Heinz left swiftly.
He left within ten minutes of arriving at the house.
Alice closed the door. When she turned over, she found Jensen was staring at her.
His eyes were bottomless.
Alice took a deep breath and felt a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry. I should have told you before I called Heinz. I called him because I wanted him to arrange someone to protect my sister and Little Gary. I don't want them to get hurt."
"It's okay," Jensen shook his head and continued, "It's good that you're thoughtful and I don't blame you. I blame myself for not protecting you."
Alice could hear the disappointment in Jensen's voice.
Alice walked over to him with her head hung low. She lowered her eyes and whispered, "You seem very disappointed."
Jensen reached out to hold her hands. He sighed, "I'm not disappointed in you. I'm disappointed in myself."
It frustrated him that he could not even protect his own woman.
"Isn't it the same?" Alice muttered.
