Chapter 25: Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire

Flanders and Liu Erlong left. As they departed, Li Luochen sighed in relief, realizing that politeness could indeed be quite useful. The more polite you were, the less likely you were to be blamed.

"Alright, kid, let's head in. Take this pill; it'll make you immune to the poisonous miasma."

Dugu Bo opened a small bottle and poured out a pill.

Li Luochen swallowed it and followed Dugu Bo inside. He knew he was about to witness the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire.

After entering, they came to a valley. Dugu Bo held Dugu Yan with one hand and reached out to grab Li Luochen with the other, but missed.

Li Luochen spread his external soul bone dragon wings and used the dragon wing skill to fly.

"External soul bone? You have such a thing? It's a pity it's completely fused."

And so, all three of them descended.

Below was a hot spring. The area of the hot spring was not large, but it was divided into two parts. The hot spring water in the oval pool was milky white on one side and scarlet on the other. What was even more peculiar was that although they shared the same pool, the two sides remained distinctly separated, never mingling, always confined to their respective halves.

The rising steam originated from the area between the two hot springs, slowly dissipating as it reached the mountain pass.

Li Luochen was utterly shocked by the scene before him. It was different from what he had seen in anime and novels; the real Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire were incredibly awe-inspiring.

"Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire! The real deal. Senior Dugu, it looks like there's hope for you."

Li Luochen composed himself and addressed Dugu Bo.

"Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire? What's that?"

Dugu Bo was puzzled. He had possessed this precious land for over a decade but never knew what it was called.

"One of the three great treasure troves in the world, the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire, is the richest place for natural treasures. You can see that there are many heaven-defying immortal herbs here."

Li Luochen explained excitedly. This was one of Tang San's secret advantages, the foundation for the Seven Monsters to become gods.

"So, there are herbs here that can cure me and my granddaughter?"

Dugu Bo finally understood, and Dugu Yan's eyes filled with hope.

"But I only know a few types. I can suppress the poison, but I need to think carefully about how to proceed."

Li Luochen regained his composure. He wasn't familiar with all the immortal herbs, only recognizing a few: the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass, the Fiery Apricot, the Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, and the Fragrant Qi Luo Immortal Herb.

These were the only ones he knew. He neither recognized the other magical herbs nor knew how to consume them.

Dugu Bo led Li Luochen and Dugu Yan to a thatched cottage he had built, far from the ice and fire springs, to avoid any adverse effects.

"Senior, I have thought of a method. See if you can try it. There are two herbs near the spring: the Fiery Apricot and the Star Anise Ice Grass. They are immortal herbs for fire poison and cold poison.

If you consume these two together and then jump into the spring, you'll become immune to all poisons. But I don't recommend you do it."

"Why not?"

"Because poison is your strength, Senior. All your power comes from poison. Your poison is a deterrent, which is why no one dares to provoke you. You can defeat them so thoroughly that only Titled Douluo would remain standing."

Li Luochen's words brought a smile to Dugu Bo's face. Indeed, all of his strength came from poison. He couldn't defeat most Titled Douluo of the same level, but he could weaken them until only Titled Douluo were left.

"Continue."

Dugu Bo gestured for Li Luochen to go on.

"The idea is for me to consume these two magical herbs and use my blood as a medium. Senior Dugu should have pills that can suppress the toxins, and fusing them with my blood is just one step.

Second, the poison is due to the nature of your beast spirit. The poison is self-generated. Venomous snakes aren't afraid of poison because they have a poison sac; you need something similar to a poison sac."

When Li Luochen mentioned this, Dugu Bo, a seasoned expert, immediately understood.

"A soul bone?"

"Yes, a soul bone. Preferably a ten-thousand-year soul bone. I suggest using an arm bone because it can contain the poison. Unless you have a hundred-thousand-year soul bone, or an external soul bone that can evolve, the arm bones are safer. The skull and torso bones are too crucial for protection. If the poison in the soul bone gets out of control, you could die."

Li Luochen's words made Dugu Bo's eyes light up, but they quickly dimmed again. He had a soul bone, the rarest type—a Medusa skull, about 50,000 years old, obtained when he acquired his eighth soul ring. It was a top-grade soul bone, but he couldn't use it.

"Senior, let's start by consuming the immortal herbs to suppress the poison in your body. Otherwise, it will be difficult to hunt for soul bones."

Li Luochen's suggestion made Dugu Bo resolve himself. At least now there was a possibility of dealing with the toxin. It was just two soul bones; he could still obtain them.

"Senior, the Octagonal Mysterious Ice Grass must be harvested with an iron knife, and the Fiery Apricot must be harvested with jade. Both must be consumed within ten seconds of being picked."

Li Luochen instructed Dugu Bo on the proper methods for harvesting and consuming the herbs. With Dugu Bo's speed, completing the task within ten seconds was achievable.

Li Luochen removed his storage soul guide and shirt, preparing his pants, which he would need after the ice and fire tempering process was complete.

In an instant, Dugu Bo picked the two immortal herbs and sent them to Li Luochen using his soul power. Without hesitation, Li Luochen swallowed them both.

Just a few seconds after consuming the herbs, Li Luochen's body was covered in a layer of ice-blue, followed by red. Amidst these two extreme auras, Li Luochen could only retain part of his consciousness as he allowed himself to fall into the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire to temper his body.

Dugu Yan looked at Li Luochen, feeling touched. Not long ago, they were enemies, yet now he was truly saving their family's benefactor, willing to risk his life to help them.

At this moment, Li Luochen, immersed in the spring water, felt both cold and hot sensations.

Although it was incredibly painful to temper his body in the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire, the benefits to his body would be immense if he could endure it. After enduring, his body would become as invulnerable to water, fire, and poison as the Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire.

Li Luochen speculated that while the ice and fire tempered his body, they could also evolve his martial soul. The Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire were where the Water and Fire Dragon Kings had fallen, and the dragon energy around was very strong. The natural treasures here more or less had some dragon attributes.

This couldn't be better for his dragon-patterned stick. Li Luochen felt that his martial soul would evolve into a top-level martial soul, comparable to the Seven Kill Sword and Clear Sky Hammer.

They remained in the water like this for half a day, with no sign of movement from Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan on the shore. The wait was excruciating for them, as this was their family's only hope for detoxification.

Not long after, something strange began to happen in the spring water. Dugu Yan and Dugu Bo leaned in to get a closer look.
