Chapter 46

Hearing Rita's words, Harper's body froze. “Mom…what did you say?”

A while ago, Harper had asked her mother about her origins. Rita had told her that she was an orphan and her biological parents were unknown.

Whatever her mother was trying to say, Harper didn't want to hear it. She just wanted to live a peaceful life.

“Mom, I already said that I'm not interested in my real identity. Having you as my mother is enough for me. I just want you to be happy.” Rita opened her mouth to reply, but Harper interjected, saying, “I'm content with my life, Mom. I'm happy.”

Rita laughed bitterly. “I'm sorry, I don't know who your real parents are. The orphanage didn't have any information, but I kept your baby blanket. I thought maybe it was a clue to finding your family. If you want, you can….”

“No!” Harper's body trembled, anxiety rising in her throat. She didn't want to know. She didn't want to hear anything about her real lineage.
