Girls woke up from their movie night adventure, feeling a bit groggy from the late night and the sugar crash. As they get ready for the day, they discuss their plans for the day.
Ayame: yaaaawn I don't think I've slept so soundly in days.
Amy: Yeah, me neither. That sugar crash hit like a truck.
Ayame: stretches But it was worth it. Those movies were awesome.
Amy: Yeah, and the snacks were killer. I think we need to take it easy on junk food for a while though.
Ayame: chuckles Yeah, probably a good idea. Speaking of which, we still have a job interview to get to today, right?
Amy: groans Yeah, totally forgot about that. But honestly, I'm not really in the mood to dress up and act all professional today. Can't we just bail and stay in our sweatpants instead?
Ayame: Laughs Trust me, I want to be comfortable as much as you do, but we can't just flake on this job interview. We need to at least give it a shot.
Amy: sighs I know, I know. You're right. It's just that job interviews are so stressful. I hate having to sell myself and act all confident and stuff.
Ayame: smiles Hey, it's okay to be nervous. I get it. But remember, you're amazing and you've got this. We'll just go, be ourselves, and see how it goes. Worst case scenario, it turns into a funny story to share later.
Ayame: I'm going to quickly freshen up and take a shower. Be right back.
With that, Ayame collected her shower caddy and towels and headed off to the bathroom for her morning shower.
Amy watched Ayame disappearing into the bathroom, feeling envious of her friend's ability to bounce back so quickly after a sleepless night. As the sound of the water running in the shower filled the air, she decided it was her turn to freshen up as well.
Amy: yawns I might as well take a quick shower too. I feel like I still have popcorn butter in my hair.
She grabbed her own shower supplies and made her way into the bathroom, hoping a hot shower would help her shake off the lingering effects of the previous night movie and snack fest.
After a few minutes, the sound of two showers running could be heard. Steam slowly filled the bathroom as both Ayame and Amy went about their morning routines.
Finally, after what seemed like a blissfully long time, the sound of the showers stopped and both girls wrapped themselves in towels, feeling clean and refreshed.
They dried off in the foggy bathroom, stealing shy glances at each other but trying to make it seem like casual observation. Both of them couldn't help but feel a little self conscious in just their towels, even though they'd seen each other in various states of undress before.
Once they were both mostly dried and dressed in their loungewear, they stepped out of the bathroom and met boba pooping on the couch.
Amy: sighs Seriously, Boba? Can't you do that in your litterbox?
Ayame laughed, shaking her head. "I think he does it on purpose just to annoy us."
Amy rolled her eyes, but couldn't help smiling. "Yeah, he's such a troublemaker." With that, she bent down and scooped up the mischievous cat, giving him a small scolding. "Hey, mister, no pooping on the couch. Bad Boba."
After a quick breakfast and a final once over of their appearance, Ayame and Amy decided they were as ready as they were going to be for the job interview. They grabbed their purses and headed out the door, their moods a mix of nervous excitement and lingering exhaustion.
As Ayame and Amy were about to leave, the front door suddenly opens and in walks Amy older brother Yako, looking pretty disheveled and clearly tipsy.
Amy's eyes widened in surprise. "Yako? What the hell are you doing here? And are you drunk?"
Yako stumbled into the room, a lopsided smile on his face. "Ah, hey sis. Just thought I'd drop to our home it's late already isn't it?." He leaned against the wall for support, looking like he was about to topple over.
Amy pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling a headache coming on. "Yeah, it's late. And you're not fooling anyone. You're clearly drunk. What the hell is wrong with you?"
Yako smile turned into a frown as his words slurred. "Yeah, Emma, my girlfriend, she cheated on me. Can you believe that? I thought she loved me."
Ayame and Amy stood there, watching as Yako drunkenly stumbled to the couch and passed out. They exchanged a look of disbelief and resignation.
Amy sighed, shaking her head. "Typical Yako. Drinking away his sorrows and making a scene."
Ayame nodded. "Seems like he's really going through it this time. But we can't just leave him like this."
Amy looked at Yako, still passed out on the couch. "You're right. But we also can't just cancel our interview. We need those part-time jobs."
Ayame considered the situation for a moment. "Let's cover him with a blanket for now. We can deal with him later when we get back."
Amy nodded, agreeing. "Good idea. Hopefully he'll sleep it off while we're gone." They each grabbed a blanket and draped it over Yako sleeping form, making sure he was comfortable.
With one last glance at Yako, the girls headed out the door, their minds now divided between the upcoming job interview and their brother's latest predicament.
Ayame and Amy walked briskly towards the nearest bus stop, their nervous energy only slightly diminished by the unexpected appearance of Yako.
As they waited for the bus, Amy tried to focus on the task at hand. "Okay, so remember, we're going to the Cat Rose Cafe for the job interview. We need to act professional and confident no mentioning of our movie night or my drunk brother."
Ayame nodded, straightening her appearance slightly. "Right, right. We're just two responsible, competent individuals looking for a part-time job. No mentions of our wild night or family drama. Got it."
The bus pulled up to the stop, and the girls climbed aboard, finding seats near the back. The bus ride was a bit bumpy, causing their stomachs to flip with a mix of nerves and the aftermath of last night's snacks.
As the bus made its way through the city streets, the girls sat in silence, their minds racing with thoughts. Ayame fidgeted with the hem of her shirt, while Amy took deep breaths to calm her nerves.
After what felt like an eternity, the bus announced the stop near the Blue Rose Cafe. Ayame and Amy got off, taking in a deep breath before steeling their nerves and making their way towards their destination.
The cafe was just a few blocks away, its quaint facade exuding an inviting and peaceful atmosphere. Even from a distance, the smell of fresh coffee and pastries wafted through the air, making their stomachs grumble slightly.
As they approached the entrance, Ayame paused, turning to Amy. "Okay, last chance to bail. If you're not up for this, just say the word and we'll run away screaming."
Amy let out a dry chuckle, shaking her head. "As tempting as that sounds, we've come this far. We can't back out now. It's just a job interview, not a death sentence."
With that, Ayame and Amy walked through the door of the Cat Rose Cafe, leaving behind their nerves and anxieties for the moment. The chime of a small bell above the door announced their entry, and they looked around, taking in the charming ambiance of the cafe.
