Chapter 57

Le Xaan asked about his injuries.

"Nothing serious. Just some blood of stasis."

Youny Geey replied plainly and then added,

"Young Lady Le Cinci is plagued by ghostly Qi. To survive till now, she's lucky enough ."

"I..."

Le Xaan opened his mouth but felt lost for words.

He suddenly found himself in a precarious dilemma.

As he carried Le Cinci out of the tunnel just now, he suddenly sensed that he currently seemed to be a wealthy scion as a minor character in a horror story who fell prey to ghosts or monsters.

The current situation in Gourian City was that a pack of Ghost Spirits was probably still hidden.

The Le family would be accidentally involved once again at any time.

As an ordinary person, he could only rely on his martial arts proficiency and the cheat tool.

And he really fell short of the means to tackle these horrifying entities.

To deal with a single Ghost Spirit already nearly stretched beyond his ability. If he engaged in a battle with two or more of them at once, he would be in grave trouble.

Realizing this, the sorrow on Le Xaan's face gradually turned into grimness.

"My sister's miseries are all caused by Ghost Spirits. Revered Youny, is there any method that could allow us ordinary people to handle Ghost Spirits?

Or, is there somebody or some organizations from who we can seek help?"

He was now probing Youny Geey mainly about the means but also about whether there were some particular people who could provide protection.

"Well... as far as I know, ordinary people definitely couldn't stand up to the ghostly entities." Youny Geey cast a sympathetic glance at Le Cinci and pondered for a while before continuing,

"As for thy people, you can ask for help... well, we spirit exorcists could be counted in. But we're always wandering without a fixed abode.

I suggest that you put up a notice to enlist us. If your luck is not bad, some of us will come to your and your family's aid just like I do now."

After hearing this, Le Xaan considered for moments before asking,

"Reverend Youny, do you have a plan to recruit a disciple?"

Le Xaan was not in the mindset to become a disciple of Youny Geey himself but felt inclined to have some children of the Le family become his apprentices. This would grant the family more power to protect themselves in such a time of turmoil, and they could also forge a closer bond with Youny Geey.

As the conversation drifted to this topic, Youny Geey displayed an awkward expression.

"To tell the truth, spirit exorcists rely on what they are inherently endowed with, not what they train in after birth. The cultivation methods we're practicing are of little use to you ordinary folks. If any, it's even possibly harmful to you.

That's why I have yet to find a second disciple till now. What a shame... "

"Inherently endowed?" Le Xaan did not conceal the disappointment on his face.

"Yes. Actually, my blood deserves most of the credit for my ability to exorcise spirits."

"Through a concoction with other ingredients, my blood would pose great threats to spirits. And it's the only thing I know could counteract spirits. Most of spirits exorcists, as far as I know, take advantage of their own blood to do their jobs."

"Is there any other means?" Le Xaan asked with a sigh.

Upon hearing this question, Youny Geey glanced at Le Cinci in Le Xaan's arms, a touch of sorrow flashing across his face.

"Well... I'm uncertain about that.

However, since there are such a huge number of ordinary people in this world with such an extended history, I believe there are certainly some forces that were protecting ordinary people secretly against spirits.

We spirit exorcists are just a branch of them. Young Master Xaan, if you're really so curious, you can gather more intelligence on your own accord. Perhaps you can have some new discoveries."

Le Xaan nodded at these words before saying,

"Alas... that's the only way I can make it. By the way, Reverend Youny, may I purchase some spirits-countering items from you? "

Youny Geey shook his head.

"I'm sorry but I have to turn you down. It's not that I'm unwilling to sell it to you. My blood would only be useful when it is utilized by myself. Other people can't make use of it. Otherwise, why would I ask Ronri to stand by and watch instead of giving me a helping hand? "

Le Xaan believed that Youny Geey was not lying to him. If his blood could be used by someone else, Youny Geey would definitely keep this a secret instead of telling it to a stranger like Le Xaan. On the other hand, supposing Le Xaan developed ill intentions in his heart after knowing of this, what could Youny Geey do to escape the fate as a blood slave in captivity?

Letting out another sigh, Le Xaan hugged Le Cinci tighter in his arms. Their group walked out of the temple and soon found their way to their horses.

"Reverend Youny, how about going back to the city along with us?"

"No, I can't. I have to survey the surrounding area some more. Perhaps I will discover some traces of the Ghost Spirit as the origin of the other ones in Gourian City. I must find it as soon as possible. Its strength will grow exponentially with the passage of time."

Youny Geey said as he declined Le Xaan.

"So that's how it is. Okay. Reverend, if you have any needs, pleas feel free to tell me. Our Le family will leave no stones unturned in meeting your needs. By the way, you all three now can receive the bounty anytime at our Mansion."

Le Xaan then pulled on the reins with one hand and made the horse turn before leaving for the city, trailed by his guards.

"Oh, there's another thing. Young Master Xaan, you've killed a Ghost Spirit, which makes you tainted with its air. If another Ghost Spirit is near enough to you, it may sense it and take a revenge on you. Even a Major Ghost Spirit may attack you. From now on, you couldn't be more careful. If something like that really takes place, inform me as soon as possible."

Youny Geey immediately shouted from behind Le Xaan.
