Looking at the angry Carl lying on the bed in front of her, tears burst from Lucia's eyes. She yelled, "Lord Carl!" and was about to rush over when Garling grabbed her and looked at Darian, asking coldly,
"Darian, what are you doing? Didn't you say you were treating Carl? What illness has not been cured for so long? And you made Carl look like this!"
Darian placed a tube of green injection on Carl's bed and responded calmly,
"Why are you here if you don't practice hard? Carl is very ill. How can it be so easy to cure? It hurts me to see him like this every day. He is my biological son!"
Darian deliberately emphasized the last few words, clearly intending to tell Garling not to meddle in other people's business.
Carl struggled to speak on the bed, but Darian held his mouth and whispered,
"Poor child, you'd better stop talking and take a good rest."
Garling's eyes flashed. He didn't know whether what Darian said was true or false, so he could only stand there silently.
Seeing that Garling had calmed down, Darian's lips curved into a hidden smile. Just as he was about to ask Garling to leave, Lucia, who was pulled back by Garling, suddenly shouted,
"He's lying! I heard it all yesterday, what experiments these people are doing on Carl!"
Darian frowned, held the crescent-shaped pendant on his chest, and pulled out a mini sword.
He slashed the sword through the air, and a burst of sword energy shot towards Lucia.
"Courting death!"
Uh-huh!
At this critical moment, Garling also drew his sword and blocked the flying sword energy.
But because he acted in a hurry, the aftermath of the sword energy still affected Lucia, leaving a thin line of blood under her left eye.
Lucia was unaware of the bright red blood flowing from the wound. She tightly grabbed the hem of Garling's clothes and begged,
"Please take Lord Carl away! He will die if this continues!"
Garling was upset by Lucia's shouting. He threw her aside, but before he could speak, Carl on the bed suddenly opened his eyes when he saw the injured Lucia. A violent electric current burst from his body as he shouted angrily,
"Lucia!"
Darian quickly stopped what he was doing. He stared blankly at his palm, which was slightly blackened by the electricity, and suddenly fell into a state of madness.
"Hahaha, it worked! I succeeded!"
Garling was shocked by the scene before him. He stared at Darian and demanded,
"What the hell is going on? Did you really experiment on Carl?! You better tell me clearly!"
Darian stopped laughing, tilted his head, and looked at Garling, saying,
"Garling, are you, my younger brother, ordering me? You are not the head of the family yet!"
Garling pointed his sword at Darian and responded stiffly,
"So what? Have you forgotten that as the leader of the Knights of God, I have the power to judge the Celestial Dragons? Now, I want you to tell me exactly what you did."
Darian was stunned for a moment, then he covered his face and laughed.
"Hahahaha! Yes, the leader of the Knights of God is so majestic!"
Smiling, the expression on Darian's face became more ferocious. He suddenly looked into Garling's eyes and said through gritted teeth,
"That position should be mine. Stop showing off to me. Don't you want to know what I did? Okay! I'll tell you!"
He lowered his head and looked at Carl, who was already stunned, and said in a sinister voice, "I admit that even if I practice more, it is difficult to surpass you in strength. But I have a good son—his talent is stronger than yours. You say, how can I waste such a body?"
As he spoke, Darian gently touched Carl's forehead with his hand.
His hand was not cold, but Carl shuddered. "Carl's body is like a piece of unpolished jade, which needs to be carefully developed. For this, I have put in a lot of effort."
He walked to a table, grabbed a report from it, and threw it at Garling, saying, "Take a look, this is a genius design!"
Garling took the report and only read two pages.
A chill ran through his heart.
He threw the report to the ground and glared at Darian, shouting, "You are crazy! Carl is just a child—how can he bear this kind of experiment?!"
Darian snorted coldly and said, "My child is none of your concern. If you have nothing to do, don't disturb my research here."
Garling had no intention of leaving.
He approached Darian with his sword and said, word by word, "Leave Carl to me. You are not worthy of being a father."
Facing the angry Garling, Darian looked surprisingly calm.
He folded his arms and said frivolously, "Oh? I almost forgot, you're going to be a father soon, right?"
Click! The floor cracked under Garling's step.
He stopped suddenly and looked at Darian in disbelief, saying,
"You, how did you..."
"How do I know? Haha, my good brother, you only know how to practice all day long. How many things in the family do you know? What little thing can be hidden from my eyes?"
Garling's face twisted with anger, and he stood there with his sword.
Darian sneered a few times and continued, "I advise you not to meddle in other people's business. Otherwise, if that matter spreads out, I'm afraid you won't be able to be a father anymore!"
"You!"
Garling's lips trembled with rage.
At this moment, he really wanted to cut Darian down with his sword, but Darian's words had struck a nerve.
Darian slowly walked to Garling, patted his shoulder, and whispered,
"Don't be so nervous. We can not interfere with each other, and besides, my experiment is of great benefit to Carl. How can I joke with my son's life?"
Garling tightly gripped the hilt of his sword, gritting his teeth, and asked,
"How long will your damn experiment take?"
"Soon. Didn't you see the current burst out of Carl just now? This shows that the direction of my experiment is correct. As long as you give me some time, I can create the most perfect body in the world for him!"
At this point, Darian silently added in his heart, "It's also for myself."
Garling closed his eyes, slowly exhaled a breath of turbid air, then turned around and pulled Lucia away from the room.
After leaving the lab, Lucia was still crying and begging Garling to save Carl.
Garling turned his head away and said coldly, "Don't cry. You are very loyal to your master, which is very good. I will arrange for you to join the guard team. Practice hard there. When Carl comes back, you can be his personal guard!"
