Morgan's POV
A Saturday. Finally.
If only I could scream and mean that. But no! I had work as usual, and I had to finish up more and more work that had been piling on my desk, day in day out. I couldn't complain because, hell! That was the Rosewood oil mill.
I got down from the bed yawning, washed up and went to have breakfast. I knew I had to get to work early, to at least get a lot done before lunch, but unluckily for me, I woke up just a little bit late, even when I knew that investors were all lined up, wanting to invest in different segments of the enterprise.
Some wanted to invest in the food segment, others shoes, clothing, jewelery, but the biggest we had been expecting, was our potential investor of the year that wanted to invest in our jewelry segment. My favourite!
"You overslept." Miranda said as soon as I got to the dinning room.
"What am amazing good morning Miranda. Where have your manners gone?" I was surprised that that would be the first thing my four year old daughter would say to me first thing in the morning.
Was I too harsh on her this early in the morning? I turned to apologize, only to notice the atmosphere that engulfed the dinning table where two of them sat with servants, butlers and bodyguards standing at strategic places in the dinning room.
"What's going on?" I asked walking towards them.
"Nothing." Miranda said. "Just that I'm sorry for saying what I just said. I'm just nervous."
"About what hon?" I walked to the seat at her right and sat down.
"You never really gave us an answer when we told you about Finn and Pedro's birthday." Cole said.
"She said we could go." Miranda corrected, elbowing him.
"Yeah, but she...I mean you, never said anything about it again." He said looking at me.
I had no idea of whatever it was they were talking about. Who was Finn? Who was Pedro? Was I missing something, or did I forget something?
"Mummy?" Cole called looking at me with his bright green eyes.
"Yeah, I'm here." I sad adjusting myself in the seat which was beginning to hurt my butt. I had to get to work. Time was ticking away, and I knew it.
"Mummy?"
"Yes snowball?"
"Today is Saturday. You said we could go to Finn and Pedro's birthday party."
"Did I? When?"
"About two three weeks ago?" Cole asked rather than said, looking at me with a shocked expression.
"Okay I'm lost." I said getting up from the seat. "Who is Finn and who is Pedro?" I asked with a lost look on my face.
"Finn, Pedro, our friends you met when you came to take us home from school?" Cole said.
"The ones you met talking to us?" Miranda added.
"Oh my God!" That was when it clicked, when I remembered. The children Cole and Miranda had been speaking with when I came to pick them after my operation dodge Winston at the mall. "Finn and Pedro, the twins." I said with an awkward laughter.
"Did you forget?" Cole asked in his sweetest, coolest voice.
"Well..." I started, taking a seat back. "It's been a whole lot of stress for me this week. From one document to another, one investment to another, and you never mentioned what Saturday it was, and since that week's Saturday had gone by, I thought you both had changed your mind." Then I realized that I was ranting. "I'm sorry that I forgot." I said bowing my head to the ground.
"But you said the doctor told you to rest." He asked again in that same tone.
Did he happen to hear only about the stress part, or was he intentionally not talking about the other parts of my rant?
"I've been resting." I lied. "But I can't just neglect work, can I?"
"No you can't." Miranda said shaking her head.
"But I sure can let you go for the party, except I won't be the one taking you." I said then turned to Mr Vontrap who happened to be in the room the whole time. "Do you mind?" I asked him, fully aware that he had heard the entire conversation.
"Not the least bit." He replied with a bow and a little smile.
"Thank you." I said turning to my babies, the smiles on their faces so warm and... beautiful. I kissed them both on the forehead, took four slices of toasted bread, a cup of tea and went back to my room to get dressed.
It had been a week and four days since my dad had gone to Paris with the Lovesons. Only the universe knew what they were doing there. I looked at my wardrobe and decided to go with a simple white straight cut office tailored knee length gown that would highlight my slim curves just a little bit, a pair of white heels, dangling diamond earrings, a diamond 'butterfly imbedded in the sun' necklace, a diamond bracelet and a red bag to go with it. I let my waist length blond hair flow, and took one satisfying look at myself in the mirror, staring into my bright green eyes.
I looked smashing, I looked like a queen, like a goddess! That was enough! I needed to get to work. My dad was to come back today.
"These are files on the potential top-notch jewelry investor."
"Thank you Nora." I smiled, taking a look at the fed in front of me. Something was off. "No name? No identity?"
"Um.. we know for sure that it's a man. Kind of like our guess."
"Our?" I asked raising a brow. "You must have been talking about this mystery person...man, with your colleagues." I said with a smirk.
She laughed awkwardly, shifting from foot to foot. "But there is nothing else we... I have on him." She finalized.
"Oh." I said with a nod.
"May I leave now?"
"Sure," I said with a sly smile on my face. "You can."
It want up to thirty minutes she had left my office that she came running back into my office.
"He's here miss Rosewood." She said with a smile on her face, then when she realized that she was smiling, she went back to her secretary poise. She cleared her throat. "I mean the potential investor is here."
"Oh. I'll be out in a minute." I said getting up from my seat. Maybe the universe just knew that that potential investor would show up today. Maybe, that was why I decided to dress as stunningly as this. Perfect!
I straightened my gown and made sure everything in me was perfect, before I headed out of the office.
