Chapter 8

 In the middle of the night, I woke up to see Cephas reading from the book. I slowly sat up and looked at him, "Hey… what are you doing..?". Cephas straightened his posture and flipped his head in my direction, giving a startled. "Oh H-Hey Aden, why are you awake, is everything ok?", Cephas looked at me, placing the book on his side. "Yeah, I'm fine, I just miss my friends..", Aden said while adjusting his posture. "What are your friends like?", Cephas said while lying down on his side, still keeping his attention on Aden. "Well…", I said while lying on my back, viewing the vibrant stars above me. "My friends were Katie and Tyler, Katie was the calmer and logical one, she could always be reliable for support, while Tyler was the dramatically funny type who could always light up the room.", I smile while reminiscing at the memories, Cephas was looking at me with curiosity. "There was this one time on my 14th birthday when we went to a laser tag arena, me and Tyler were on the same team and Katie was on the other. We could not find Katie anywhere in the room but we could hear her talking shit to us. Later we found out she broke the rules and climbed onto the 14-foot pillar, Tyler was so mad, I was just laughing the entire time.", I said with a slight chuckle in my breath. "How did she get up there??", Cephas said. "We had no idea, Katie doesn't even remember how", I said while laughing, and Cephas joined in on the laughter, keeping in mind of the sleeping Brier and Daiki. "Yeah.. they are great..", I said with a slight sigh, "What about your friends? What are they like?", I asked Cephas. "Oh, my friends mainly involve Brier and Daiki, Brier is lovely and caring, and Daiki is a powerful figure to be around, he makes us all feel safe.", Cephas said while looking at the sleeping Brier and Daiki. "If you haven't noticed, I mainly keep to myself..", Cephas said while letting out a nervous chuckle. "Yeah.. I'm kind of the same. I tend to be pretty withdrawn.", I said with a sigh. "Can I ask why?", Cephas said while sitting up. "I don't really want to talk about it…", I said while turning my back towards Cephas. "Well.. Uhh- Goodnight then-", Cephas said as he laid back down and went back to bed. On the other hand, Aden layed awake, haunted by the answer to that question.
