It's alright darling mummy will come visit you soon"Juliet glanced at her friend Isabella."Take care of her for me"
"I will Juliet, I promise"Isabella took Gwen's hand "come on let's go "
"I love you mom "
"I love you too darling"Juliet wiped her tears with her hand as Isabella and Juliet walked to the car.
Juliet's husband Thomas had filed for a divorce a month ago. He decided he wanted to end his relationship with Juliet after he began having an affair with his secretary.
After he divorced Juliet he insisted on not giving Juliet any of his property and refused to take custody of Gwen.
Juliet didn't have enough money to take care of Gwen so she asked her best friend Isabella to help. her out.
Isabella and Juliet had been friends since college. Isabella's husband was late and she had two children ,a daughter Carly and a son Ryan .
It was a long drive to Isabella's place, the entire journey Gwen couldn't stop thinking about her mom .
When they got to Isabella's house it was night time and Isabella's children were asleep in their rooms. Isabella asked one of her maids to help Gwen carry her things to a room very close to Carly's.
Gwen hadn't spoke to Isabella since she left her mom's and Isabella was worried. She asked Gwen what she would like to eat since she hadn't had any thing through out the entire journey.
"Thank you am not hungry"Gwen said and Isabella put a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't do this to yourself sweet heart you need to eat something"Isabella took a deep breath "Follow me to the kitchen I'll make you a sandwich"
"Ma'am I...."
"No no you can call me mum,okay"Isabella smiled sweetly at Gwen.
"Okay "Gwen smiled.
Gwen didn't sleep the whole night and the next morning at 7:00am Isabella sent a maid to wake her ..up. Gwen heard a knock on the door and she opened it to see who it was.
"Mrs Isabella requests your presence downstairs
right now " the maid said
"I'll be down in a minute " Gwen replied and closed the door.
"Hurry!" the maid yelled "your breakfast will get cold"
Gwen dried her hair with a towel and horried downstairs to the dining room .
"Good.....morning Ma'am...mum" Gwen stuttered
"Morning Gwen, I hope you slept well?"Isabella asked as Gwen came close.
"Hey" a beautiful brunette with brown eyes waved at her from the other end of the table.
"Good...morning.....miss"Gwen waved back
"My name is Carly nice to meet you "Carly smiled at Gwen .
"Good morning Carly "Gwen smiled back
"Carly"
"Mum"
"Where's your brother?"Isabella asked
"In his room he'll be down soon "Carly replied
"Take a seat Gwen "Isabella said
"Okay ma..mum "Gwen drew a seat and sat down.
The three ate in silent and after awhile a talk guy with black hair and slightly tanned skin horried down the stairs "Good morning mum"he kissed Isabella's forehead.
"Morning Ryan "
"Who is this?"Ryan asked noticing Gwen's presence .
"This is Gwen she will be staying with us for a while"
"Why?"Ryan asked
"Shut up and take your seat "Isabella glared at him."Gwen this is Ryan,my son Carly's junior brother don't feel intimidated by his height his only sixteen "
"Mum Ryan's on his phone "Carly yelled
"No phones on the table hand it over "Isabella stretched out her hands and he gave her his phone.
"Snitch"He hissed at Carly
"Shut up and eat your food Ryan"Isabella snapped at Ryan.
After breakfast Isabella asked Carly to show Gwen a round the house. They stopped by the gazebo to rest and Carly began to ask Gwen questions.
"What's your mum like?"
"My mum?"Gwen asked and Carly nodded "Uh
.... she's sweet "
"What about your dad?"Carly asked
"Sometimes he's nice and other times he's just being a jerk "Gwen signed
"Do you hate him?"
"No, he's my dad "Gwen staired at Carly"why the questions ?"
"Nothing just curious that's all"there was a moment of silence and Carly got up."Mum said you'll transfer to our school on Monday so be ready"
"Okay "
"Come on let's go the tour isn't over yet "Carly said .
