A student hesitated. "But could one not use that power for—"  

“Silence!” The priest’s eyes burned with fervor. “There is no redemption for a summoner. And now, they speak of the worst of them all—a Summoner of Shadows. A heretic who will plunge the world into eternal darkness. He is the epitome of evil, and when he rises, he will destroy us all.”

The coin felt warm to the touch as it rested in Cedric's hand. The system bombarded him with notifications the moment he touched the coin. It seemed that the system understood the significance of this offer.

"I am not only inviting you to the temple, but you will be my disciple," Alexander explained, but Cedric was silent. The middle-aged man studied his expression, but Cedric had none. He smiled as he placed the coin back on the table.

"That offer is tempting and honorable, but I must refuse," Cedric said with a smile. "I will find a way out of this problem on my own."
