Stubbornness sometimes has no limit

"What was that?" lord Godric asked with a frown on his face as he peered at the entrance of the guild. "Who is making such a ruckus at such an hour?"

"It sounds like Healer Gavin's voice," replied Gina as she sat the wooden tumblr down on the counter. Her brows were furrowed as she peered at the street as well, with her lips pursed she said after a little pause, "…It seems like he is on with his antics once again."

"Who is healer Gavin?" Damien asked Gina who turned her face around to look at him.

Gina paused as if she was thinking of the politest words to speak of this man named Gavin.

"He is a healer… and he is the one in charge of treating the commoners as usually the commoners are not allowed to enter the temple other than the days which are open for the commoners," explained Gina. "Healer Gavin is a low-ranking healer who couldn't enter the temple. His holy power …well it's not enough… for him to cross the threshold of the temple which is why he treats the commoners as a way to earn money."

"But sometimes…"

"Get out! Shoo! I don't treat your kind!"

Gina pursed her lips in an annoyed sort of way and remarked, "But sometimes he forgets that he was once in the same boat as others. In the past he used to be kind and generous which made him popular but ever since he noticed that beastmen have decided to rely on him more — he had gotten more and more arrogant."

"Now even though he doesn't have the authority as a healer from the temple, he shares the same arrogance with them."

Damien frowned upon hearing her words. Truthfully after being treated like a crook, he was not in the mood of treating anyone. What was the point in showing kindness if it was only going to be repaid by ingratitude?

But after a quick pondering, he sighed and started walking over to the entrance of the guild. Curse him and his sense of responsibility but he couldn't just ignore the person who needed his help.

A healer could ignore someone who required his help but Damien couldn't.

He who had died once knew how it felt when no one was there to help him.

"Am—I ..am I going to die, Adikus?" A whimpering moan resounded in Damien's ear as he came to a stop in front of the entrance of the guild. There was a great deal of shouting and yelling coming from the street. He peered down the front of the crowd where it seemed like the entire street had assembled.

It was just like in the morning when Lord George fought with the guard in the morning. People were standing all over the street in a great ring facing a clinic which was three buildings down. Prominent among them was a man who was looking rather annoyed as he looked at something at his feet.

"I told you to get lost!" said Healer Gavin with an annoyed voice. "You are causing me to lose a great deal of business."

"You are not going to die, Sigurd!" Damien heard the familiar voice of the man who had laughed at him earlier in the morning. As Damien pushed past the crowd, he noticed Adikus who was sitting on the ground with Sigurd lying on his lap.

Adikus looked up at Gavin before saying, "Healer Gavin! We are willing to pay as much money as you want—but please help him, the bleeding is not stopping even though we have applied the ointment to stop it. If this goes on then — he will bleed dry!"

"Please help him, sire," Martha who was kneeling on the side also pleaded. "He will die at this rate."

"Then let him!" Gavin snorted with a haughty expression on his face. "I say good riddance. You dog beastmen sprout like mushrooms in the rainy season. Even if one of you dies, it will not make a difference! Now go!! Shoo.. don't dirty my threshold with your low-class blood."

"You…" Adikus began but Gavin had enough of the nonsense. He waved his hand dismissively and looked at the security guard whom he had hired and said to them in a commanding voice, "What are you two doing? Drag them away."

"Kevin," Adikus said to the guard who upon hearing the command of his employer, he had hoped for some kind of help from this man as the two of them were of the same kind.

But Kevin only glanced at him with a blank expression before saying, "I am sorry, Adikus." He then reached out to pick up Sigurd but before he could, a pair of arms blocked him.

Kevin and Adikus turned to look at the man who was holding Sigurd by his shoulders.

"It is you!" Adikus remembered the man who was holding Sigurd.

"It is me," said Damien as he turned to Xavier and said to him, "Go and pick him up. We will bring him to the guild."

Xavier frowned but all the same, he went ahead and picked up the feet of the dog beastman.

The two of them then picked up Sigurd from the street and then walked over to the other side of the street.

"WHERE ARE YOU TAKING HIM!?" Adikus let out a startled yelp which sounded too much like a surprised dog as he chased after the two of them.

"To somewhere safe," Damien replied as he carried Sigurd away. "He is already injured badly, if he is thrown to one without care then he will end up losing his life."

Adikus however ignored him and rebuked him harshly, "But if you take him away then how will he get treated?"

"Healer Gavin is the only one who can treat him."

Damien raised his head in surprise when he heard the words of the dog beastman. "Even after being treated like such, you still want him to treat your colleague?"
