A soldier, Lieutenant Jin Shu, and his platoon are tasked with rescuing survivors from a ruined city. Disaster strikes when the platoon is assaulted from all sides. Lieutenant Jin Shu is struck by a monster's claw, causing his weapon to backfire, injuring him with the bullet that was meant to be his hope for killing the abomination. Yet, in a cruel twist of fate, this will be what takes his life. As he slowly transforms into a lifeless metal statue, he takes a look around to see nothing but death and devastation.
Jin Shu awakes to find himself and his weapon in a new world—a world of cultivation—as a runesmith. Jin Shu will use his newfound knowledge of runesmithing to create a unique blend of modern weaponry and runic weaponry, creating something this new world has never seen before.
