Chapter 21 - Dungeon Diving Gamer style

Garrett hit the curb running at the first Beginner dungeon. Based on his scan of the 60 dungeons he was planning on hitting this week he had a full plate for this first day.

25 Beginner

20 Medium

10 Hard

5 Nightmare

And he was not looking forward to soloing any of the Hard and higher levels. The bonus points being doubled is a nice incentive to challenge them though.

Garrett rushes through the 25 beginner dungeons each one awarding him around 2,600 points on average. The bonus 4k points from selling the damaged or unusable items in each dungeon really helped boost his stockpile further. In just over 5 hours of work in hunting down beginner dungeons and using the selling option he managed to amass 165k points. He was so jealous of the general having this option already. But he wasn't jealous of the fact that the general literally gave up his own humanity just to unlock all of the functions.

Garrett huffed a bit he was exhausted from having dive into so many dungeons back to back like that, even though he was able to one shot all the regular zombies, he didn't get any bonus stats from mutants since Beginner dungeons still didn't have any. He suited up and got ready to challenge the Medium dungeons.

These he had a blast with. He managed to charge in and had his pistol blasting like crazy with his broadsword either beheading or bisecting a zombie with every swing. It's a basic combination for weapons and attacks, but no one can argue about how effective they are when you don't need to worry about a swords durability or a guns ammo. The sword just needs basic sharpening since it still dulls without any cracks or bending. The gun when the energy clip is exhausted just needs a few seconds to recharge. Thankfully this pistol seems to use solar energy to recharge. So it takes about 30 seconds to recharge after every empty clip.

It wasn't bad, it was pretty damn effective.

But the Mediums were great to boost himself further. With the 20 mediums, they took him another 10 hours. Mostly from how many floors were in each one. Average amount was 3 floors. Some were 2 or 4. But the fact remained that they averaged out at 13k per dungeon, and another 11k for selling the damaged goods inside. So he made off with a cool 480,000 points!

He took a small nap in the SWAT van in a secluded spot where the zombies would have a hard time finding him. He was feeling much more energetic after a solid 1 hour nap. He was shocked how good his body had become now that he was super human. Naps left him feeling energized as if he took a 3 hour mini sleep from his military days. And 5 hours sleeps were his new 8-9 hours sleep cycle. He was wondering how his body would behave once he evolves again.

Garrett eyed his growing point pool as he prepared to tackle the next dungeon and was barely keeping himself from spending it all on new gear, stat gems, or even the summons tab. He had to check to see if he could handle a Hard level dungeon.

He gazed up at the movie theater, it could hold hundreds of people on an average day. Now in a zombie apocalypse? It was basically a huge zombie nest.

Checking his stats Garrett averaged out his own versus what he could expect from the variants and Mutants inside. After all in a Hard mode dungeon the mutants would be around 180 in their key stat while the rest are 60s. But a variant has 120 in all three physical stats. It will be easier to handle, but also harder for the sake of how balanced it is. Much like Garrets build. He got boosted from the medium dungeons Mutants, but it was strange how each dungeon had three of each type of mutant. He wasn't going to complain, but it was strange how he found no larger amounts of mutants in the mediums and now boss trios like the first one. He also failed to find a single Variant boss in any of them. Garrett shudders at the thought that the Variant boss is in the Hard dungeons.

If that is the case it would receive a boss bonus. This was explained by the system when he asked the difference in the new survival week for the difference between single bosses versus boss groups. According to the system.

A Boss group is a trio of bosses that simply have more intelligence to allow them to work effectively together. If the boss is alone they receive a boss bonus for this week and further weeks. The single boss receives a second multiplier from the dungeon they guard. For example a Variant would be 60 in all physical stats outside, but in a hard dungeon, it is 120 in all physical, as a solo boss? It shoots up by another double to 240. This is to make sure the challenge is appropriate for the first two official weeks outside of the tutorial. Happy hunting!

Garrett didn't feel like thanking it for the information. But he was grateful that the system liked him enough to share all of this information! If it didn't Garrett was sure it would have left him to flounder and try to survive without knowing what he was getting into.

He looks at his current stats with a grin and a confidence that even if he fights a solo Variant he has a good chance of beating it.

With those points he could summon a few OCs to help. but he wanted to do a mass summoning. Or heck finally afford Bulma to help with the medical room he has in their base alongside the botanical and weapons research he could add on! He brains would help out immensely for their survival. Garrett puts a determined frown on his face as he adjusts his armor and weapons to make sure he is indeed ready for the upcoming demanding duty of taking on a full movie theater of hard level zombies. After all he may finally have broken through the 500s physically, his mental stats were half. he decided to hold onto even just a few thousand points here to ensure he could afford those expansions and Bulma.

He was not going to risk how far he had reached now! He would make it to the millions in saved up points! He owed it to everyone who has died so far! He would make sure as many people as possible lived through this nightmare!

He kicks down the doors with a mighty crash in his rage and with a blue glow showing in his eyes as his feelings of protecting his camp and his friends flowed through his body. His body was also glowing faintly blue along the veins in his arms and legs. He let loose a roar of challenge as the zombies revealed themselves. 500 regular zombies come charging out of the theater rooms all of them reaching and biting for him. With their stats now in the 60s they were a legit threat.

If Garrett was his old self from before he grinded 20 medium dungeons. He races to the side while unleashing pistol shots with deadly accuracy, popping heads left and right with every clip. He leaps over the concession stand and lands behind it while continuing to unleash every clip he can with his doom pistol. It hisses empty for a third time before the remaining 425 zombies reach him. And they begin to try and flood over the counter. Which Garrett grins as he runs along the entire length back and forth. Using his sword like a large weed wacker and is beheading countless zombies with this strategy.

He eventually misses a few thanks to the piling up bodies under his feet tripping him up and ruining his momentum. With the zombies now rushing him behind the counter he breaks into the kitchen with a recharged pistol and sheathes his sword for his dragon quest knife for the closer and tighter quarters.

Garrett spent the next hour in the kitchen fighting and beating back the remaining 200 zombies.

He lost count how many times his pistol recharged, but he knew it was a lot from the amount of bodies piling up in the kitchen.

By the time he made it back out to the lobby he was down to 80 enemies left. This time he holstered his pistol and sheathed his knife. And brought out his sword, he was ready to go Conan the barbarian on them all!

With a roaring charge he bashes right into the middle of them with great huge swings that were blurs of motion to any normal persons perspective. The zombies weren't fairing much better. They were basically ingredients placed before a blender blade. He wasn't leaving any of them in one piece.

After the final zombie fell to pieces Garrett finally allows himself a breath of peace and to get his heart rate back under control.

He looks around and checks for any other surprises. This horde was a shocker, but at least they were simple zombies. But now Garrett was worried as no mutants showed up. And this was a Hard dungeon. If past experiences meant anything to him. That meant trouble. He began to check every theater room as he heads further into the theater.

As he did so he missed a creak above him, believing it was his own foot. As he missed the 7 shadows that climbed over him and eyed him like a piece of juicy steak.
